I always look forward to partying on New years and counting down to midnight. I'm so glad I didn't go that weekend when Prince took the opportunity to charge new year prices and didn't have even a count down at midnight.
Prince is one of Jehovah's Witnesses. Why would he have a countdown to celebrate the NY coming in?

I kind of agree with the other person. If he didn't want to celebrate New Year's he shouldn't have charged New Years prices. Prince wouldn't have needed to celebrate but he could have let everyone else celebrate. It sounds from your report that he went out of his way not to let you guys have a countdown when he could have easily waited 10 more minutes to take the stage.

I didn't particularly care there was no countdown. At midnight, in the middle of 3121, I still toasted the new year with my friends.

My days of questioning the whys of anything Prince does were over long ago. Causes way less frustration that way.

lol I hear you and for the record I meant to say he shouldn't have charged New Year's prices but as we all know he might not believe in New Year's but he does believe in money.

24 hours. I reufsed to pay absolutely ridiculous prices to stay in a hotel room that would have been 1/5 the price on the previous weekend.

Yep, that is why we are going next weekend. New Year's is crazy and there is a huge convention in town every year on the first weekend but the second weekend is pretty slow and the room rates drop way down. We went this very weekend two years ago and it was cool.

Prince saw to it that there was no countdown at midnight. lol

Forgive me if my brain is a little foggy but last night's setlist consisted of:

3121
Girls and Boys
Purple Rain (I can't stand this song but this version almost made me cry)
If I Was Your Girlfriend
Shhh
Gotta Broken Heart Again
Joy In Repetition
Pass The Peas
Musicology (sounded wonderful!!!!)
Lolita
Black Sweat
New Prince protege Shelby doing Love Changes and Never Loved A Man (The Way That I Loved You)
Medley of Partyman/What Have You Done For Me Lately

Someone else can fill everyone in on the aftershow. At that point, it was all a blur. lol

I may be missing something but I am running on 6 hours of sleep in two days.

I was fortunate enough to see both of the Vegas shows this past May. I enjoyed last night's show way more than both of them. 3121 sounded great to me. Everything just sounded better like there has been the opportunity to flesh out the songs more. Cora kicked major ass during Shhh.

The best thing about Prince music is the feeling it gives you that everything is gonna be alright. There is only one word to describe how I felt last night and that is JOY. Prince's playing during Puprle Rain, JIR and during the aftershow was superb. Not only that, but I had the opportunity to spend some quality time with members of my NPGMC and Org families. The fact that Prince has brought some many people together is a testament to the power of his music.

Everyone should try to get to 3121. It was worth every penny.

GREAT STORY THANKS !!
