3121 New Year's Eve show!!

Ok, I am going to Vegas tomorrow night to see his New Year's Eve performance. I will provide a review once I get back to New York. I can't wait. Like most, this will be my first time to 3121. I want to know from those that have been to his club, any tips that you can share. Like, where is the best place to sit/stand during his performance? We do have a table but I am wondering is that a good thing. If anyone wants me to report on something specific, please let me know. Have a happy and safe New Year!

I know exactly what your feeling, Oh the excitement!
I was at the first weekend shows and you are gonna have a great time.
Any seat in the house will be a good one!! Good that you have a
table for the feet, it does get hard standing so long.
I would say if you are on the floor.. there are speakers that stick out
just a bit on each side. Try to get close to one of those, he does come out on them quite a bit!!
Where ever you choose to sit/stand you are gonna LOVE IT!!
Enjoy and take in every moment..

I was at the 12/29 show. A few tips:
Bring cash for the aftershow $50 cover (for the room with the musicians) + $20/person for food/drink (this part can be done by credit card). If you are outside of the musicians' room, it's $20 cover + $20 food/drink charge
Be happy that you got a table!! It was worth it. If you want to go down to the floor you can and then come back to your table. I danced next to my table. You will have an full unobstructed view. Be sure to watch the crowd to see when folks are leaving for the aftershow.... Good to probably go after the first encore to get a good spot for the aftershow. Get some rest... The aftershow didn't end til 5:30a...or at least that's when I left. For the actual show, come early. The tables are assigned first come first serve. DJ Rashida will keep you entertained
Cool, but I'm leavin' my pants on.

Music room in the 3121 restaurant only seats about 40-50 so definitely keep an eye on people leaving the main show at around 2-2:15am for the aftershow. Right before singing a rendition of "Come Together" he refers to coming together at 3121 Jazz Cuisine for some pancakes 'til 5am. Take that as your signal that there IS an aftershow and if you have someone you can sacrifice to go grab a table, do it. You get to pick your table and it's first come, first served. If they get there early enough (with the $50 cash pp cover charge), they will have time to run back into the main show and give you the purple wristband that gives you music room access. Unfortunately they have to run back to the music room again and sit at the table they have chosen and keep it safe until you get there. Someone WILL steal your spot unless you have someone save your seats. The room is small and it's normally maybe 20 seats fo regular dining but they jam in a few more for the aftershow...then they jam in a few more in the empty spaces like near the door, between tables, etc. You must have cash for the cover...or at the very least an ATM card. The casino ATM is very nearby. Then be prepared to wait 60-90 mins for him to arrive. Jazz trio plays in the interim and you can order food and drink ($20 minimum, but you can pay w/ credit)...yes there ARE pancakes on the menu. LOL. Enjoy. We had a full on blast.

Wow, thanks for the information. For some reason I thought it was free for the aftershow at the restaraunt. You are the first person to tell us about a cover charge. Thanks again for the tip. I will definately make sure I have some extra cash for the aftershow for both nights when I plan my trip next month. I'm going to have to eat cereal or something really cheap during the day to afford the Jazz cuisine aftershows cover charge plus the late night appetizers.
How much would you or did you tip the waiter/waitress?

So they are charging to go to the aftershow now? Or is this just for the New Years weekend?

just a question....I am attending the January 5th and planning on trying to hit the aftershow. I am not attending the 6th but I will be in Vegas, can you get into the aftershow if you do not attend the main show?

The cover charge is definitely NEW and so are the pancakes on the menu. Hmmmm
I'm also interested in knowing if the cover charge is for New Year's Eve weekend or is this a new policy?

If this is a permanent cover charge, I think I have an idea as to why it is. That also gives me some insight to some other questions floating around in my mind. eek

Tip for the server should be at least 15-20% of the total. This is standard, and if you receive excellent service then throw in a few more bones.

Maybe it's because some people weren't going to the actual show and waiting to get in to see a free show at the aftershow. It's only fair that people that paid to see the actual show, get into the aftershow as oppose to someone who didn't go to the show and didn't pay a dime.

Plus it keeps people from fighting to get in to the music room. I hope when I get back to Vegas I get a chance to see the aftershow. I went to the opening shows, but we didn't get an aftershow at all, but hey, at least some of us got our pictures taken and shown on the 12 big screens, both nights...that was enough for me right there and I was able to get a high-five from Prince and a maraka, so I'm not complaining.

They didn't check or ask if we attended the show. My impression is that you could go to the aftershow without going to the show. Had I stayed another night, I would have just gone to the aftershow again.
