Question about aftershows

If he does have one, does it fill up? Is there a chance some won't get in?

Yes they do fill up and the vast majority of people do not get in. I was fortunate to get in both nights, but most people did not make it to either show. The room with the stage only holds about 40 people. Some people were in other parts of the restaurant while the aftershow went on. I guess they could hear some from there, but I doubt that you can see from out there. Some of those people crowded around the door to peep in.

Any hints to get in? What was your technique?

Yes, please tell us how you were able to get a good seat. I think I read on another post that people left the actual concert early to get a good seat.

there's really no "secret"...i was there on the 8th and just left immediately after the show and booked over to the restaurant which is right next door and got a table right next to the jazz room where he and his band performs, heard everything perfectly because there are open doors and could see prince. the jazz room was already filled up and the hostess said that it had been full for over an hour, so those people missed an hour of the show. and btw she also said they do not take reservations...so it all depends on if you don't mind missing part of the show.

OR, if you're going for the whole weekend, just plan for the jazz room one nite instead of the show.

Maybe we were lucky.....we were at the front for the main show until the second to last song then moved to the back for the close of the show then ran out the doors and to the restaurant where there was a smallish queue along the short corridor. Some rude people were queue jumped saying 'I have a table' but were obviously lying through their teeth. I even argued with one sassy 'lady' who claimed she 'had fishcakes on her table' and had been in the bathroom (for the last 30 min??). However I let her past to save getting myself slapped in the face. My patience paid off as we got in and was offered a table right outside the Jazz room..... see my post 'He Spoke 2 Me' to hear what happened next - it was awesome!....Good luck and have fun!!! lol

incognito

I attended the aftershow on December 9 (4-5am) after the Dec 8 (which was really a Dec 9 start time. When the concert ended, we casually walked over and took our chances and were let in and set down at a table for four people. We were not in the small room where Prince and the band were located, but outside the door and could hear perfectly. Prince plays the guitar at the Jazz Cafe, so whenever I heard the guitar I would stand up and look through the door to watch him perform.

He did walk through the restaurant and I spoke to him. At the concert I was against the stage up in Prince's aura so I did not have to be in the same room with him at the jam session (aftershow).

At the aftershow, Prince looked at his guitar, the other band members or out the window of the jazz cafe, He performed the last song with his back to the audience so, I walked around the little room and looked at him through the window to watch the chords he was playing on his guitar. I do believe people staring at him and not grooving to his music makes him a tadbit uncomfortable.

OK Randee - I'm sorry if I was wrong in my assumption that yot were jumping the queue but so many people had pushed past me by the time you came along that I was getting a little pissed and nervous I wouldn't get in. Whatever we both got in and both enjoyed it so quits on that. My only question 2 U is what were you doing in the bathroom for sooo looong!! Maybe I don't want to know lol BTW It was not me who tried to sit at Prince's table but he did come straight over 2 speak 2 me at my table.. razz
