Prince is under contract to play every weekend. Tickets are not on sale yet but he will be here each weekend in December and the following 4 months. Not only did I go to the Rio and they told me this at the box office but I called them on my way home, spoke to a different person and they said the same thing. So I bet they will just release tickets one week in advance from here on out in order to boost sales for each weekend. I'm guessing Saturday night or Sunday that tickets for next weekend will be available. Call them for yourself if you want and I'm hoping I didn't just talk to the only 2 employees that had no idea what they were talking about.

I am REALLY hoping this is true. To stay at the Rio (which makes the night easier) it is around 110/night the weekend before Christmas. I just called to change my reservations to January.....Rio is sold out the first weekend, and it is $400/night the third weekend. Crazy. But I am not changing anything else (or making reservations for that matter) until tickets go on sale.

I just returned from Vegas. I attended 4 shows and the aftershow at the Jazz Cusine. It was mentioned by a band member that Prince would take a break after the Dec.9th concert. (Of course this could have already changed.)

If you are making reservations it is a good idea to go through Vegas.com or Hotels.com or something similar. Donot make reservations directly from the hotels or airlines, you will pay a lot more for your reservations. I went through Vegas.com and I paid under 17 hundred dollars for airline and 9 nights at the Aladdin.

so what do you guys think? I was planning on going January 6th.....I have the info all lined up for plane/hotel, etc.....

I am so anxious, what do I do?? JUST ANNOUNCE THE F'ING DATES!!!!!

You can get good package deals that way, but one difference is that the agencies will probably charge you a cancellation fee, where if you've booked directly thru the hotel, they won't. I've found that if you are only staying for 1-2 nights, you'll basically get the same hotel rate (maybe a couple dollars difference) and if you have AAA, most places grant a 10% discount.

I still think that it is best to wait for official word, meaning an email from NPGMC before making any reservations, even if it means having to go to later dates due to the timeframe.

Okay, I just called the Rio (12:45 eastern time 12/8)and was told this....He is going to be there through March. January dates are expected at any time, they are just "waiting on him" to provide them. I explained my dilemma of trying to book advance airfare, etc from the East Coast, and she then said they expect Jan. dates to be posted by the end of December. I then asked, "do you mean it could only be a couple of weeks ahead?" to which she replied, yes that is what she expects but "you never know". It does sound like from here on out, there may not be as much advance notice as the first round.
I get the feeling the Rio is becoming just as frustrated with him as we are!
Might not be a bad idea for more people to start calling them and talking about difficulty booking flights, etc without dates posted. Maybe if they get overwhelmed with this, they will put more pressure on him to comply. Although I'm not holding my breath he will care what the Rio has to say. I just wish he had more consideration for US.

all the different things the Rio has told people, there is no telling what to expect...i bet they are sick of getting calls though

so is it safe to say every weekend in January he will be performing???

nothing is safe to say at this point.....it appears as if Prince and his people have set up shop in the Rio and payed a huge amount of money in exchange for total freedom and that means releasing tickets whenever they feel like it in addition to other things (like telling the Cuisine they will have to open their doors until 5am, etc.) Let's Go Crazy!!

ago, and they told me to check back on Sunday. I could tell they're
a bit frustrated...that was the nth different answer we've all gotten
over the last week.

hard to blame the Rio though.....they are just as clueless as we are

but booking flights and rooms without tickets is probably never a wise idea

If it's true that he's leased the place for 6 months then the Rio wouldn't care how many free shows he does so long as he gets the bodies in. They're hoping people visit the casino before and after shows.

People hanging out there waiting so long for Prince to show up is probably good for them.
