My 3121 experience

Well I survived. I'm just still recovering from a great night of dancing and food and drink. Started out getting there about 5 pm. Went to will call and found out tickets would not be given out until at least 8-830 pm. Well I thought well my dinner reservations were for 6 so that was fine.. in hind sight big boo boo! My dinner at 3121 was incredible see my post under 3121 Restaruant discussion. I got out of dinner at 9 pm. The line by then was clear outside the building past the jazz cusine entrance. I had VIP tickets, so went to check with some Rio people and they said I still had to wait in the line till they got to me to receive a purple braclet. so after about 2 hours in line I finally got my bracelt and was able to go to my table. It was now after 11 pm. Had a few drinks and my bottle of wine served, watched the crowd grow and grow. Prince finally came on stage at about 12:01 a.m. Was it worth the extra money for the aggravation of poor planning on the Rio's staff???? Absolutley!!!! Prince came out and opened with "Sexuality" but renamed "Spirituality". Rocked the house!!!! I wish I had a pen, or a recorder to tell you every song but will list the one's I can remember. Lolita, Joy in Repetiotion, Black Sweat, 17 Days (which the twinz sang) bit of a theme of the song Alright from SOTT, but talked a bit about praising Jehovah but only briefly maybe 3 minutes of a bit os spiritual talk. Damn I'm drawing a blank on the rest of the songs, he did sing Purple Rain and made reference to he promised someone he would sing it last night, Possibly for Ed Bradley???? Just a guess, but I do recall Ed Bradley interviewing Prince at some point in his career. He close with Let's go crazy, mainly the refraine and the audience singing most of it. He sang so many of his hits, Cream of course, but he was on fire last night with his Guitar!!!! Flawless. He only made one costume change thru the night and performed till about 2:30 a.m. I got home about 4 this morning totally spent! I would highly recommend you getting the VIP Package for the show, get the 2nd Teir seating tables for 2 if possible, yes it's a lot of money but I would not have wanted to wait in line for hours like I did last night, then stand up all night till 2-3 a.m on the dance floor. I really love Prince as a performer but getting to old to stand that long in one spot just to be up front, so the seats were awesome, could sit and dance if I wanted or sit and enjoy seeing him still very close, also the twinz run out in the 2nd teir to post around the club, they ran past me 3 times during the show, they are hot little women and they can sing pretty good to boot, not to mention the dancing... awesome. Well if I come out of my dazed fog and can remember more I will post more but at this point I'm still foggy and need to chill out and come down off of my Purple High! Thanks Prince for a great opening Night!!!! I wish you all the best on your new project and hope you are here for a long while!!!!! Cheers.

Mind if I ask what the VIP upgrade cost? And what does that include? I'm with you - I cannot stand that long.

Thanks so much for that excellent, detailed report fresh from the front line!!!

So does dinner take three hours? I made 6 p.m.dinner reservations for the night before the show. I'll be there two nights, so should I switch dinner to the night that I am not going to a show? I wanted to have the whole 3121 experience in one night before I flew home to Chicago. biggrin Is this not a good idea?

If you are planning on having dinner the night of the show I suggest you keep you dinner reservations for 6. The dinner will only take 3 hours if you do the chef recommended menu. If you just order off the regular menu it will take the time of a normal dinner at any nice dinner place. maybe 2 hours at most. enjoy the dinner the food is awesome!

Tickets 125.00 each. then called the rio for the VIP tickets on top of the ticket price was about 367.00 plus tax etc. that was for 2 people all inclusive. Nice table on the 2nd teir, about 25 feet from the stage, and a choice of one bottle, vodka, cognac, wine, champagne, etc. Totally worth the extra money so you don't have to stand in the round of the dance floor all night and go to the bar when you are thirsty. Hope you have fun... !!!!

I'm confused. Did you then have to pay for dinner on top of that?

Why not just go for the VIP ticket that includes dinner and the show?

they arent the same thing. there is the dinner package (312 i believe), there is the show package (367 i think, only includes the table and one bottle), neither of which include the show tickets from what i understand.(which i believe are 125 each)

I got my ticket at the Penn and Teller box office and didn't wait a minute.

Ate at 3121. Great food. The corn chowder with scallop was incredible, as was the sea bass. I went in alone to eat at the bar, but they wouldn't serve food at the bar so I was gonna go somewhere else. Then I started visiting with the people next to me and they invited me to eat with them. They were "high rollers" and picked up the whole tab (thank God, because they ordered a $350 bottle of wine). They were so nice and from where I sat, I could watch the line go down and then went to the club when it was gone.

I got in there and just smiled. It was so small and cool. The music was great while waiting and really got me even more in the mood. I met so many cool people. Almost everyone I met was from California, but I did meet a guy from Connecticut. I'm from Minneapolis, but I didn't meet anyone else from here at the show.

The Twinz were fun (I wasn't sure if I was gonna get sick of them). They were like Prince's Vegas showgirls.

Prince was in fine form - though I wish he would have played four more hours. It's such an intimate club that I would recommend it to anyone. If I had the cash, I would get a table too.

Too bad about the long lines though - but I think you can avoid them by getting your ticket at the other box office like I did (it closes at 9:30).

Ok - I am ready to go to sleep. I just got home and I was up until after 6 last night (which was actually after 8 my time).

Hope everyone gets to see at least one of these shows. I'm glad I don't live in Vegas because I would want to go every weekend.

I believe the $321 VIP package does include the show ticket, but the table reservation with bottle doesn't.

Thanks for the info on the alternate box office and the corn chowder, I love scallops and will have to try that! smile

So I can start saving, you're saying (for 2 people):

250 for tickets
367+tax for upgrade which includes 1 bottle of (choice)

and then dinner is entirely separate. Looks like it's shaping up the be a thousand-dollar night!

I believe the $321 VIP package does include the show ticket, but the table reservation with bottle doesn't.

Thanks -- I thought that's how it broke down. (In fact, I just went to vegas.com AGAIN to check.)

I still can't figure out why people are paying roughly the same money to NOT get dinner. Obviously, they didn't grow up with my father. lol

At the time I made my reservation that was not made clear to me or an option the dinner package thing, just paid for the tickets and the upgrade thru Rio, and they said the dinner was not included, just the table and bottle. After that was confirmed, a few hours later the optional package with dinner was added, but I could not get back thru to rio to change again, so no biggie, still had the dinner then the show, just a few more dollars. well not just a few...LOL

Well, the table only reservation is normal for a nightclub like this. I don't know if they had the dinner package or not before Prince took it over. Also, some people might not have time for dinner, but would still want a table, that might be one reason someone might choose that deal instead.

lol

I'm just tryin' to be real clear on all this because the man who's footing the bill for our little excursion (we're calling it a Christmas present) has already made how he feels about the ticket prices very plain. I gots to get the best deal possible -- and I want no surprises.

Just to add to you experience:

I just got back from an incredible weekend!!!!! Boy am i worn out.

I would just say that Friday and Saturday nights were incredible. Friday had more of a rock feel to it. He did a WICKED and I mean WICKED rendition of AnotherLover followed by a guitar solo that was merciless. He also sang Pink Cashmere along with a Mike Phillips solo that almost brought me to tears.

Saturday was funk night and he did a great rendition of Get on the Boat. He actually left the stage and walked around the club asking folks how they were doing.

Finally, let me just say this, the wait was long, but the NPGMC fans got first class treatment. The Rio staff made sure that we got in first and that was GREAT!!!!!

u might check on this....serena is correct in that the 321 package includes the
show, BUT i believe it is 321 per person, so you arent really getting food for about the same price. this is all confusing, i thought it was as follows:

ticket only per person: $125
dinner and ticket: $321 per person
table reservation and bottle in the club: $367 and you can invite one guest to sit with you.

but, on vegas.com it says for 321 per person you get all three. that doesn't add up right, and it doesnt match up with what others have reported.

vegas.com states: "Friday - Saturday: $125. Special dinner and show package available for $312.10 per person. Packages require a minimum of two guests; includes dinner at 3121 Jazz Cuisine, VIP tickets to the performance, and one bottle with table service per two guests."

Dude-"Spirituality!?!"
About 6 years ago I became a Christian-and I am not a prude or anything (I still drink beer, wine, Prince and, of course, I love sex with my wife!), but I remember trying to sing along to one of my favorite Prince songs, Sexuality, and thinking that it really wasn't me from a lyrical standpoint anymore. Sexuality is still very important in my marriage, but it doesn't replace "Christ" as "All I'll ever need." So many of Prince's songs are metaphors for religion I started singing the song as "Spirituality" and started making up the words to fit.

I should have recorded it-then I could send Prince a bill after Friday's show! wink
