Nobody said he was playing Vegas did they? And god I hate it when people pretend to write to Prince. What's up with that?

Take it easy man...relax a little... Hes done it before has he not. oh and another phrase I hate to see used is "Whats up with that?" only used in american films my friend. Maybe next time you use it you could write " DAT" instead of "that".

And I like to think that maybe the old boy does log on and take a read sometime... you obviously think different.

have a good day

What American film are you speaking of? Are you busting on American films man? Have you heard of spell-check? What's up with that man?

Prince is just more of a Genious than Ya thought! He's thought things out well! As it shows! He will have his "Masters" at the "Rio" & can "Rock-it" & "Funk-it" like it ought tobe done! That's why he has to be selective -in negiotiation-as the deal has to abide by those "Funky" Rules! or it's no-deal!Everybody knows he can deliver the Greatest Music out there & bring-in more Talent-as they've witnessed or the word got out! On the nights that he performs-1 is sure to be Truely "Satisfied" So Vegas is a Fantastic location for most-for those willing & able to travel! So come-on People! Don't miss the "Boat!" I think that-that is a bit more than "Don't You Want to Come"

Peace & Love!

Knowing P he'll find a way to get more musical freedom out of it. How?

Most people I guess play Vegas to play their hits (Or when they run out of hits.)

By P not having to take the same production setup on the road he doesn't have to do one set show.

This is just me going off into expansive land but one night P could do songs from his early era or he can have acoustic night or a jazzy show.

He could treat each show according to his moods.

The marketing behind it would be for people to "Come experience the musicianship and artistry of Prince". Like seeing a modern day Mozart in concert.

Of course the blue haired ladies from Wyoming will want to hear "Kiss" and Purple Rain".

As long as he doesn't return Tom Jones a favor and cover "Delilah".

(Although P could kick "What's New Pussycat.")

confuse Umm..yeah, that'd be pretty stupid, but it has nothing to do with what I said. How about you wait to bitch until something has even been officially announced or a show or two has been played? Then, maybe that would be the time to decide if you want to make the trip or not.
Actually that has everything to do with what you said. Prince booking acts and playing sometimes doesn't mean he's not going to tour. So why shouldn't we be able to go see him somewhere until the reported tour starts? Hell, I'm all for it! It'll be cool to see him in a more intimate venue rather than a big arena. Unless you're underage, you'll now have a chance to see him, instead of waiting to see if he tours somewhere near you.

Yeah, it's Prince so chances are the show'll be decent no matter what. But why Vegas? Hate to be the one to break it to you, but that city's image has not changed. Mention Vegas to any given person and they'll have images of Wayne Newton and slots swimming through their mind. Prince isn't going to change that.

Oh darn. pout Well, we'll certainly miss your chipper attitude!

And I'll miss the tigers. sigh

Instead of aiming sarcasm in my direction, why don't you make the case for this Vegas gig being a good idea?

Ok, now that's just plain fucked up and mean. You guys birth the bitch, but we gotta keep her? uzi canada

Too bad. You guys steal all our talent, you can keep the shit too. Take Bryan Adams while you're at it.

Ummm, well the only case that needs to be made is that seems it's where Prince WANTS to play.

But, I and many others have talked about lots of good reasons to visit Vegas. Yes, there is the cheesey stuff, but there's also; The Guggenheim Museum, terrific art collections, fine dining, GREAT weather, good prices (flights, hotels, food, etc), no curfew for Prince (which is very important), other great shows like O, Zumanity & Cavalia (AWESOME show, saw it 4 times elsewhere, any visitors/residents should catch this while it's there! info - cavalia.net ), interesting architecture & design, the aquarium at The Mirage & the water show at Bellagio, to list a few. There's also the Grand Canyon, Lake Mead & Hoover Dam, which are fairly close.

There's pretty much something for everyone there now. All I said to you previously was before you have all these depressing thoughts, is to wait and see how it turns out. If it's crappy (which I seriously doubt), then bitch away. But, why not be open-minded and have a wait & see attitude?

Look, I acknowledged earlier on in the thread that part of my reaction is due to being bitter about still not having had the chance to see a Prince show. He can't be bothered to play Vancouver or anywhere else nearby, so if I want to see a show I've got to haul my cookies down to Vegas and pay a ridiculous amount of money to see him there? I can only imagine how the fans on other continents feel about this.

I'm not one to think the man needs to cater to his fans' every whim; in fact I think sometimes he does too much of that as it is. Thing is, most of the people at the Vegas shows would be casual fans at best. Maybe I am being petty, but shouldn't he be bringing the show to the people who supported him before it was cool (again) and respectable to like Prince, instead of stationing himself in one city and expecting us to come to him?

I'm sorry you haven't had a chance to see him, but this isn't reported to be a permanent gig either, so he's only parking temporarily. If you have to travel somewhere to see him anyway, Vegas can be very affordable. If the ticket prices are correct ($125 - we paid $110 for the Studio54 shows years ago), that's not bad at all to see him in a smaller venue. Otherwise, I guess you'll have to wait and take your chances on the rumored 2007 tour coming somewhere near you.

p.s. if we gotta keep Bryan Adams & Celine, you guys at least gotta take back Pamela Anderson and her white trash hubby is part of the deal wink

125$ American? eek

Sweet holy shit, since when is that a reasonable price?

Take Pam back? Sure, what the hell. If the ice caps do end up melting, we can use her as a floatation device. smile

Sorry - what's up with what?

oh and American films... we've all seen them, usually involving some form of Gangsters that ' pop a cap in yo ass ' at some point in the movie. I may be mistaken, do people really talk like that? We get shows like Jerry Springer but I didn't realise these people were real!

Have a good day dude wink

PRINCE is fuelling reports he is set to sign a deal to perform regularly in Las Vegas, by placing graphics of the city's Rio resort on his website. On Monday (02OCT06), the PURPLE RAIN hitmaker posted a red and blue image in the shape of Rio on his www.3121.com website. A source close to Prince tells the Las Vegas Review Journal the singer is preparing to sign a mega deal to perform at the Rio. The insider says, "It looks good. Take it to the bank."

Very, very sad.
This is what we do when we wash up. Somehow the end of the line is alway Vegas. It will suit Prince. He has that flamboyant, obnoxious and cheesy Little Richard flare. Hopefully he will be smart and maybe re-create versions on past tours. That would be cool. The Purple Rain Show, The Sign O The Times Show, etc.

Wow, I have no idea what to think about this.

I joked like 10 years ago that when retires to being a stage show act in Vegas I'm out.

In some way I could really see him end up doing it back then and now it's finally happening. Damn, I thought I had another 5 or 6 years left before this...Surely he has a few more years left!!!! Why is he prematurely putting himself out to pasture?

I had such hope, but that's it. He's officially old now and so am I, I guess .

VEGAS?

Why is this a sellout? Las Vegas is no longer the place of Frank Sinatra and Wayne Newton. This might be the wave of the future atleast for artists who can do it. I guess that leaves out Yellowcard. Besides, the man has been touring for 30 years maybe he'd like to be in one place for a while. Not everyone is happy with everything...too bad so sad. He's getting paid handsomely for it and I will try and go as i'm sure alot of other people will. This is going to arguably be the nicest place to go in Las Vegas now so why not...they want Prince because he's still a great entertainer, The Rolling Stones suck live and Michael Jackson is no longer an option (guilty, innocent or as i belive, unproven). I respect Prince for doing what he wants despite all this noise about everything he does.

Another possible hint?? I was just watching the TV show "Las Vegas" on TNT. At 10:10pm, they play Princes' Lolita, from the 3121 album. Does this mean anything? Also, I have friend that dances at the Rio, in the "Show in the Sky". I've left here a message to let me know anything as soon as she finds out.
