Las Vegas 3121 Report

Well guys I'm still reeling nfrom last night - no doubt I missed further post party shenanigans but we had been standing in line from 4pm and got out at midnight - phew!

So here goes...

Waited in line outside Empire Ballroom for ages (some people had been there since 8am - although I;m not sure exactly why!). There appeared to be a MAJOR problem with the sound - something that was confirmed when we were finally let in at around 7pm.

Prince was sitting at a botth in the club (which is an awesome intimate venue!). He was doing his thang sorting out the sound and Tamar was belting out a few numbers...then after about an hour of smoking speakers and strange low end buzzing Prince took to the stage and played some great numbers including

Peach
Elephants and Flowers
Calhoun Square
and a bunch of others...he was (finally!) very relaxed and joking with the crowd & sound guy!

At around 9pm they all took to the stage and Tamar kicked off the set - looking simply awesome...rocked through Milk & Honey and a couple of others and then Prince stepped up to the front with:

3121
Lolita
and so many more I can't actually remember - the whole gig lasted 3 hours.

Highlights were:

Exstasy (cover of Barry White song)
Fury

Someone please furnish everyone with a full set list (sorry for being crap).

Was invited up on stage by Tamar (asking if I could do the "jog") so if anyone was there and saw an excitable guy in a striped shirt towards the end of the gig up on stage - that was me!

Let's now hope we get a European tour this autumn as I can't afford to keep doing this type of thing.

Much love to all the NPGMC who were there - splendid chaps and chapettes.

J

Why is he still closing with "Let's Go Crazy" and "Purple Rain?"

why not resurrecting "The Cross" or something like that for encores? I don't think hardcore fans that pay $312 care about hearing Lets Go Crazy again do they?

And what was all that about not playing his hits again?

he's probably not doing much b/c there's so much choreography, right?

he could easily do the majority of his set without Tamar and the Twins.

This is the perfect time for Dream Factory! mad

The setlist is 'okay' at best.

Some of these 'rare' tunes like 'Empty Room' and 'Joy In Repetition' were played on the European leg of the 'One Nite Alone' Tour. Nothing much new here really.

I'm sure I would have enjoyed it had I been there, but I'm seriously questioning whether I would have wanted to spend $312.01 for that set of songs.

And whats with the covers? The man has hundreds of rarely played, classic songs. Why the F**k doesn't he just play them?!! I know he may enjoy these cover-tunes but for a $312.01 ticket price he seriously needs to think about what the fans want to hear.

Well, although I wasn't there, I can guarantee that he didn't actually sing Elephants and Flowers....at most, he slightly lyrically butchered a couple verses and the chorus repeated over a vamp.

I'm ok with this setlist except he should drop the folliwng: Purple Rain, Kiss, Let's Go Crazy, and What Have You Done for Me Lately. And replace with something like:

A Question of U
Computer Blue
Still Waiting

and

The Ladder (alernate version he sang on the Omnibus special during the Lovesexy tour rehersals)

I'll play it first and tell you what it is later.

The Cross (crowd singalong)

Now he sings the song with the original title (instead of "The Christ")?

Am I reading correctly when you said Prince was sitting in a booth and asked for requests? Did anyone talk to him?
