SHOULD THE FRONT ROWS OF GENERAL ADMISSION SHOWS BE ALL FEMALES? just wondering...i got front row at the DC show, but only after standing in line for 6 hours and the another 2 hours at the stage. i earned my spot! but, there were some females grumbling that they should have been up front, since Prince is a man, and women are "generally" shorter than men. so the question is...should female fans get preferential treatment when it comes to GA show? you look better on your facebook page than you do in person

Why would a man want to be in Prince's face like that?

i think that's up to you and your personal etiquette.
myself, i believe if you're super tall and there's someone super short behind you, then it's not going to kill you to let them in front of you. i also believe if you've been waiting forever to get into a GA show and you have a primo spot, you have every right to stand your ground. you just have to weigh the situation. all bets are off if they try to "weasel" in front of you during the show, though. i don't have time for that kind of nonsense. BACK OF THE HOUSE! i hate GA shows.

Why would a man want to be in Prince's face like that? why not? i don't want him singing "the beautiful one's" to me, but the man is an awesome musician! the same reason if i could sit 10 feet from ray charles, stevie wonder, bruce springsteen or mozart--to say i was that close to sheer genius. i'm only 5'11", so it's not like we were keeping anybody from really seeing anything--but the females were like trying to squeeze into every 2"space available, which made a crowded space of tired irritable people worse you look better on your facebook page than you do in person

women shouldn't be allowed privileges like that imo.
i gotta tell you the crowd that usually makes it to the 'very front' have got to be tough and willing to suffer. i'm a confirmed stand in the back type - no way i can endure that kind of pushing and shoving that goes on at the front. i tried it once. there were folks elbowing me, shoving me,. tripping me..... it sucked.

It does indeed suck. In Chicago it was worth it to stand that close to Prince as he fondled the Almighty Hohner right in my face. But I don't know that I'd do it again. It was definitely a struggle to ignore some seriously ignorant behavior. I had to restrain myself from reacting in all kinds of ways that would have resulted in my getting kicked out of the venue. BACK OF THE HOUSE! i hate GA shows. I'm 6'4". I hate GA shows, too, but I'll put in the work -- and it is work -- for a primo spot, if that's what it takes. Aside from offering unparalleled views of the action, being stagefront give me a chance to lean on the stage and rest my aching/aging back during the pre-show waiting. But no matter whether I end up front row or middle of the house, at my height, somebody will always tap me on the shoulder and ask me to move left, right, or back. At one show in DC last week, I let a woman who could not have been 5 feet tall have my stagefront spot and I stood right behind her. Everyone was sardined in at this point. The next thing I know, another woman to my right (5'6"/5'7" in heels) wants my new spot and asks me to step back. I politely explain that I'd done my one good deed and that wherever I stand, someone is going to be unhappy. I told her that the only real solution for people who wanted guaranteed perfectly unobstructed views at a GA show was to do what I had to do -- get in line very early. She said it wasn't a big deal and that she understood. But then she proceeded to spend the next 90 minutes rudely trying to squeeze in between me and the first woman. Turns out it had nothing to do with the view. She was hellbent to give Prince a long-stemmed rose she brought along. I had to give her a hard look to get her to chill. [Edited 3/22/06 16:21pm]

I always stand in the back near the exit, you never know if a White Lion might break out. If you're short you should try to find he best spot and not rely on other people.

really, if you're short and you don't think it would do a taller person any harm to be in front of them, just ask. it's not fair to think you're entitled to shove or weasel your way up, and if you just ask nicely, they'll probably find some way to accommodate you.

At General admission shows, its first come first serve. now what i hate is when some big drunk guy tries to push his way up. I use to prefer general admission back in the day cause i would always get close, but I'm just too old for that pushing and shoving shit. the only shows i really try to get up front for anymore are when The Time plays.
Now what i hate even more are at reserved shows when people want to come stand in front of you. I've had front row several times when people decide they are going to come and stand in front of you. i don't think so. thats just wrong

so, if you are at a reserved seat show, should you be expected to give up your seats to someone else, because they are female, or shorter?
if not, what is the difference? ------------------------------------------------

if not, what is the difference? good point. i guess what they're saying is that since we all paid the same price and there are no assigned seats, there should be a different logic given to who can be where. not that i agree with that!
