March 18 Miami Mansion show

Is the show at the Mansion the one owned by the Opium Group on Washington Ave?? I'm not familiar and I'm driving from Clearwater.

Thanks, Voidra

Yes. It's the same building as his old Miami "GLAM-SLAM". Different owners now.

Ahhh ... those were some MEMORABLE NIGHTS!

Looks like "The Opium Group" has done a nice job on the place: http://www.mansionmiami.com/index2.html

It was "2 the 9's" back when Prince had it and it looks even slicker now. I'm sure it will be an AWESOME event. The smaller venues are THE BEST shows hands down.

I have two small children now and I love spending my weekends devoting all my time to them. Those are about the only two nights I can tuck them into bed myself ... so I don't think I'll be going. Me and Prince stayed up all night a few times 12 or 13 years ago. I know the man can "funk until the dawn". I don't think I need reassurance.

Then again ... if the kids are in bed by 8 or 9 and it takes about 45 minutes to drive down to South Beach and the shows seem to be starting about 11 or 12 midnight ... I could arrive in time for something special ...

razz

If you or anyone else is planning on going, remember parking is a real nightmare in South Beach so get there early, have some dinner and plan on standing in line for quite some time. And don't forget to drink a few red-bulls, it will be a VERY late night/early morning.

Like I said, these smaller venue gigs are miles better than the bigger arena concert events. If you can make it and afford it, DON'T MISS IT!

Too funny, I have three little ones and hubby is going to babysit - I'm driving down from Clearwater. My one year old loves Prince big time - I should take him.

I know your joking, right?
A one year old from 12 to 4 or 5 in the morning with a PA system that would damage his or her hearing for life?

Tell you what, I'll buy him or her "The Wiggles" anthology to listen too while you're gone if you promise to keep that baby at home.

lol

of course I'm kidding about taking him. But I'm serious about the part of him loving Prince...he even tries to dance with him when I play the videos!

My 3 year old son digs Prince and James Brown too. He likes the uptempo songs with lots of horns.

My wife says he only gets into it because I dance around and sing to those songs. I tell him "Know who that is? That's uncle Prince!" My wife hates that.

When ever a Prince song comes on the radio or VH1, I ask him, who's that? and he say's "That's Daddy". I correct him, but he's sure that skinny mo-fo with the high voice is daddy.

WTF?

You may be right. I was just going by one of the reviews posted a few days as well as the Glam Slam shows I attended.

yep, the doors are opening at 7. Got rooms at the chelsea right down the street!!

It's funny to hear that others have little ones that adore Prince also.

I'll tell you one that i piulled on my Grandaughter - she's only 7 years old but is a little dancer that is starting to travel internationally for different gigs. She also LOVES Prince. When she was 5 I had Prince playing one day whioe we were having a ball in the house - I don't know what got a hold of her but I told her that Prince wrote the song KISS about me. She was so shocked and asked me if I knew Prince and I told her yes. She asked if he was a boyfriend before I met 'Papa' and I told her no that he had a crush on me for years and all he wanted from me was a kiss and I never gave it to him. The story got out of hand because she was just Sooooo excited and at that point I couldn't tell her I was joking..all of a sudden she saw me in a whole new light.

Anyway the day went on and my daughter came to pick her up and they all left. I was looking at my watch laughing knowing that I was about to get a phone call as soon as my daughter asked how their day went. Sure enough, two minutes later the phone rang...needless to say - I had some explaining to do.

Even today though, I play Prince while cooking dinner and it's dance party time with my second round of babies- I love it!

those were amazing shows. I am so happy to have been lucky enough to experience them in person too. 94/95 Birthday shows, plus shows the following night are all right up there with my best Prince experiences. If not the best.

I would like to go too, but the wife has family in town. Plus my lovely two daughters (1 & 11) will keep me busy. Its just not in the cards this time.

I am going to Vegas wednesday though!! 5 Days! WOOO HOOOO.

Mommy and Daddy need a big people vacation lol cool

biggrin

Still wish I was going Sat though

Well, an old friend (one who went to the old Glam Slam shows with me) just called. His wife has to take care of the kids and could not go.

So we are going together now!! Funny how things change in a sec.
