Tamar & Prince Wreck Philly! Prince has left no doubt in my mind that he is the baddest "MF" on the planet---- bar none! Tamar is a bonafide star in the making. Her vocal range is absolutely incredible. Personally, she could loose the choreography but hey I ain't mad at her either. I loved the opening song and hope it's on her album. There were several other tracks that were stand out as well.
As for Prince, what can I say that ya'll don't already know. The brother is just flat out "kick ass" on point. If he wanted to make a point about his ability on guitar, he succeeded! His solos were to die for and I hope this stuff is being recorded for prosperity sake because it's that good. Also, hats off to Prince for keeping the spotlight on Tamar. The 4 piece band was on point as well. I wonder what the band will look like when Prince steps to the side to focus on his own set on his world tour. Sorry I couldn't give more of a song by song review but I have to get some sleep. Tamar & Prince, thanks for kicking Philly in the ass!! [Edited 3/2/06 5:37am]

Tamar is the real deal. I have to say that she actually blew me away. She has a presense about her and the way that she carries herself on stage she looks like a veteran. I will give a full report when I get home from the office if you all would like. PS> Prince rocked the joint.

i was going to give a quick review but you beat me to it.
Yes, Tamar can hold her own. At first i wasn't feeling the girls group thing. I felt like they didn't have enough room to move around but once i got over that the songs and the vocals were great. I also think that her group will appeal to a younger crowd. I am a little bit seasoned so watching twig size twins jump around is not my taste. All that dancing was a bit much for me. OH the DJ was great too. Prince played NOTHING of his except for Party man, (which was an opportunity for fans to dance on stage) One older white woman got up on stage and once i saw her make a B-line for Prince i felt like calling security myself. She was dancing on all Prince and feeling on him. so of course she was escorted off stage! Where WAS security? There were waaaaayyyyy too many fans on stage. Prince DID say that this was not his show so i understand that he wouldn't play any of his stuff i was just really hopeful. Anyway, CAN WE TALK ABOUT THE THEATER'S AWFUL TREATMENT OF THE NPG CROWD??!! General Admission was allowed in with and before MOST NPG members. Will call was joke. People were STILL waiting outside, in line, while the concert had already begun because the will call people were so slow. I understand that the general admission tickets were more expensive then the NPG tickets but that no reason to have folks stand in line for hours just so that general admission can make any easy entrance because they already have their tickets in hand. I don't know how other theaters worked but if you bought your tickets through NPG most likely you were standing in the middle to the back of the room like me. 1 Thessalonians 5:23

whoa...in chicago, there were these security guys walking up and down past the npgmc line repeatedly telling us "this line is for club members only, if you're not a member then you need to go to the other line!" plus the will-call line ran pretty smoothly and everybody got in relatively quickly with no problem...it sucks that it didn't go as well in philly. how long was the show? I couldn't make it. I didn't sleep well last night, needless to say.

The show pretty much started on time at around midnight and ran to about 2am. Needless to say I am really dragging this morning. Thankfully I have the luxury of working from home on Thursdays. Sorry you couldn't make it out.

[Edited 3/2/06 6:19am] Things for members in MPLS went really smooth as well, course we had a seated venue, but... I'm guessing how this plays-out completely depends on the venue and their willingness to give any kind of special treatment to members, sorry y'all had a bad experience with THAT aspect of the night.

congress theatre was pretty cool to us, and it was fairly tolerable for a GA show. sorry to hear philly didn't go as well, but it sounds like you had a great show!

I truly enjoyed Tamar. Although, like i just told a friend, i will probably not buy her album. Nothing she sang i need to hear over and over. Ya know what i mean? OH the DJ played Black Sweat and that Jone Pumps like MUG in a club! I can't wait to blast that in my car and at home!! 1 Thessalonians 5:23

dearly,
what time did u arrive @ the electric factory, and were u familiar with the venue? it's standing room, so i knew i had 2 get there early if there was any chance of getting close on the floor... i arrived @ 7:45ish and there were already a good 30-40 people there...as far as the venue treating club members better, how could they when it's standing room? i thought the electric factory was very good about people trying 2 cut in front...u know, they walk up 2 the front part of the line and do "the look"...the "hmm i wonder where my friend is" bullshit and try and slither along the side of the line. well they remedied that with the wrist bands and i was thankful 4 that, after having stood in the cold for hours! if anything, their lack of security when ole girl was sliding her hands all over Prince's frame was disappointing...how could they not see the bee line she made 4 him allll the way from across the stage...i was right in front of him on the floor and he verbally dug in her ass, THEN she got snatched up, lol... no home trainin' i tell ya, no home trainin'!!

But i have been to so many other standing room only performances of Prince that were handled completely differently. For instance, New York induction after party, they let NPG in first to get their will call tickets and general admission had to wait. I've also been places where the venue printed out the list of will calls and went down the line giving people bracelets that were on the NPG list thus separating us from general admission and getting us in quick and painless. But none the less it was a blast, i'm glad i went and i will remember that in THAT venue to just by general admission and have my ticket in my hand to walk in the house! 1 Thessalonians 5:23

Dearlybeloved,
I totally agree with you about the ticket situation. I took my brother who had never been to a Prince show. There was no doubt in my mind that they were going to have a separate line for club members to get in 1st, being that it was standing room only. We arrived at about 9:00, the line was pretty long. A man came down the line and told us that the will call window window was on the side of the building, at that point I thought that we were in the clear. To my surprise a security guy told me after I received my tickets that I would have to go to the back of the line. Hell no I said. Fortantely for us a friend of my brothers happened to be in line and she told us that we could stand with her. I know that it wasn't right but the ladies that were behind us were very nice and also had very good voices. They didn't put up any fuss.(Thanks Ladies)

See I disagree with some statements here. Why would any club member think they should get "special" treatment because they belong to the club? I belong to the club too but guess what? Me and my date had to wait in the will call line too. All this special treatment nonsense I guess seperate folks. People want to see Prince who don't belong to the club so they should get treated differently? Nah! You go to a concert and some good and bad stuff happen. That's it. Look for the good and you'll have so much better of a time! I'm 6'2" 240lbs and could have easily pushed my way up to the front but I just fell back at one of the tables near the center and chilled. Just because we belong to NPG or whatever don't make you anymore special. It doesn't make you a special "friend" of Prince unless you believe the hype. I do however think they shouldn't allow folk to smoke. Can't stand when people light up and blow that smell in my face as if I would be cool with it. I wanted to snatch one dude up who lit up in front of me. LOL!

It is pretty simply,Frist person in line should get the BEST seat or place in front of the stage.i have been 2 over 20 aftershows.I get there VERY early in the AM.AND I WAIT....AND WAIT...AND WAIT!
YES it is worth every second Prince shook my hand and gave me a COW BELL!

I gues the plain and simple fact that the GA people paid an extra 19.79 each for their ticket plus service charge on top doesnt count as us NPG er s getting "special" treatment. Sorry but, u need to do your homework if you are not familiar with a venue and how it operates. Remember its all about the music.

I appreciate everyone's opinions and we did do some research with regards to the venue.
about the "special" treatment... well... when you get used to a certain pattern and that pattern changes it's not that you feel dissed you just feel as though the treatment changed. that's all. Like a AAA member that doesn't get a road side pick up anymore. I said earlier in my posts that the next time i go to that venue i will just get a general admission ticket like the rest. But all along my anger was not because NPG didn't get "special" treatment but that folks in the will call line where still outside when the concert started. which meant folks that paid 31.21 and folks that paid 50+ had to wait in line for hours. That's just not right. Bad management. ANYWHO like I also said. I enjoyed the concert. Tamar was the BOMB. Cant wait for the 3121 concerts... (I will still buy an NPG ticket and i will still expect my road side assistance..LOL) 1 Thessalonians 5:23
