Chicago Afterparty at VISIONS Nightclub

Just got it confirmed over at NPGMC, the afterparty is planned to be at Visions Nightclub downtown. They stressed it was an afterPARTY and not an afterSHOW, but you never know what might happen if ol' boy is in the mood.

See ya there! cool

From this morning's RedEye newspaper, posted on NPGMC by a user:

Official Prince Concert After Party
Vision Nightclub
632 N. Dearborn St.

Court gestures

Whether you've already forked over $50 for tonight's Congress Theatre show featuring tiny powerhouse Prince and his New Power Generation with protege Tamar, or you plan on scoring last-minute tickets, we say caffeine up and party like it's Friday night at Vision Nightclub's official postconcert shindig. The royal crew holds court (we hear it's a sure thing he'll be there) until the wee hours; the spot's agreed to open just for him and as many of his friends as it can hold (that means you).

Feb. 27: midnight - 4 a.m.

Price: TBD ($20, max)
Phone: 312-266-1944

mad I AM SO JEALOUS!! My gut feeling is that he'll play...but then again, what the hell do I know? Damn, why couldn't I still be living in Chicago? pout
The check. The string he dropped. The Mona Lisa. The musical notes taken out of a hat. The glass. The toy shotgun painting. The things he found. Therefore, everything seen–every object, that is, plus the process of looking at it–is a Duchamp.

This is the only report I've found so far--from Housequake:

I'm back from the Afterparty at Vision (same house like Excalibour). The Price was 20$ at there was only Music for about 1 Hour (they closed at 4 am). Morris Hayes was first and he walked truh the club. at about 3:45 Tamar showed at the litle dance Platform together with aron. about 1 minute later showed Prince also there. He has the white coat from Versace, a black skull cap and white woll gloves. he shaked hand 2 fans and waved around. after 2 Minutes he walked off stage and all was over.
Cool, Prince for 2 Minutes for only 20$ !!
The show at Congress Theater was better than the MPLS show! it run about 10 Minutes longer. The hole show was filmed by 4 cameras! Prince played some Prince-Song snipets from The Cross, Bamby and later Housequake on Guitar.

On of the Spectators was Tommy Lee with Hat and Sunglases.

Hope it will soon gives a Prince 3121 Tour!!

B Funky Wundi Chicago Downtown.

So I was wrong about Prince playing at the Afterparty, but seems he did show a little extra love to Chicago by playing some Bambi & Housequake...

We left the concert early to get to the "after show" thinking that it might be full. We go there and were able to park in front of the place and there was a whole 10 people inside for about an hour or so, then at about 335am Prince walked in and up on there stage. and then walked away. That fast, however me and my husband did get to shake his hand, that in its self was so awesome and well worth the money. biggrin However the after show and all the hipe was very misleading.

the show was really great. the reports of prince playing bambi and housequake and the cross are true, but he just played one guitar line, teased everyone, got everyone to yell and scream and then moved on. it was still cool though. he just asked the crowd who in here know about the quake. everyone yelled we do and then he moved on. there was an announcement that the afterparty was at excalibur which i thought was odd because the news i heard was that the afterparty was at visions. these are not the same club if i am not mistaken. so what is the story? i am glad i didnt go to the afterparty. i was exhausted from the show. i went to a park west afterparty a few years ago after a chicago theater show and the same thing happened - prince was there, people were dancing, but i dont need to pay twenty dollars to be in the same room as prince after seeing a two hour prince concert. and it was so late i knew by the time i got there it would be almost closing time. anyway, the concert was awesome. better than i expected. the sound was not that great - but tamar seems like she can sing well. the band was solid - i was delighted with the drumming. i did not think i would like the dancers, but they had so much energy that it really kept the energy going in the room. the best was when tamar and the twins would come dancing onto the stage after the song already started and the place would just erupt. awesome. it was great to see prince in that type of role too. the only complaint that i had really beside the sound was when tamar would say things like, chicago dont know how to party - chicago you know how to party. its okay when prince says it, but apparantly that was tamars first time in chicago and me no likey when old girl comes to my town and tells me.....

we showed up at around 3:30ish and they told us that they'd probably be closing up in half an hour, and they were pretty intent on getting our twenty bucks from us for thirty minutes of fammy stargazing, so we decided IHOP would be a better option.

fyi: prince did not show up at IHOP for their february 28 free pancakes promotion. sad
