Stating that his father had abandoned him, only to return to his life at 22, the 25-year-old said it was only natural that he would turn to the streets and not older adults for wisdom and advice.
What a bunch of crap. Natural my ass, unless you're stupid ofcourse. There's nothing "natural" or logical about turning to the streets for wisdom or advice. You don't find wisdom on the streets and people that can't see that are just plain stupid. Guess they're the ones that have to learn the hard way...

Joey, I think sometimes there are different truths for different people. I think you can never fully understand the life of another because it's not your own.

Cuz lets face it, out in the street is where all the "natural, logical wise" people are. Like the guy peeing on side of that dumpster in the alley.

I think the guy in the article may have meant gang members by referening the streets. If you think about it a lot of young people get mixed up with gangs because they lack a family. Would you take advice from a sperm doner who shows up in your life when your 22 years old?

Joey, at the discussion at the Celebration, Michael Eric Dyson responded to that brother expressing much of the same logic you did, but in a way that the brother would be much more likely to embrace. Guess some folks feel like they gotta repudiate, while others try to redeem. But reading the rest of the article, I too "quest for liberating artistic models," especially hot ones like Tyra Banks & Kylie Minogue.
