Watch Out Now: Review Tamar @ The Filmore I got to the Filmore around 8ish and stood out in the cold with the rest of the crowd. I ran into the ususal suspects that I knew would show up. Too many to name but they know who they are . The doors opened at 10. The show was scheduled to start at 11:59 but actually started about 12:10. Thank you Miranda & Tina for letting my stand up front with you. While we were waiting the music was banging and the crowd was having a good time listtening to very very funky jam. Whoever chose the music big ups. I missed some song names so please forgive me.
For all of you that was wondering what she and Prince were wearing here it is: Ms Tamar came out on stage is a dress that would have made Tina Turner proud. It was a red sparkly number that was fierce and strappy high heels. The twin backup singers/dancers wore little black numbers with red accents. She later changed into a black outfit again with high heels Prince had on a red and black. The brotha is fine in whatever he wears (yes I know there have been a few WTH but hey thats just Prince:lol:) Ok now on with the show. Tamar came out and sang her first song and it was groovin. Sorry but I missed the name of the song and I am just not awake enough to try to remember. The crowd was loving it anyway. She continued in that same way with her 2nd tune. I think it was Red Headed Stepchild. Prince put a STANK on the guitar during his solo for this. Please lets hope that this will be on either 3121 or Tamars album. I missed the name of the next song as well but it was funky. She did another song named I think Love Changes. Now I know the song but not the lyrics or the orginal artist but she did a very good job with it. Now que in the beat to Play That Funky Music (Whiteboy) of course Prince was on the guitar playing that funky cut. She asked the crowd if anyone knows all the lyrics to it and someone said they did. That someone was named Steve and wow did he ever. Let me tell ya the whiteboy blew it out the box He sang it all the way to the chorus and then the crowd joined in. It was a sight to behold. Tamar pulled someone out the crowd and guess what it was our own Bay Area party in a box Bobby - luv ya man. She sat him down and asked a few questions and then launched into No, No, No ( you don't love me). Bobby was having the time of his life. I swear Prince must have told her who to look for and called him up there. She did a wonderful job with When A Man Loves A Woman that would have made Percy Sledge proud. One of the songs that she did was from her album Baby Stay With Me, now this will be a song that I think will get some radio play. She killed it. She wanted to take us higher and we wanted to go. This was fun and I loved it. She pulled a bit of Michael Jackson out the box and treated us to Don't Stop Til You Get Enough. Her backup singers/dancers did Janets What Have You Done For Me Lately. The last song of the night was Beautiful, Loved And Blessed. I must say that I really loved this song. I believe that this will be her 1st single on the upcomming album. She sang this song with complete honesty and feeling. I know that she will be a force to be reconded with when she finally comes out to the world. This sista girl is gonna take to from the church to the juke joint and you will have a funky good time being along for the ride. Now on to Prince. As you know this was not a Prince concert but Tamars. Think of him as being that lil something something that you can't figure out in your favorite dish that makes it so special if you know what I mean. Prince did a really funky rendition of Partyman that had the place rocking and the chandalers swaying. His licks on Love Rollercoaster were classic Prince. He also did a bit of Lenny's American Woman that I loved. Prince if your reading this PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE annouce tour dates I need a funky fix. Tixs: $31.21 Gas: $20.00 Waiting for the doors to open: 1hr The show: Priceless [Edited 1/31/06 11:26am] Just Call Me Afrochick
