Review of the Montreal show (English) Ok ! I'll try to come down from cloud 9 and do a bit of a review !
Yesterday, I died ! My whole boddy is still numbed from the MOST wonderfull evening of my life. From the very beginning, and for almost 3 hours, my heart was pounding, my feet dancing, my hands clapping and my voice shouting and singing !!! No wonder I still feel so disconnected. And Him ! Prince ! What a King !! With his superb Red suit, who would think that undoing a shirt colar button would be sooo sexy :-p !! The song I coul'nt believe : Days of Wild ! My God it was wild all right ... what a groove ... the croud was going crazy. I met a young couple that were about, I'd say 25 and unfortunately, they left about 3/4 the show ... they did'nt know most of the songs ... BUT I DID (am I that old ) And the encore: A Man Alone with his Piano : WONDERFULL I HAVE FALLEN BACK IN LOVE WITH HIS MUSIC !! But, 1 tiny down side: no aftershow. Well anyway none was announced after the show ... but it was already 11:30 when i left and my boss was expecting me the next morning ... That's it for now, may post more later ... Any review on the souns check would be welcomed Chatou

BUT I DID (am I that old ) I know there are a lot of casual fans out there who probably have gone to the One Night Alone concert expecting nothing but the "greatest hits". I can sympathize with those fans feeling somewhat dissappointed because it's obvious by the look on their faces that Prince is playing all of these songs they've never heard and they just can't grasp it all in one setting like that -especially when their hearts were probably already set on hearing mostly "hits" all night. But from my point of view (a die-hard), I'm just really glad that Prince has decided to move forward and not simply rely on his greatest hits to pull in a crowd. Sure, the more Prince creates and performs newer material, the smaller the crowds will become over time. But at the same time, I'm sure he'll gain some new fans along the way. To me though, all that's okay as long as Prince continues to do what he honestly feels in his heart. Prince said he was "free" in 1996. But to me, the release of The Rainbow Children and the One Night Alone tour is the first time I ever really and truly felt his freedom expressed so purely through his art. -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If people are going to be disappointed when an artist doesn't do all their greatest hits, then fuck them. When I go to a concert, I expect to hear new, current songs from the artist and a few oldies, but goodies thrown in for good measure. If anyone expected Prince to do all his 80's songs, then they shouldn't have been at the concert. There were many people that did not get tickets to these concerts because they were sold out. These poor people are bigger fans than that silly couple that got up and left 3/4 the way into the show. I was absolutely thrilled with Prince's choice of songs and if some people didn't know any of his current music, then they should've left the tickets for his true, long-suffering fans. IMO! p.s. thanks for the review. I am also still flying high from the toronto show. He is the man!!!

NP for the report ! And you know what ? I had a pretty good ticket (7th row on floor) but a women that i met in the restaurant 1/2 hour before the show told me she bought her 3nd row ticket THE SAME MORNING !!! (not from a scalper)
I was in shock. This means they had blocked some tickets and poor little me who waited in line on the day tickets went on sale could'nt get them and that women who was just on a business trip in Montreal got a better than I !!! That's not fair !! As for his set list, it was perfect ! Actually, I would'nt even mind if he would'nt play the oldies ... (Days of Wild was pretty good ...) I'd rather ear all newer stuff Chatou
