Winnipeg show after thoughts So after paying 160$ for a ticket and 40 dollars for a baby tee that has cheap silk screen and 20$ foir beer ohhh and another 30$ for the after party...tell me was it all worht it...HELL NO!!!
ALthough Prince might have gotten out of his contract with Warner it sure seems like he was tacking note on how to be a money grabbing capitalist. It seems he is going against everything he preches about...he just stepped on his fellow bothers and sisters ( his fans ) to cach in on a big pay day. Come on I mean the after party veniew costs 2000$ to rent, he has guitars that are worht 10 times that and he has the balls to charge his fans an extra 30 ontop of what they already paid. It must be nice to have a Private Jet to be able to buy a 5.5 million dollar mansion in Toronto. How do you sleep at night Prince know you are evrything that is wrong in this world. Next time before you go preaching at your show take a good long look in the mirrror and tell me you are doding all you can for your fellow man. And for those of you people going..." I did not have to pay for the after party I am a member of his cult"...opps I mean club. Well I mope the 160$ Canadaian a year is worht it...

I agree, offthehook. I think the prices are waaay high. I think Prince is great and I love to have the kind of up-close access that we have with the npgmusicclub. However, not everybody has this kind of money required to be a devout Prince fan. I definitely spent less on Prince, when he was with Warner Bros. I mean, he's gotta recoup those non-existent advances SOMEHOW but to charge the devout fans so much just because some will pay it, is kinda shady.

Only people that went to a compariable show--preshow, concert, and aftershow-- and also paid for all 3(i thought members got into the preshow and aftershow for free most of the time??), can comment here. That doesn't leave much room does it?
Yeah, those prices sound high, but did he play all 3 shows? Likely yes. Were the shows great? That's up to you, and now you know if you if you ever want to do it again. He didn't force you to be a fan, nor pay the prices for tix.(although if you play '1+1+1 is 3' backwards, it says "pay any price for the concerts you dumb MF!") There's no way he can PROMISE that every fan- member or not-is going to get what they feel is their money's worth. I go to a restaurant...the food sucks and i paid too much for it...i don't go again. Not unless it's gonna get me laid. WA HA!!

New song from Prince and the NPG:

It's not cheap touring and if he is to make any money at all on a theatre tour, he has to charge those prices. He is not making the same amount that he made years ago when he was signed to a major label.

sure prices are high, but that doesn't mean he's "everything that is wrong in this world". Bullocks.
BTW, if that price is too high for you, why did you go? And why the fuck did you buy a baby tee? Pfff...

Unfortunately, everybody can not afford Prince's
prices; just like everyone can't afford silk suits, or Beemers or 2 carat diamond solitaires. Whom do you complain to about that? It's a cold world! U have to pay to play. __ [This message was edited Fri Jun 7 15:15:01 PDT 2002 by fam1914]

hmmm.
gotta agree/disagree...that make sense? i dropped the $160+CDN for my row 11 seat which was close enough to soak in the funk. after that experience, i have no doubt it was all worth it. i didn't go to the $30 aftparty b/c a) i was mad hungry, b) i was mad tired and c) i was mad broke. sure, i would probably have gone if there was no admission to the rendezvous aftparty but i don't regret not goin'. his walker show was all that and a plate of curried veg & rice! .::'xpert lover, my baby. ever had a crystal ball?' - crystal ball::.

Does Prince have a private jet?

Prince never disagreed about making money in his dipute w/ WB. He disagreed with how much money they made off of his releases.
Prince is an artist, yes, but he is not above making money and if he can get what he charges for what he does then he will continue to charge the max. I'm firmly planted in denial

well I must say I just read that the ticket prices for the after partyu did go to his carity...so I guess there is a plus in that. The fact is that Prince is now making tons of money. He himself has said during his JAM OF THE YEAR tour that he made more money that year than he did when purplae rain came out. He is a verry good musician no question about that...and I will go see him again I just don't think I will be paying 150...thanks for all the great comments...

Well lets say this:
music tshirts have been bad quality since as long as i can remember. sure they could be better but nobody made u buy it...that aint the music. beer prices are set by the venue. nobody forced that down your throat.that aint the music either. prince doesnt charge his fans $30 to get into an afterparty, his fans are members. the public is charged that money, set by the club hosting it. it is a lot of money for the whole package, but whats so funny is that people act as if they didnt see it coming...nothing was a hidden charge here. u read all the reprts listing all the afterparty prices, and u can decide if u wanna go. u made the decision. when i made all my decisions the past 2 years or so, i was happy with the result. the celebrations cost alot. i knew they would. i had a blast. so for you to exclaim it wasnt worth it for you, hey thats fine. dont blame pirnce. u knew the prices and the choices beforehand. this site is more than a warning. of course hes making money. hes been a hyporcrite on every issue he addresses...wake up. did he step on you? well u laid down in front of him before he had the chance to ask. if u dont support him, u win...if u do, then shut up. oh and not that it should matter, but he dont have a private jet. the 160 is more than worth it. ive stepped outside of my town to see some shows. even if he wasnt coming to toronto/hamilton this week, its already worth it. Next time before you go preaching at your show take a good long look in the mirrror and tell me you are doding all you can for your fellow man
so you're saying if he lowered his concert ticket, had cheaper beer and better quality shirt, THEN would he be doing more for his fellow man? at least in your eyes. why didn't u donate what u spent at his show to a charity? he entertains. u go. then u complain...is there something missing? no. I've been to 3 ONA shows and every one has been worth it in my opinion. Prince is an awesome musician. I just went to the Usher concert last week and - yes it cost less than a Prince concert and yes you get what you pay for! It was SO obvious from my 12th row seat that Usher was lip-syncing half the songs so that he could dance and dodge the pyrotechnics. So yes, yes it is worth it to me to see a real musician play and sing real music. But I respect your opinion - and your willingness to voice it. Peace! Lisa
