Am I the only with wishful thinking 4 N.Sea Jazz Festival? I mean, Maceo, Candy, Sheila will be there. There's been word that other NPG bandmates might also be there. And, Maceo is playing last in his night, starting @ 11.30pm. Does this not make any1 else wonder if Prince might show uP?

I am sure Candy Dulfer, who likes the Nortsea Jazz festival very much, will have pointed out to her collegues that this is the very last chance to see the festival in The Hague, where it started 30 years ago. It will move to Rotterdam in 2006 and many people fear it will never be the same.
So even if Prince doesn't want to join in on stage, it would be a good idea for him to go see NSJ. Ofcourse I hope he'll join Maceo on stage.....

If He shows up, we have the story to tell on the org. Everyone will hate us for it!
Then again i don't think he will go all the way to Holland just for 30 minutes of fun with his mates.

Enough space on my floor, for u, a bed even, and free beer. But i don't live in The Hague... I live one-and-ahalf-hour away.

Hey Y'all,
Happy NSJF to everyone! Wish I was there!!! I've been lucky to attend 2 North Sea festivals in the last few years, and it's definitely the Super Bowl of Jazz to me!!! The Dutch always know how to party, and Candy and her band have always been a big part of each year's performances. In my opinion, the potential for Prince to make a surprise appearance is huge, and if he doesn't make it then someone in the bunch funked up! Think about it... You know that everyone loves Prince in the EU, and Candy would love to include him as a special surprise guest to her band, especially since she's got almost everybody that's a member of the NPG band in this tour's line-up! If you look at what the festival website says about Candy's line-up, a major clue exists in that they have listed the bass player as TBA (see below). In the last few years Candy has always had a great bass player in her band Funky Stuff, so this can only mean that they are keeping a secret that RHONDA will be on bass, and PRINCE will be there too as they only have 75 mins to JAMMMM!!! This has to happen y'all, it just must! If Prince doesn't play at a JAZZ festival on their 30th anniversary show, on the very last night of the 3-day event, with Maceo Parker's band being the grand finale in the same hall as Candy, then someone's smoking crack!!! It would be like the time Prince cancelled his tour many years ago while Candy and Funky Stuff were the opening band. It was not right and she was strong enough to tell him how much he funked up! So again, between Candy, Sheila E, and Maceo already being there, someone had to have proposed this idea to Prince and he HAS to be there, it seems like something too good for Prince to pass up. Sure wish I could be there to see it!!! I hope someone at the festival records the show and produces a CD of the highlights at some point in the future. And next year I hope to be back for the 2006 NSJF which will be held in Rotterdam at the Ahoy. I've been blessed with seeing and meeting Candy and Prince at several key shows in the past few years, and they have so much chemistry together, it only makes sense that they JAMMMM together on Sunday night in NL. LET IT BE!!! Peace and love to you all and keep on jammin'... S2DoggyDog Line-up: Candy Dulfer (alto sax, vocals); Chance Howard (keyboards, vocals); Ulco Bed (guitar); Thomas Bank (keyboards); t.b.a. (bass); John Blackwell (drums); Special guest: Sheila E. (percussion)

That is not exactly what the presenter said: he said rumours are spreading about a guest appearance during North Sea Jazz this Sunday. And that is true: those rumours started since today’s line-up with Dulfer/Parker/Blackwell etc. was announced months ago. So nothing’s new. If there had been sightings of Prince in Holland lately that would not have been rumours, media would have mentioned it. If I missed this I would really like to know.

Very true. Strange though that the festival has no comment on the subject. The festival is sold out for weeks now, so no need fot purle rumours.

And: the festival’s musicians hotel Bell Air deny Prince being a guest, an employee of the venue forwarded my question about a surprise visit by Prince to the festival organisation: they deny Prince being there. Broadcasters NPS don’t answer the phone (probably all going to watch Prince not playing) and Mojo concerts & Sony Netherlands don’t answer the phones on Sunday. Al Green on Friday was the best, I am off to the Hague beach.

And: according to Candy's site (www.candydulfer.nl) Michel van Schie is playing bass tonight, not R. Smith

wat heerlijk die speculatie.
personally i think Prince won't perform. it would be kinda unfair to Candy (and Sheila as a special guest) since she is the one that is headlining. oh, and if i am right, don't start complaining 'well, he should have been there'. and if i am not right, then i will be ripping all my hair out. including body hair. yes SIR!
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
I would expect everyone at the festival to deny any truth that Prince is actually there due to the chaos that would ensue if anyone revealed the secret in advance. I'm not sure if he has ever played this festival before either, anyone know??? It's an awesome festival and I'm bummin' bigtime that I couldn't make it back this year. And if the Purple One does appear with Candy and band I'll have to only hope they record it and I'll buy it on CD at the next year's festival at the Ahoy. Sure will miss the facility in DH and the proximity to the beach and Scheveningen... Waiting to see if any other clues develop somewhere within the next 3 hours...

One other interesting note... I found the following post by 'Jack' on the NSJF website in the Forums and have been trying to translate it (my Dutch is basic)... Anyone in NL understand what this says???
BREAKING NEWS: PRINCE KOMT!
