Well, that was the next best thing to being over there! Thanks/Dankuwel to the folks at Radio 2 and the remo-cam for making it possible for people like me who could not make it back over there this year to at least see and hear the show!!! I will miss the shows in The Hague which has always been a wonderful place to party and hang out with the greatest jazz musicians in the world with some lovely people all around you. Those Nederlands dames are mooi and sooo much fun to be with PROOST TO THIS YEAR'S NSJF and see you all there at the show next year @ the Ahoy!

Check back with y'all in a few hours when MACEO takes the stage in the Statenhal @ 22:30 NL time... Still think it's possible that they will all come out near the end of his set and just TEAR THE PLACE UP (especially since it's the last night of the last show at this venue), and someone's gotta tear it down right???

breaking news: prince is coming!

saturday afternoon: i was eating some nice piece of fish, when Hans Mantel comes and sits next to me. saturday afternoon they were recording the leader for the broadcast of sunday. several acts being broadcast by NPS were mentioned, including Candy Dulfer and Sheila E and "maybe Prince will come to show up". this is something you won't just mention in a leader. a bit later i spoke to him and he said that Prince likes showing up at places without any notice. i am counting on it.


Is Hans Mantel living in the eighties? Can anyone put Hans in a big sousaphone and blow the horn so hard he drops in the North Sea?
