Prince in Los Angeles - Kodak Theater 04/20/02

Just wanted to say to whoever is reading this that no matter what the critics say about Prince losing his "original" following of fans, they are whack! Mr. Prince Rogers Nelson still rocks the house like no other "Artist" can! (No pun intended)

My wife and 8-year old daughter ( a converted Prince fan) enjoyed every single moment of Prince while he was rockin' the Kodak! The songs, Rainbow Children and Muse to The Pharoah sound so good live! My little girl screamed her lungs out when he broke out with "How Come You Don't Call Me Anymore". She thought Alicia Keys sang the original. I told her you are looking at the "Originator" on stage.

To anyone who was at the Kodak Theater on 04/20/02, please enter your comments on "His Royal Badness". The true Prince fans would love to hear from U.

Thanks!

Tell ur daughter she picked a very tight artist 2 listen 2. I play Prince 4 my 6yr old son all the time. He has no choice. Ha Ha But he likes it. I got him singing the songs with me.

Yeap, i was there...

I was the 1 n the 3rd row, standing on her seat 4 half the show, blocking everybody's view untils some1 told me they could not c... sorry about that!

Well anyway, if y'all thought the concert was off the hook u shouldda been @ the HOuse of Blues afterparty that night. i was front row/ center. Prince spit on me while he was singin' a couple of times, but i still love him smile

the 7+ hours n line was well worth it, not 2 mention the 1 hour or so n line @ the HOuse of Blues (don't even ask me how i got n 1st after such a short w8 n line -- I ain't tellin'!).

I would have the say that the show was Xcelent. but Irvine Meadows '97 (the only other show i was able 2 c) was just aobut as Xcelent n it's own other way as well. Well, this time, prince didn't 'grind his piana' & do a whole bunch of splits & stuff, which i must admit i kind of missed cuz when he does stuff like that, it drives me wild. Me & alot of the other girls anyway.

This show was real clean this time. I must admit I miss the dirty side of Prince. But he comes across 'clean' n such a good way that u hardly even notice till u think real hard about it.

Only part of the show i didn't appreciate so much is when a lady @ the afterparty took out the time 2 tell me that i should not went 2 both shows with a shirt on like the 1 i had on.... my shirt was very low cutt, yes my "rack" was quite prominent n blouse i had on. i was partying & i thought i was sexy. (keep n mind that i say I THOUGHT IT WAS SEXY ) well anyway, she went on as 2 say that prince is w/ her as apart of the Jahova's Witness Community & not that type of person he used 2 b & that he doesn't like people wearing revealing clothes that have their juggs hanging all out. As if she was saying that Prince wouldn't approve of what i had on!!!

Needless 2 say, I didn't consider what prince would think when i got dressed that morning 4 the show, u know! he's DA MAN & everything. but hey, i'm a grown woman. I was dressed party-appropriate & i will wear what i please. NO MATTER WHO LIKES IT OR NOT.

Eventhough prince is PRINCE. i have my own mind. & how the f*c% does she know what Prince digs nowadays. Just cuz they're the same religion... so what?

I was there & loved every minute of it. I was shocked he started on time, I think other Prince fans were 2, what about U?

I also missed some of the (nasty) stuff he used 2 do but the music & mood was so awesome I hardly noticed til later. He was still smokin' hot.

I couldn't believe some "fans" were in the lobby complaining about not hearing Lil Red Corvette & Purple Rain, I'm so over that period. I LOVE the new, mature Prince.

I actually think he's at the top of his game again, he blew me away

Hey, remember me. I was also at the aftershow standing behind you. I totally agree with you. Do you remember that great conversation that we had? We exchanged numbers and said we would contact each other. Unfortunately, I somehow lost your number. Could you give it to me again?

It's so hard to put into words how incredible this concert and this whole experience was. This was my 3rd Prince concert. The 1st was 97 Jam of The Year @ Hollywood Bowl & 2nd was Hit & Run Vegas 2000. This concert was so slammin and kicked so damn hard that it made the other 2 concerts look like an impostor put them on. No lie.

I've been a fan since I was 9. I'm 32 now. I missed out on Prince in his prime, you know tours like Purple Rain or Lovesexy. I've felt such a void all these years, even though I've attended the 2 concerts mentioned above. As great as JOTY & H&R tours were, I went away knowing that I didn't experience Prince in his full Glory. Those shows were but a mere shadow of the man. This show in LA more than made up for everything I missed the first time around. Prince and the band really threw down so hard. Prince wailed on the guitar alllll niiiiight looooong. I never thought I'd see him really play like that. At times he looked possessed. And other times, even though what I was hearing indicated that he should be having an epileptic fit, his hands rode up and down furiously on the guitar as he simply stood there with a calm nonchalant look on his face whilst chewing gum. The master at work!!! Seeing this, I would match him up against any guitarist any day. I’d have no problem putting money on it, I’ve seen the glory and it will be.

The JOTY & H&R tours, I had seating almost as far back as you could get. I watched an ant with Prince's voice those 2 times. SOOOOO, IMAGINE HOW FLIPPED OUT WITH HAPPINESS I WAS WHEN I GOT 3rd ROW SEATING AT THE CONCERT!!!!! Technically it was first row but they set up 2 rows of chairs in front of it. To compound my joy even further, I was 5 feet from the stage at the afterparty. To expound my joy even further than that, Sheila E played at the aftershow. Seeing Prince and Sheila E together made me want to cry, especially since you could see the camaraderie between them as they were laying down the groove. If you thought I couldn't get happier, I am filled with so much joy that Prince played "Can't stop this feeling I got", "Money Don't Matter Tonight", Strange Relationship, When you were mine, ADORE!!! (in my top 5 faves of all time), I wanna be your lover, CONDITION OF THE HEART!!!, Starfish & Coffee, ANNASTESIA!!! (another in my top 5 faves of all time) , BEAUTIFUL STRANGE & a rocking rendition of Calhoun Square. All songs I never ever thought I'd ever get to hear & I got to hear them played with such conviction.

Man, I still can't believe this night. It will live with me into the next lifetime. I will not even entertain any arguments in favor of Prince losing his talent or edge. Prince aint lost a damn thing and this was righteous proof.

THE STILL LINGERING AFTERGLOW!

I still cannot believe I sat where I did- 1st row!!
I have to thank OTHERS for that... PRINCE, NPGMC & L.A. Bumpsquad.
BOTH shows & aftershows In L.A. are haunting.
ANY bad mood I find myself trying to sway to this week, gets overpowered by the memories of LAST WEEKEND!!.

I keep hearing "ROGERS" saying from friday night's aftershow....

"L.A. ....It Ain't Over"

Peace 2 ALL!!

I was there. I took a friend who is what i call a "casual" Prince fan, and he was blown away! (He actually said that "Nothing Compares 2 U" was a Sinead O'Connor song...lol, but i quickly corrected him on that error razz ) This was my third Prince concert (1st one was Lovesexy back in 89 in Japan,a nd the second was Hit and Run in San Diego last year) and needless to say this was the best! Got to be 10th row center, which waaaaay better than where I was for the last 2. Thanks to Prince and the NPGMC for making it all possible!

Helloooo,
At the Kodak, Saturday, I was in the first row also.. I laughed, I cried, It was a Phenomenal experience... I think Prince is like most of us. We grow spiritually and change some things we don't like about ourselves.. His music hasn't changed for the worst.. It's getting better and so is He.. He looked so good.. and happy too.
I went to my first after-show Friday night, and was BLOWN away.. It was like a dream to see him up there on the small stage.. I had to pinch myself... I loved watching his facial expressions when he played his out-of-control riffs...
I hope he comes to Vegas.. I HAVE TO go to another aftershow... (pray)
