FUCK YOU, FUCK YOU

SHIT, this is a SOUNDCHECK, you should be glad you were there, cuz he's the only artist allowing this!!!

I've always thought (and still think to a large extent) that Prince was an asshole, but how can you possibly complain about the soundchecks ? It is just a shame. It is with suckers like you that all this will end, when he'll have enough receiving bullshit gifts and so little response from an indifferent crowd in which everyone will be expecting its own private version of an obscure song. And however long was the time you waited for, you don't deserve an aftershow! These days it seems that some fans who do not receive 7 hours of music (2+3+2) are disapointed!

Man, Prince is so on point with this new tour and his musical direction. Ya'll trippin. I dont care what he is inspired by just as long as he's inspired. Believe me its better for all of us if theres something in his life that gives him a passion to want to write, release music and perform live. People at the LA show i was at were going absolutly insane. It was well worth the club membership for the music alone. And a friggan jazz fusion album?! i mean c'mon people!

I cannot speak for everyone, but I think that some fans are disappointed because Prince's motives and methods of choosing which cities receive the extras are slightly suspect.

If he were truely letting the spirit move him when selecting which cities to grant extras to, then would he really be going all out to give perks and extras to entertainment capitals such as NYC and LA while the cities with just "regular" folks once again get no aftershows?

Los Angeles was the *only* city on this tour that received not one but TWO aftershows.

It's like he cares more about making a big impression for celebrity guests than he does about pleasing his everyday fans.

Thanks for the detailed report, Rudedog! I knew one of the experts would put it down wink Here's my take on Oakland's Beautiful Experience.....

This show was the BEST I've ever seen! I think the Oakland Soundcheck was better last year (the very first one, btw) because he talked more to us and played more songs. This soundcheck was more of a jam session, but I loved it when we all got up and started dancing!

I honestly didn't know what to expect because I purposely tried not to read in too much detail the other cities' shows. Not being the biggest jazz fan, I was thinking it was gonna be more of (again) a jam session of sorts. It did actually start out that way, but when the FUNK hit, it tore through the gorgeous Paramount Theatre like a Minneapolis snow storm! I was overwhelmed with seeing and hearing TRC LIVE! P gave me a whole new appreciation for it! I think the visuals added depth to the show and of course to what Prince was singing and talking about.

There are way too many details to remember, but overall Prince seemed more mature and yet back to his silly self at the same time! I loved when he was talking about you know how we all have that one drunk uncle who dances like this and proceeded to dance like an old drunk man, sticking his booty out and kinda jerking around off-beat! It was soo funny! I love when he's playful like that! And, what about when he brought up that elderly man to dance, that was some funny stuff!

Prince noticed Bobby's long purple fur coat at Souncheck, so when he said something like, "Hey, Pimp u need to get up here and dance", I knew it was 'bout to be ON! Everybody started saying, "GO BOBBY, GO BOBBY", so when P said, Oakland, do u claim him?" There was no doubt, Bobby had almost as many fans as he does wink Prince asked a girl on stage, but she was actually too shy and started crying, it was really touching. Everyone kept trying to get her to go, up I even practically pushed her (sorry, girl if you're reading this, it was all in love). Like I said, she started crying and Prince mentioned it and said, "bless your heart" with a smile. He later sang "Strange Relationship" and when he says, "I don't wanna make you cry", he looked right over and pointed to her....I'm sure that was just as nice as if she'd gone on stage.

Since she didn't want to go, my girl Vickie got chosen and was up there with Bobby for quite a few songs...GO VICKIE, GO VICKIE! I won't tell you how early she got out there, but let's just say that for all of us that were the first ones out there yesterday morning and had to go through the whole Line-up D-R-A-M-A....it was sooo worth it, witnessing that show Front Row! And I'm soo happy Vickie got devirginized wink

There are so many details to remember that as I admitted a couple days ago, I'll leave the Prince Show Reviews to the experts, however I agree with Alan D. that this show had the BEST set list I've ever had the honor of witnessing!!! And was it me, or did Prince's voice seem to sound like Buttah?!?! Like cherry wine, he keeps getting better with time....

Much love and props to my girls, but especially Barbi who was a straight soldier with me in line....we were willing to do the Work and look what happend, girlfriend!!!!! smile

*Love, Truth, and Harmony*

P.S. I don't think I've ever been to a show where we were singing more than he was!!! wink

Rudedog.....your review was right on!!!! I live in LA and got to see both aftershows. For FAMS like you, I wish he had done an aftershow. The HOB Saturday night jam was off tha hook. Curtain opened with FULL band (LG, Maceo, Sheila, and NPG) and they got fonky!!!!

My main reason for leaving this post is to address the "whining" ass fans EVERYWHERE. Religion this, soundcheck that.....why all the complaining?? I dont see R. Kelly, Usher, or any of these other WANNABEE's taking the time to set up ticket sales for their MOST loyal fans. Why is it that people become critics, even after getting more than bargained for. Be glad that he even played in yo town, and keep encouraging the MAN to produce his work!!! Not trying to diss anyone, but damn, look up Rudedog and find out what class is all about. Its not about "ass-kissing" its about following the FUNK. Thats it!!!

Peace.....

During the show, a short lady with a long red skirt, white shirt with long straight hair, walked in front of me (2nd row stage left) with a security guard and she was video taping the show. Everyone started saying it was Mani. I couldn't tell, especially with the straight hair. Did anyone else see her? Was it really her?

Yeah, that was her. I saw her videotaping while she was at stage right. At that time, she was wearing a long red skirt, black top, and FLY red and black hat (exactly the kind P wears).

Prince could easily afford a professional film crew tape the show, so the fact that he had his wife do it gives an air of REALNESS....I could just see them chillin' in their living room with popcorn watching the show smile

Folks started bitching cause everybody pays about the same, but some get 6 hours of music and others get 3 hours of music.

This is it and I'm outta here. For real this time. Thanks a lot to those who understood. My post was more of a warning to those expecting anything special for their extra money. I expected nothing during the soundcheck, I just want others to know its not that special. I think the smaller cities actually get the better soundcheck for obvious reasons but he usually makes up for that with the larger cities with an aftershow. And I know lots of people who have seen him in smaller venues all throught he years, he couldn't fill an arena like Britney now, so don't even go there. AND I've said the Concert was Great!!! But non-members got a great concert as well I'm talking about his whole "join the club" thang, I don't think its all that. But we could go back and forth on this forever I'm sure, yadda yadda yadda.

Just want people to know that your really not guaranteed shit, not even a seat in the first fifteen rows, some people even had to go to the balcony cause there weren't enough seats below. So what I'm saying is if you want a lifetime (more bang for your buck) experience you have to be in the first few rows, so get there early!!

Good luck!

Great review, rudedog!

I just have to say it really amazes me that people get upset if all they get is a BAD-ASS THREE HOUR CONCERT, sitting in good seats... as if that wasn't enough.

The show was awesome and the soundcheck was way cool (SOUND CHECK - as in checking the sound). Seems like with all this silly complaining, we may not get access to many more of those, so I'm just happy I got to be there.

I think we should all be happy with what we got. I sure am. biggrin

Ever notice that shows sound different if your sitting/standing in a different spot?...

I've heard folks in the front row talk about how they couldn't hear what Prince was saying during the soundcheck. As for me, I could hear everything just fine from my spot in the 5th row. That's one of the ironic things about concerts. If you're right up front, most likely there aren't any speakers pointing your way except maybe the amps that are on stage. So from my spot, the soundcheck was great. And the SHOW... well, you all know how great that was. biggrin

I'm so glad because she almost made me cry too! Your girl was the only one, besides me, who had the BALLS to stand up to that annoying woman who kept saying she was "not a fan but a friend of Prince's".....yeah, that's why she was there ALL DAY in line.....whuuuteeever.....she kept saying she was doing US a "courtesy" by taking peoples names down. Sounds good in theory, but we were all there for a reason to get the best seats, so as long as the person behind me doesn't mind, why shouldn't I be able to hold spots for my friends who couldn't call in sick like I did??? WHO THE HECK asked for her friggin' COURTESY anyway! If anything, she did a great job of making us feel like we were in the army and had to conform to rules which were not even NPG RULES!

I was ready to kick her ass..TWICE.....all in the name of courtesy.... wink I understand that it doesn't seem fair for one to hold spots for their friends, but when one is in line at 6am, they have alot more say than one who shows up at 3pm, dig? What really isn't fair is all the people that came LATE and cut in line with their friends, which they did in Oakland, after we'd been there ALL DAY!!!

Bottom line is, What works in one city, may not work in another and a FAN should not try and REGULATE, it's up to the people to decide what they are willing and not willing to do.....such as life!

That's too bad about the line cutting in Oakland. From the reports I read, people have been respecting each other's place in line in most cities, even in the big cities like Los Angeles and New York.

Actually, the New York folks reported cutting too! For the most part, the cutting didn't happen until 30min-1hr before soundcheck. It never ceases to amaze me when people show up at the last minute and think it's ok to cut. Atleast I was being "courteous" by being one of the first ones in line and making sure to clear it with the person behind me. I don't condone cutting of any kind, but if you want to be up close you should be willing to be there EARLY, like we were!

Before people start imposing rules, make sure it's OK with everyone.....don't hide behind NPG....unless it's posted on their website, don't believe anyone's "RULES".

Hey Gigi!

It was nice to finally meet you after seeing you at all of the Princely functions. (I was the one infront of you with the braids and the hat)

Girl you cracked me up with your Chris Rock voice, "Is that J. Lo!?!"

Funny how we all cleaned up nicely after coming to stand in line all day looking like we were gonna do yardwork.
