Prince performing entire albums would be a bootlegger's dream . . . if this does go down, I hope he decides to sell them . . . (I asked him at last year's soundcheck if he had plans for releasing live music, he said yeah so maybe this will be it . . . .I'd stop at nothing for some live music!!)

About a year ago, I think Cheap Trick did the whole album in one night at the HOB for 2 of their albums. Great, if like Cheap Trick, "I want u to want me."

Yeah they did three shows in England. And each night they played entire albums. Cheap Trick, In Color and Heaven Tonight. Now hes mentioned this, what albums do you think deserve the treatment! I would like to see...

Lovesexy
The Truth (That would be interesting!)
Parade
The Rainbow Children

Actually these are more like the albums i think he would consider doing...maybe SOTT too. I would love to hear the Gold Experience but cannot see it happening with those lyrics, Come would also be pretty neat.

He will play the following albums:

Sly and the Family Stone: Stand!
Sly and the Family Stone: There's a Riot Going On
Santana: Abraxas
SUPERJOINT RITUAL - http://www.superjointritual.com
A Lethal Dose of American Hatred

I can smell "Lovesexy Live 2002" coming on in early autumn as one of the four discs we'll get from the npgmc.

Now that would be freezerburncompared2cool!

I think this may be the same as his saying if u came to get your purple rain on, go home, and then he plays it at the end, no?

that would be boring. youd know exactly what was going to come next after every single song. thats what makes prince good live - the unpredictability. well he might switch up the orders but still - who really wants to hear the whole of diamonds and pears, jughead and push included?

he should do the whole of NEW albums - that would be more ineresting.

It would be fantastic if he would perform Lovesexy in it's entirety, but I really hope he stays away from albums he'd have to butcher in order to make them jive with his JW-inspired beliefs. I mean, he definitely would have to majorly edit albums like Dirty Mind or Controversy . My luck, I'd go to the show and he'd play an album I hate, like Batman !

Okay. If he must play an entire album. We should request:

June 21 - For You/Lovesexy
June 22 - Graffiti Bridge
June 23 - Parade/Batman
June 24 - SOTT
June 25 - Diamonds & Pearls
June 26 - Symbol
June 27 - The B-Sides!/The Exodus Has Begun/Baby from For You

I don't arrive until June 23 or 24 - depending on how tired I am from my vacation - so, I can miss those three albums.

His doesn't have to play not one song from the following albums:

1. PURPLE RAIN!!!! - I'm tired of this album.
2. TRC - He's touring on this so we don't need to hear it. But, I guess he will play it since Minneapolis is not on his tour schedule and the Celebration is considered his Minneapolis tour date.

Albums I would love to hear but he won't play because of the sex, anger, and raw lust!

1. Prince
2. Dirty Mind
3. Controversy
4. 1999 - Too commercial for the Prince against radio.

Isn't it interesting that the albums that put Prince ahead of the industry (1979-1982), are his rarest crown jewels dripping with sexual innuendos.

At the soundcheck in Chicago, Prince asked us (March 2), if he should give GM Little Red Corvette for their next year's model. I told him ask for $12 million like Microsoft paid the Stones for Start Me Up. He said, it wasn't about the money. We kept telling him to DO IT!!!! Because, everytime we see a red corvette, we start singing his song. What is up with Prince and this song?

He could definitely leave those off for me, probably because I wasn't impressed with the Nude and Act I/II tours that supported those albums... and since my first concert was Lovesexy which I wouldn't mind seeing again, I'd vote for the old stuff that I've never seen him perform.

My picks would be (in no particular order):

Prince/Controversy
Parade
Sign o the Times
Exodus
Madhouse 8/16
Lovesexy
The Family/Jill Jones
The Truth (some portions) with a set of all his acoustic guitar friendly songs

And I don't know where it would fit, but I would really have an eargasm if I could see him play "Just My Imagination" a la 1988's "Small Club" performance.

Don't believe a word of it. You'll pay hundreds of dollars in expenses, travel, motel, etc...and halfway through the week Prince will get bored and cancel his appearances.

Paisley will give you the "nothing is guaranteed and plans can change at any time" response. Meanwhile, you will have $600-$1,000 in charges on your credit card to pay.

At the LA (4/20) soundcheck...Prince said that they have been talking about performing a different album in its entirety EACH NIGHT at the Celebration this year! He mentioned "Lovesexy" and the crowd went nuts! But then he said there are certain songs he'll never perform again...then mentioned "Red Corvette". WOW! (I posted this in the Celebration area too...sorry if that was in bad form smile )

I'd certainly would like to hear something like that (especially Lovesexy).

Pink Floyd used to play complete albums in the 70s (Dark Side of the moon was played in its entirety at virtually all concerts from 1972-1975 and also again in 1994, Wish you were here was played completely from 1975-1977, Animals was played completely in 1977 and The Wall was performed live in 1980 and 1981).

Phish does this every New Year's Eve, but not their albums. They did Sgt Peppers and the Wall one year. Pretty cool.

hey!
i remember Prince saying this about LRC.... something like "one song i'll never play again is LRC..." it was along the vein that the radio has played it so much (over and over and over and over) that HE'S even tired of it. "made me tired of my own song" i believe is what he said.

I've heard a couple of live versions of this song, and they KICK ass!!!! He goes on for about 13 minutes with the best guitar work I've ever heard from him (seriously!). You just get lost in it! Definitely spectacular!!!

Which Prince albums would Eye like 2 hear in FULL?(At the celebration..which Eye will attend 4 the 3rd year in a row!)Would b great 2 hear the entire albums with all the lyrics sung, NO MEDLEYS OR SHORTCUTS!

1. Sign "O" The Times, I skipped school on March 29,1987,to buy it..and even though my senior year was coming to an end, I never came back...it wa worth it...though that GED is still a little embarassing. Prince gave us perhaps his best tour for SOTT, but played EUROPE instead, and I was 17/18 for that year, didn't have a passport, or my job at Wendy's didn't give me the power 2 see that most wonderful tour. I would like to hear this album played in full without It's Gonna Be a Long,Boring Night,IT, Hot Thing...and perhaps he could segue the end of Strange Relationship with "6"...and Dorothy Parker, with of course, "4."

2. Lovesexy, well, I had moved on to McDonald's..and went from 3.35 an hour to 4.15 an hour, but the trip to Atlanta was too much for me back in 1988. I missed out again, so this would be a great album to see in full. Perhaps he could make up with Eric Leeds and Atlanta Bliss, as they would compliment Greg Boyer and either Najee,Candy D,or Maceo quite well. (they also would jam on the Madhouse tunes)

3. Parade...another tour I didn't get to see, as the 5 second USA hit and run tour didn't approach Tallahassee, and again, at 16/17 had no money to go to Europe..Again, the extra horn section would liven up these songs. Would be great to hear him SING "Do U Lie?" after playing the instrumental this year, and also a FULL COMPLETE version of "Sometimes it Snows In April," perhaps his most intense and beautiful slow song. Not to mention that Mountains and Anotherloverholenyohead would be kickin' major Old Power Booty.

4. The Truth...hard 2 believe I would even have 2 explain this one...anyone who likes acoustic guitar would love to hear "Comeback," "One of Your Tears," and "Dionne." Of course it is a pleasant suprise that he's playing "Pillow."

5. Diamonds/Pearls/Symbol, it could be the RETURN of TONY M(that's for McDonald's as he took over my old job.)JUST KIDDING...actually my fifth choice would be for a combination of the best songs we've never heard live from the rest of the albums...and outtakes..this would be the setlist

The Beautiful Ones(some of us heard this in full, but not all of us)
Computer Blue
Possessed
Bambi(all lyrics perhaps rewritten)
The Question of U
Free(all lyrics sung)
She Gave Her Angels
Old Friends 4 Sale-1984 version(like he'd ever do this!)
Dolphin
Moonbeam Levels(it's nice 2 dream)
Annie Christian(the old diehards love this live on bootlegs)
Private Joy
Still Would Stand All Time(all lyrics sung)
Open Book
AnotherlonelyChristmas(could b another lonely anything..great song)
