What about Phoenix?

I previously wrote another message pertaining to the Phoenix performance... I assume there will not be one if L.A. presale is beginning tomorrow morning.

My Question is... Are there other individuals here on the org. that would of attended the Phoenix show? Or are there far and few people who actually appreciate Prince's music here in Az. sad I believe I have only seen a few org. individuals that actually reside here in Phoenix or within Az., or are there more that come here to read but never actually post? I must admit... I have several close friends that profoundly listen to Prince's Music and only occassionally come across other individual's with similar compassion (here in Phoenix). Others, I have been successful in changing their appreciation/views to certain points... after carefully choosing the right material for them to watch or listen to. (I work hard) wink

Anyways, my point is... driving to L.A. or Las Vegas is no big deal... actually it would probably be a lot more exciting (my guess). I have attended the last two concerts in Las Vegas, but I have never attended a concert in L.A. Can anyone give me alittle comparison... (smile), would you rather attend L.A. or Las Vegas if given a choice. Just wondering... I can't believe the presale is tomorrow... so I have overnight to ponder. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

**NOTE- I wrote this days ago... Thank goodness things have been readjusted. smile See all of you this coming FRIDAY! Plus, I look forward to meeting all of you. biggrin

I am in Phoenix and I will be very disappointed if this falls through. I have seen him several times here and he has always been well received. My guess is Prince's camp and the Dodge Theatre may have not been able to agree on certain details as the Theatre just opened. sad

Hopefully it still has a chance of happening as I cannot imagine Prince being so rude as not to make an announcement either way

Finally... a response, thank you (2funkE). Did you attend both concerts several years ago at the America West Arena and Desert Sky Pavillion and if so... do you recall Prince and his disappointment toward the second show on how many people were in attendance? I thought both shows were incredible and even attended the aftershow following "The Jam of the Year" performance at America West, which was held at the Electric Ballroom (the name of the place has currently changed) in Tempe. Perhaps Prince was not satisfied with the actual number of attendance or perhaps it was the response from the crowd??? We actually sat/stood in the second row located to the left of the stage at the Desert Sky Pavillion, and although we were not jumping up and down... we were in complete awe. smile What about you?

I have been a NPG member since it began, and have waited patiently for a moment to be able to gain good seats once again... plus an opportunity to see a soundcheck... that's more than I bargined for. Plus, I was also quite surprised that the Club remained consistant with all the downloads for a whole year. As for Prince by-passing Phoenix... I personally cannot hold it against him (although a bit disappointed).

I may just wait to see him once again in Las Vegas, we enjoy the atmosphere up there and don't mind one bit driving to yet another performance.

Let's remain hopeful.... You never know.... although it doesn't seem likely that he will be coming to Phoenix.

NPGMC emailed me a response to my question about Phoenix - I was specifically looking for closure one way or another. They responded that their was currently no show planned for the 18th. Well, I kind of had that one figured out all on my own - what I think would be nice to know if it is in the works or whether the decision has been made to skip Phoenix.

Hey! I am in AZ! :+) I was born & reared here! Anyway, I went to the shows in 97 & 98 when Prince came to Phoenix! I do remember that the crowd wasn't exactly too happy to see Larry G in 98! That crowd sucked anyway! I think that a HUGE part of the problem with the 2nd show was the fact that they had so many ticket issue's with the prior show & people didn't want to go through all that trouble again! Oh well, any of you AZ people... please send me an orgnote! I'm always trying to find people around here that are into his MUSIC. It would especially be nice to find other MUSICIANS in AZ that are inspired by Prince's MUSIC. I use to be but not so much anymore! (LONG story! haha) TAKE CARE EVERYBODY!!!! :+)

Just received a phone call from a friend who says they
heard on 104.7 that he's supposed to be here NEXT FRIDAY
the 26th (at the Dodge) with tix on sale Monday. If true, guess the presale should start tomorrow?

not that i'm an authority or anything but since the first 15 rows are reserved for NPGMC members they could technically do the sale anytime they want because your seats aren't going anywhere, have fun though i think the shows have been amazing, i'm just waiting for the vegas show to round out my traipsing around the country till the celebration

Just got home... I have heard it all day, although I was a bit leary. I suppose, I still am. Nonetheless, I am... well... I am shocked (but not surprised)... oooohhh, who cares. wink I looked forward to seeing Prince perform once again... no matter the location. I was ready to attend the Las Vegas show, and possibly the Celebration (at least some), I have a few courses that I must take this summer...so only a few days would be possible.

Wow! I am still speechless... we will see how it all turns out. biggrin Best wishes, take care... perhaps I will see you Phoenix NPG Music supporters after all... smile

I'm just glad to hear that there are some other fans of the man in PHX! Has anyone heard any info about the afterparty yet?

Please send me an e-mail if you hear before I get my tickets.

I would love to go to a show in Phx, Tucson would be better.
However, the member ticket prices are just a little too high.
So you will most likely see me in the $50 seats, but I will still hear him and the Dodge looks intimate as well
But, there are Prince supporters down in Tucson and from what I know in Phx too.

C'mon Julie, You are not second guessing going are you? Small venue, obscure songs, sound check and an opportunity to chill with Prince right in your own backyard?

Hi phxnpg7, read your post. I was wondering if the people who attended the L.A performance were going to still attend the Phoenix performance. Looks like you are a "True" appreciator of Prince and his music biggrin... good to know. I have been watching for Phoenix NPG members... it seems like you may be right about the show being more intimate due to the possible low numbers of NPG members. But then again... who truly knows, there may be more that never spend their "precious time" coming here to Prince.org wink Nonetheless, what do you think about the possibility of a soundcheck happening? And what time do you plan on going?

It will be nice to meet you netter... I am there as well. As mentioned... the weather has been nice lately, but it is expected to get hotter, they say in the mid to high 90's. Dress comfortable, yet cool. At least it is not 115 degrees, yet. wink See you Friday!

You're sweet Freespirit. smile

Actually, it was only a temporary stay when we moved back from living overseas. We actually ended up buying a home in Santa Fe, NM. It certainly wasn't the nicest time of year to be living in PHX (June, July) lol. But, we got to see some friends while we were there so that made awright. Now, I'm living in Minneapolis. biggrin
