Kodak Theater-night 2 The second night performance at the Kodak of course was all that and a bag of Fun-yuns ( why did chips get all the glory?). He played the usual set lists for the soundcheck and the show and it was of course off the hanger (why
does "hook" and "chain" get all the glory?). Besides the music which is always great when you see Prince ( you know, you do get used to seeing greatness..)you gotta look for the off kilter little interesting parts which for me is his one off asides.. ..in the soundcheck he said L.A. repped cause damn near the whole bottom first section was filled with NPGMC members and he brought out the Alfred personality by saying with exagerrated lisping ( looks likeeth itsss jussst gonne be usssss tonight) since we were enough to have a show our damn selves. ...during one rave up in the main show where he broke it down "on the one" he did it by saying "just me..just me" in a funny voice and he proceeded to do chicken scratch guitar with the "telecaster" that I affectionately call his Controversy geetar...the one he used to lick and clean with his tongue back in the day when he was a corruptor. "Just me..just me" again in that Camille- like whiny voice he has sometimes. Then he chicken scratched for a bit more...shit. Just the chicken scratch alone is worth it. Also anothersticky wicked part was when he was singing a salacious part of a song he stopped, made GW turn on the house lights and berated the audience and played around saying that this was a respectable place and we were amongst respectable people..then he goes.."respectable..yeah right" with the sly look of his eyes that he does and commences to fuck the hell out of his guitar with his hands by rockin out, tearin it up...I was rollin. Respectable..yeah right hee hee. He kept telling GW to turn the house lights up too..all through the damn concert..as if we wanna see each others ugly mugs squinting their eyes cuase the lights came back on. Prince dont u know people get down more when they are not caught up like deer in headlights? I had to take out my ear plugs everytime so people wouldnt wonder what those damn flourescent things were in my ear and think I was a puzzy ( hey the venue gave em to me). .Strange Relationship-ship-ship is badazzz live. A real pick me up ya know? He finally got rid of the excessive drag...he finally listened and realized that we want just him on the piano for a bit which he delivered with aplomb, he finally listened and let loose and dropped all the enigma shit and knows that he can freak a slow song. He let this one big guy--and I mean big..get up onstage and dance --poor ol fella looked like he was literally gonna have a heart attack no lie..but when he Prince brought a chica up to dance with the big guy, he got inspired all over again..think of a Chick Huntsberry type doing the cabbage patch in all the wrong places trying to duck the girl doggy-style....he-fucking-larious! Props to you! Prince also gave a front row NPGMC member a chance to mimic his high voice wail on a moments notice and homeskillet npgmc member did it the moment P put the mic in his face ..gotta say he kilt it lol. Nothin but net. .. He was so happy too high fivin with a vengeance...Im jealous. Prince realizes that the members etc this time around didnt come to play.He knows these are the ones who can hit the high notes, that know the geetar licks, that know his calls to break it down or "on the one" and can break it down as an audience along with him ( like th e spiky haired blond guy left of front row center--he was breaking it down all night to the music) Such things to consider when Prince takes you to church and ducks you. The vibe of this concert is cool of course cause its members appreciation tour...people who gave me the pizza in line thank you--I was embarrassed but didnt want to seem ungreatful and tried to find u to buy you a drink, RB-baba-b it was cool meeting you and getting semi-fucked up in the velvet bar , Joe and co. wherever u are gracias for the convo and info etc. To Sunset Strip and The House Of Blues a big bronx cheer to you for a Saturday Night cant park any-friggin- where to see the aftershow fiasco. I was actually intimidated. Like Prince now--he doesnt jump around anymore he just gets the job done..I am too old for this shit. "Climb in my fur."

The friend of hers behind her was singing the songs with his balled up fist as a microphone and dancin all over...lemme say this...that man air mic-ed Princes' concert like he was on Star Search. Hector Guzman. Marilyn Manson was there and he acted like I was on drugs when I said hi..he knows it was him without makeup. The other night Jamie Fox, some Wayans and others were there too..but who really cares about the so called star factor? I was there to see Prince and only Prince. Anything else is just gravy. That was me(Friday night)...lol..had Hector Guzman(that's his name, huh?) not come so late and had to walk right in front of me I wouldn't have noticed his ass at all(both figuratively AND literally)...Saturday night's show was just as good(possibly even better, 'cept I arrived late..)...

I saw Ving Rhames there. Dude looked pretty buff. Probably bulked up for that boxing movie with Wesley Snipes.
Had to get up early this morning to attend a fundraiser. Here's the typical clueless LA response: "Hey, I went to the Prince show last night. It was slammin'" "Prince? He played here?" -----

Most people who tour are rusty the firt shows etc, working out the kinks..by the time they hit the middle to end of the tour they are a well oiled machine..by the time most acts get to the west coast or L.A. they got their shit down. Plus..you think he's going to come to L.A. and not try to blow it away? I'm not saying other towns are not worthy of putting your all into it but there has always been that "gotta pull out all the stops" for L.A. shows since it ( Hollyweird) is the entertainment capital of the world. And even with all that said, I heard when he played the Holllywood Bowl back on the JOTY tour, he had Tom Arnold try and sing 1999..so how da ya like dem apples? Tom Arnold lol. How ethical is it for him to go all out in "entertainment capitals" like LA and NY while he sleepwalks and goes through the motions in other cities? He sucks big time for "practicing" and working out the kinks on audiences who saw this show early in the tour. He should have had his shit together as soon as the trucks rolled off from Paisley. If he didn't have it together, what in the hell was he charging $125 for? He gets ZERO stars. Prince

Because L.A. is known to be a jaded town what with all the stars roaming around with mustard on their lips and crumbs on their jacket. And who said he didnt go thru the motions in L.A.? Hell..he used the same jokes that he used on other cities except this time he had better timing since he had lots and lots of practice lol. Now how should L.A. feel that they're getting a canned show so to speak..one that has been practiced and practiced..no mistakes or spontaneity? And other smaller towns have gotten more interplay with him at the soundchecks. I mean come on..of course theres going to be some criticism on his part for god knows what this time and there will be more criticism for him next year and the next. But lemme say this: I do think its a member appreciation tour of sorts since he let muthafuckas in his soundcheck, get a chance for early ticket sales, admission for some aftershows etc. When has he doen this before? Of course everything in the GRAND scheme of things is not perfect.....but then again who or what is? "Climb in my fur."

You might not know this, but not everybody is getting soundchecks and aftershows, even though all members paid about the same for tickets and memberships. Complaints about this to NPGMC result in the usual email saying "High, soundchecks and aftershows are not guaranteed." Hey, I know it's not guaranteed. But where the fuck does he get off charging everybody the same money and then giving some people half as much as others when we all paid the same? Prince
