"Place in line" numbers handed out for Portland

Just got back from the Schnitzer Concert Hall and got my ticket for a place in line. NPGMC members were given a numbered ticket so that we don't have to sit on the sidewalk all day waiting for the doors to open. I got mine at a little after noon and I am #11. Apparently they started handing them out at around 10am. We were told to meet back at the theater at 4:30pm and they would let us in by numerical order. My ass is very appreciative!

I forwarded the idea to Prince's people and they gave it the green light smile Portland = Logic.

Nice job. Of course, now that the word is out, people will be waiting in line to get the ticket for their place in line. Either way, I'm happy to not be sitting on the sidewalk.

YEEHAA!! I also wrote Prince's people about the general admission problems (i.e) the lines outside. I am sure a bunch of us got the idea across.

Numbers! Great idea! I wish they would do that at the Celebration before each night's show! We could get a ticket and go enjoy the sites for a while!

After the DC soundcheck lines, I want no more of that!

The Portland venue should be commended for caring enough about people to do this.

They could have done what NPGMC and all the other theaters are doing and just leave people sitting for 7-8 hours outside on a sidewalk.

Of course everyone has the option of not waiting, but if you don't, you run the risk of not getting in the reserved seating area.

i showed up 10 minutes before show time, walked right in and got a great seat in row F. waiting in line all day is not for me. And i got a seat no problem. it's your choice to wait all day, don't dis the club.

If you had showed up 10 minutes before show time in NY or LA you wouldn't have gotten a seat.

The numbers being handed out is a good idea BUT waiting with all the other purple people is a big part of the Prince expieriance. I'm still slowly writing about my 2 days in LA and eventually will post it. Yes, it would be nice not sitting there in line all day but U really meet some of the nicest people while in line. I would not have given up all those hours with my new friends for anything...Just my 2 cents sprinkled with aloha smile

UHH, isn't that what's happening now anyway??? At least this way, people can run home & change instead of taking shifts - it's a great idea... biggrin

actually I even asked the club people about the seats and they said several times that they never sell more tickets than seats, never. so if someone had trouble finding a seat, it's because some stingy fan put a coat over the seat next to them, said they were saving it for their friend Betty who never showed up (or never really existed). People need to realize that they should cooperate with the theater to make this work. holding 5 seats for your buddies who are out at the bar missing the show isn't helping anybody. there are enuff seats to go around.

at the next show, help out your fellow members who are coming late. tell the usher, "these seats next to me are free if someone with a wristband is asking around." and don't save 17 seats for your crew.

High,
My son asked to see Prince, be careful what you ask for smile
Casey and I just had the best time in Portland. He couldn't believe I had him haul those camp chairs on the plane and then we didn't need them! We enjoyed Portland and the beautiful theater district. We ate at the Govenor's Jake's grill and shopped a little at Nike town. But mostly, anytime you get to hangout with your teenager is precious.Nice of Prince to sit down in front of Casey and play the guitar. He asked, Can I come down there with you? Remember that?
Got him outta "deer caught in the headlights mode" LOL Now he is in love with the bass and Rhonda. She smiled at him alot.Oh! to be 14!

Met such great people even for the short time in line and during the break.Hello Dorothy,9showsKim,Newlyweds!"BoyGeorge"(with the red hat on)Eleventeen ,David(has a Dead Head in the family) and the Cottage Grove fams and many more.

I thought the Purple Rain,The Fillmore,Ruby Skye,Oakland Arena and the Paramount in Oakland topped the list of favorite shows...Tuesday night in Portland had it all.

see u in June,

yes the line numbers were way cool. It was so nice to be free to go get food or find a restroom.
The people that pushed ahead after the line started moving werent cool though. Being #6 in the line up line shouldnt have landed me in the second row. Maybe I should be a little ruder or something wink

I am not sure, but I think what happened from my perspective is that the ladies had alot more patting down and purse checking. This kept the ladies line slooooow. The guys went on in more quickly.I was right behind you and watched the guys move thru while they checked your stuff. My son went on in without me.

What happened was that the women in the blue sparkle dress and her friend (who weren't even club members) swindled their way in front of some of the club members and busted in in the rush of things at the entrance door. They were sooo rude and annoying during the show. Prince is very observant! He called one of them "Outlaw" and the other one a "crack-head" !

At the sound check, Takumi, (Prince’s multi-tasking personal technician/assistant, the quiet Japanese guy who hands Prince his different guitars)had a talk with the people in the front row about being respectful, not touching Princes guitars, stealing his picks, or anything else of Prince’s. Takumi said we would be rewarded at the end of the show if we were respectful. I did my best during the show and the after show to try to keep people from messing with Prince’s stuff.
The Blue sparkle woman brought a little girl up to the front row and had her strum Prince’s guitars sad , she tried to steal Prince’s picks, dancing and bumping into Prince’s guitars sad Takumi was very upset. I did the best I could to keep her and a few other people in line. At the end of the show Takumi came up to me and thanked me for my help and gave me a handful of picks (that were used by Prince in the show) and asked me to be in charge of distributing them. I gave them out to the people that had been the most respectful and true. Good things come to good people.
Later, Takumi came up to me again and said “as a token of our appreciation, we want to give you this” It was a shaker (percussion) I was like ……. smile!

Yeah, I also recall that, he told that one who was 2 sing something (she screamed) in2 the mic "crack kills". That was hella funny~ The woman were pretty off the hook where I was at...alot of fighting words between some woman it was pretty bad at times. When a woman comes from 3 rows from the front 2 tell a woman SHUT THE F*** UP!! It was messing with my experience a bit~ Seems thus far from the Jam Of The Year Tour, 2 this one...its been the woman that get heated with other woman over &*%#$#! But the Power of P, everyone at the end was singing in harmony~

eleventeen, looks like you and i had the same experience wit takumi. mine was in dallas. funny how b.s. can sometimes transfer from one city to another. i think that when RESPECTFUL folk such as yourself show some sense of community in the front rows, it is VERY appreciated. i too was given a handful of picks and asked to distribute them to others. later, someone said to me, "you mean you only kept one"? some people just don't get it...
just like the "number in line thing". that was started by a fam in kansas city, brought to houston, and taken to new orleans and dallas through word-of-mouth. i'm glad to see the trend coninued out west. and even though a FEW acted a fool and TRIED to cut, 99% of the peeps there worked together. one of the folks wit the npgmc (we'll call her L.), noticed how efficient it was and how all the fams in line worked together to keep things fair. i guess it made an impression...
anyhow, i'm glad to see things shaping up nicly for the fams. i do believe that if we all follow examples set by a few extra-reponsible fams or, dare i say LEADERS, then future prince experiences will keep getting better and better for all. remember, there's always gonna be a few p's in the a., but from what i'v seen and read throughout the duration of this tour, there is always hope for solutions to problems that arise (even for the folks in nyc).
to anyone who had a bad experience this time around, all i can say is i'm sorry for you. however, i do hope you take to heart that people are noticing now, and making adjustments. i know that there has been concern in the past, but i do believe things are finally evolving the way that we, the fams, have always wanted. a lot of thanks should be given to the few who have stood up and shown that, while prince himself says it is better to follow, from time to time, when the situation warrants, it IS good to be a leader among followers ...
peace y'all, and keep it on the 1, peter v

Yeah I'm ok. I did faint. A couple times actually before I got out of there. I did really well actually considering how hot and crowded it was. I usually faint long before that. Made it another 20min after I started seeing spots LOL. I dont know why I overheat like that, just stop sweating and get too hot. I envy those of you who can stay in there and still dance too.
Anyway, I made it to the outside of the crowd ok (didnt fall clear down again anyway) and cooled down alright. The corwdedness is nasty, and the no acess to water or ice makes it worse. Plus the guy behind me feeling my ass that I had to threaten with harm wink

finally they wised up!

we had a list n LA, but we still had 2 w8 out on the sidewalk. some slept there cuz they'd went 2 the friday nite show the day b4. i got there @ 10am & w8ed 7 hours n line. they lined us up again n the theatre area @ 3:30pm. even thought the weather was beautiful, the sun gets 2 u after standing out for 6 hrs.
somebody was trying 2 cut me @ the last minute & i was ready 2 kick their a** till an official came & smoothed it out. the soundcheck was 30 minutes late opening. & all that w8ing n line already wears on ur nerves. then 2 have some punk f**ks try 2 cut & start shit can really f**k up the vibe. then r afterparty was on ice as well. next time he tours i hope he gets some peops that know how run their sh*t.

they should have been doing that number sh*t n the 1st f**king place & none of that bullsh*t n dallas would not have happened w/ the 1 broad n line that thought she was the only 1 w/ the presale ticket. & we had all kinds of sh*t n LA w/ people who had not been n line all day & no1 recognized them when they came back later 2 take their place. but the earlier dates i heard were more of a f**king fiasco.
If I Could B Muse 2 the Pharaoh...
