Finally, someone tells the "truth" about the Chicago show!! I was at both Chicago shows. On Saturday night there was a soundcheck. There was hardly any music played at all. No fams jammed with Prince. He wasn't relaxed or joking around with anyone. His security guards stayed close to him the whole time. Mostly people spent the whole time complaining about Ticketmaster and then Prince got Billy Sparks to handle the questions and answers about tickets. There were Chicago fams who informed Prince that they had not been able to get tickets for the Sunday show because of the shenanigans of Ticketmaster, so they asked if they could attend the soundcheck Sunday. Prince said yes. But when Sunday came, security guards came out and told everyone waiting that there was no soundcheck. In my opinion, Chicago got the short end of the stick because it had the misfortune of being just the second show of the tour and problems were still being ironed out. From reading the reports, it's obvious that the soundchecks as well as the shows and setlists got much better as the tour went on.

I don't believe that it was just "luck" that New York got everything Prince has to offer. In my opinion, I believe that he gave 8 hours of music in NY because he had numerous celebrities in the house and he wanted to impress them.
Those of you in New York should really be thanking Alicia Keys for showing up. She's probably the main reason why Prince played until 4 a.m.

It wouldn't be a Prince tour unless somebody gets jobbed. It was Chicago's turn to bend over this time.
Anybody with a ticket stub from Chicago should email NPG asking them what you paid $100 for if there wasn't going to be good seats or a soundcheck or an aftershow. Y'all paid $100 membership for seats in the balcony, no soundcheck, and no aftershow. The seating shit was on Ticketmaster, but the call to not have soundcheck or an aftershow is up to Prince. Email and ask why he jobbed Chicago.

"after blaming tourette's syndrome "No four letter words will be heard on this stage tonight" for all his cussing during the old days, that ended the soundcheck"
- Sorry, what is a tourette syndrome??

"There's a garbage can on nearly every corner and you probably would have found one inside the theater. Would it have been so difficult to carry your trash to one? NYC is dirty enough without your slothfulness. "
- Unfortunately it happens a lot here in Rio de Janeiro too. If people were less selfish and loved more the city they live in, it would be a lot better

- Sorry, what is a tourette syndrome?? Compare an episode of South Park & an episode of The Peanuts. The South Park kids would be the ones with tourette's.

Those of you in New York should really be thanking Alicia Keys for showing up. She's probably the main reason why Prince played until 4 a.m. That's really BS. No it wasn't luck, but it had little to do with Alicia Keys showing up. Her performance while a plus didn't really add anything to the aftershow. Musiq & ?uestLove's set were more impressive, than Alicia not knowing "7779311" or the keys to the Ballad of Dorothy Parker. There were no celebrities at the soundcheck when he played "Power Fantastic"; there were probably few celebs at the concert (?uestLove who had a seat at the concert in row 17, had to have gotten there well into the show since he was performing with Musiq & Alicia Keys at the LifeBeat Urban Aids show the same time up at the Beacon). As far as the aftershow, it was a phenomenal performance, very much in the tradition of what Prince has done at past aftershows. NY got an aftershow because: 1. There are a lot of venues available for him to perform in (as opposed to smaller towns where clubs don't abound) 2. There's a larger fanbase that came out for the NY show (17 full rows reportedly were sold in the presale, which would come out to about 760 seats total) 3. The fact that celebrities were available to do walk ons were a great plus, but the best performance was delivered by Prince himself--his soaring guitar solo during the Joy in Repetition and the Everlasting Now for example, which he's performed elsewhere. What we witnessed sounds very much like what has been reported at some of the better Paisley Park parties where 20-30 people are in attendance, so I doubt it's about impressing celebrities. "That...magic, the start of something revolutionary-the Minneapolis Sound, we should cherish it and not punish prince for not being able to replicate it."-Dreamshaman32
