Power Fantastic was the next track (Prince sang & didn't play anything during this song) and this was kind of a surprise for everyone. Hey !!! Thanks for the review ! How did Power Fantastic sound ? I hope he adds this to the set list soon and we get a great bootleg of it

Thanks. i was watching that closely, and i was looking to see if there was any tension..didnt appear to be any..i noticed prince turned around and even smiled when he saw ?uest on the drums..to be honest, i think the tension is a bit overplayed..i think ?uest idolizes prince...i could see from my seat in the concert that he was giddy as hell to be watching prince perform perhaps they'll make music together finally, it would be a treat for us all

Irish, it's how you SELECT and REFLECT upon the facts that is crucial. It is impossible to merely report the facts because facts are not 'out there'. Everything is how we perceive and interpret it.
Therefore, I'd draw attention to the fact that you seemed to focus so much on complaining about things ancillary to the concert such as people's littering habits. I suppose that flavoured the character of your report as something a bit whingey. I'm not looking for a bewildered "fam" report and to your credit, you did post a straightforward and detailed account of the night and you have my thanks for that.

Mean people suck. I hated the complaining at the beginning of the report. And why do people feel the need to point out the skin color of a line cutter? Do we want to associate line cutting with skin color? In fact, why even mention gender. I saw garbage, too, but it was neatly piled. I threw my soda can in a dumpster near the construction going on outside the Hall.
I thought the show was amazing. Prince seemed really happy. I liked his new personality. I hope he comes back close to NYC soon. Maybe I'll have to travel to see him at another site. While I was trying to avoid the long line, I got directed to the stage door, which was not the place to pick up NPG club tickets. But I did see Chris Rock's name on the guest list plus 4 guests. He was probably watching from back stage. It took so long to get my tickets -- I did not get there until 5:45 (as I work until 5) -- that I only saw the Extraordinary and Joy in Rep soundcheck. I was surprised Candy never came out, but maybe Prince thought she wasn't ready yet. He made fun of some people who passed him by during the soundcheck and said that ain't Prince. This was one of his best shows. Deep cuts, songs that only true fans know and love, and lots of spontaneity. He passed out tambourines to the front row. Threw his hat to the audience. Joked about bootleg t-shirts. Asked if it's better to give or receive. When someone in the front row said to give, he responded why don't you give your seat to the brother in the back. A smart person pointed out she already gave Prince $150. He asked if it's better to be a leader or follower. He brought a follower on stage for his guitar solo. Regarding family names, I'd just like Prince and others to know that Africans weren't the only ones to have their name changed when they came to America. When my dad was the first in his family to attend a school in America, his teacher changed his name from Kryniewiecki to Ryneski. I don't got my family name, but at least I know it. He didn't change too many peoples' names Tuesday night. Thanks for a great concert experience. Boy was it funky and soulful. NeoSoul.com

IrishEcho, I noticed the good use of paragraphing in your report. Well done. Punctuation is also nicely used. A couple of possible run-on sentences but we'll let that slide. I, for one, thank you for the report. If others are unhappy with it then why don't they write their own?
I would guess that the use of gender and race to describe the people that cut in line was appropriate only because we were all there and it might help us to remember the people and say "Hey! I saw those losers!". The Candy thing was similar to the Buffalo show where Larry played at the soundcheck but never came out during the show but showed up at the afterparty. The rest of the set list was Raspberry Beret and the Santana jam. Prince brought a girl up to dance during the jam and she was something else. very energetic and she could move. I think we were all just waiting for her top to fall off. I'm amazed that it didn't. Prince even gave a few funny looks to the girl that seemed to say to the audience "will you get a load of this". It was great. His piano medley included the following in no particular order (I'm sure I'll leave something out): Adore Do Me Baby Diamonds and Pearls Sometimes It Snows In April The Beautiful Ones Purple Rain (band joined in) How Come You Don't Call... Starfish and Coffee Free And it ended with AnnaStesia. I know I forgot a bunch of songs in there but I just got home to Albany a few minutes ago and I've been up for 28 hours now. I have to echo what BobGeorge67 said earlier about having a great time in line. I'm glad I met some people like him and ItalianCutie and Div02. Great people! Hedwig needs to be told that if Prince had wanted a tambourine playing during every song he would have hired someone to did it for him. He wasn't the only one doing it either. During the soundcheck and the first half of the show that tambourine was louder than the actual music. He is a talented tambourinist though. I will give him that. The aftershow was a lot of fun. I got there and saw the line and ended up going around the corner to a little pub I know, had a few pints, some fish and chips, talked to the bartender for awhile and came back to the club around 1:30am and walked right in. Prince didn't come on until 2am and played until 4. I'll let others discuss the details. This does NOT mean that I didn't enjoy the afterparty in anyway. Time to go nite-nite.

Butters said: I've seen lots of rumors on this site (I mean the old Prince site) that Prince has tourettes syndrome, but this is the first I've read that he acknowledged this himself.
Anyways, the shows sound great, and I can't wait for him to hit Concord, CA!!!!! GOOD REPORT irish echo. i hate going to places where people have to walk in garbage, (but NYC is pretty well known for this unless your in the best of manhattan...) but people standing in line representing prince fans should know better. people skipping ahead ia a real peeve of mine, but thats another story... ----- As far as prince and the tourettes syndrome>>>>>i may be wrong...but i think with tourettes you have a difficult if not impossible time NOT cussing. so if he said there will be no 4 letter words on stage tonight, blaming tourettes syndrome, he may have been sarcastically saying he DOESNT have it because he CAN keep from swearing. i'm sure he KNOWS people have said he has it, on the org, as he is said to read here freqently...i,myself, never heard he had this till i read it here. plus, u cant believe EVERYTHING u read. i think he already proved people wrong about his foot? for one by wearing sandals. plus he doesnt walk funny to me. if he's bow legged, thats no big deal OR a deformity. that's just my opinion the way irish echo said it was said. someone else may have heard something else and he may have been saying he has it. if he does have it, and he brought it out in the open, GREAT! it's NO shame! then i give him kudo's for his honesty. something he hasnt been with the public till now. he feels close to us. how nice!!! May the BELLS ring 4 U even when ur not in love.

Get a grip dork. I suppose you approve of throwing your garbage onto the street? I didn't realize it was such a burden to carry it all the way to a trashcan. I pointed out the skin color & gender of the woman because I wanted to identify her. What's your point? She was a large black woman with a bracelet fashioned out of Thieves in the Temple pin. Maybe some other people who noticed her cutting would recognize that in the report. Maybe the people who cut would, which was the point of describing them in the first place I thought the show was amazing. Prince seemed really happy. I liked his new personality. I appreciate your review, IrishEcho. Everyone has their own memories of the show and just because you didn't mention how you personally felt about every detail, doesn't mean you didn't have a good time. And yes, before anyone says I'm bitter because I wasn't in VIP, I WAS. It's feast or famine with Prince. He gives his best in some places, or he gives shit in other places.
