Prince Doesn't Play Here....

Well, he hardly ever plays here. The last time he did a concert here in Toronto (mini concert at that) was in June of 1997. Does anyone know why that is?

I've read that he recently purchased a home here and is actually dating (or got married to) a local girl but he still hasn't scheduled a Toronto concert.

The few times that he has had a concert here, getting tickets has been a bitch. I've tried phone, scalpers, lining up and the like but I ofen get stuck with unworthy seats.

Questions, comments would be most welcomed.

Er ... perhaps he has fixed up a Toronto date ... but the pigeon hasn't arrived with the news yet. BTW put some money on The Beatles splitting anytime soon.
ALT+PLS+RTN: Pure as a pane of ice. It's a gift.

Spats

He has been to Toronto to perform a number of times. The First was in December 1984 during the Purple rain tour. he did 2 sold out shows at Maple leaf Gardens. I went to the first one. My first ever concert. He then returned In October 1988 on the "Lovesexy Tour". Once again at MLG's. I saw that one as well. He then returned In March 1993 on the Symbol Tour. A Killer Sold out show. Once again at Maple Leaf Gardens. And then in 1997. He was supposed to perform here last year but he cancelled the rest of his tour. he said at a soundcheck recently that he loves spending time in Toronto and will hopefully do a show here in the summer. Cross your fingers.

Thanks for the reminder Spats. I have been to some ofthose shows as well but they were such a long time ago; once upon a time when I was much, much younger. I couldn't get tickets to all the shows then because it is so damn difficult to do so whenever he is here. That's the downside to this.
I was very disappointed when he cancelled his show last year. It was like a kick in the ass when you are already down... know what I mean?

Langeblue, where you there too? My crew and I started singing "Happy Birthday"... yeah that was us.

It was a great concert. Standing room only at the Guvernment for about 2,000 people or so. It was a bitch to get tickets. I was on my cell phone, local phone and online trying to get tickets. I almost didn't make it. There's got to be a better way to get tickets. Got any ideas?

Ronnie, I know what ya mean. I wasn't able to get tickets to the 1997 show. I was really pissed. It was the first time i missed seeing him when he was here. I haven't seen him live since 1993.

See what I mean Spats. So exactly what and how do you get tickets for shows here. Scalpers seemed to be the best bet but you got to be willing to pay the piper, and then some.

I sometimes think too that the crowd here sucks at concerts and maybe he just hates playing here. I clearly remember the LoveSexy tour at Maple Leaf Gardens where I miraculously managed to get 3rd row (floors). Some of these big shots seated at the front weren't even grooving. Others kept looking at their watches not even feeling him. Ain't that a bitch! Plus, that concert wasn't even sold out... it came very close though.

I want to make sure that the next time around, whenever that is, I'm front and center. Any tips?
