Prince's last tours talking about the One Nite Alone and the Musicology tour I have a few questions for you guys (I've never seen the man live and I'm not very expert on his live history).
- which one was better, One Nite Alone or the Musicology tour ? for better I mean, tighter, louder, less quiet and of course generally speakinf of setlists and performances. elaborate - how did those tours rate compared to Prince's tours from time to time in his history ? is he oin top form or not or what ? - is it true that he's gonna come back in Europe in october november or january february for a european leg to the Musicology tour? thankyou.

Hi Answers to your questions: - I guess most people like ona more because of the 'non hits' like shows plus the more intimate gigs in theatres. - U cant compare any tour because each tour is different and very nice. But from the shows i saw lately he was in topform - Nonone knows when he is coming but i guess in february-march 2005 as bandmembers are doing their thing (maceo and candy are touring in november-december Cheers Rafael

For me the ONA London shows were the best I've seen him since "The Gold Experience" ones at Wembley Arena. - is it true that he's gonna come back in Europe in october november or january february for a european leg to the Musicology tour? Well it's October now, so I doubt he'll be playing Europe in November (unless he decides to play hit and run club shows, which would be something ). If he comes this way expect a tour to start in late January/early February. thankyou. You're welcome. And too polite. [Edited 10/7/04 11:58am] There are three sides to every story. Musicology was better than one night alone. I can't explain it other than it was more cohesive.
One Night Alone left me feeling a little short changed. Prince is always an amazing musician live. I think The Purple Rain Tour and Lovesexy Tour were my favorites. I love Princes dark and dirty stuff, so it's kinda hard getting totally enveloped in his new format. It's very adult contempory. Don't get me wrong. I love him live and he definately redeemed himself with his last tour, but it's not the 80's anymore. The Revolution gave him that creative edge that I personally loved.

I've thought about this a bit and come to the conclusion that while Musicology was great, I liked ONA better for these reasons:
1. smaller venues 2. played the non-hit material off his albums 3. the smaller band was more than enough and the larger band was sometimes a distraction from Prince 4. more spontaneity 5. intimate jazzy vibe rather than arena rock vibe The deciding question for any fan is: do you want to hear the most recognizable songs (albeit in new formats) or do are you comfortable with less predictability (at the risk of a "failed experiment")? Prince did the right thing in 2004 by putting himself back in the public mind - remember back in 2002-2003, quite a few die hard fans wanted him to have a "big" popular year just like this one. All in all, I hope the next tour resembles ONA and is not Musicology pt. II *****************************************
