I was at the Buffalo soundcheck and that bastard Prince had the nerve to ask one of his assistants for a cup of tea! I hate tea and I was so offended. Then, he turned his back on all of us as he walked to the back of the stage where his tea was sitting so he could take a sip. We pay all this $$$ so I think that he should face us at all times. A catholic would never do something like that.
Tongue planted firmly in cheek. It's amazing how you can take a little bit of truth and distort it into something else. The Buffalo soundcheck was one of the coolest experiences I've ever had. It's a shame that Divinity reacted the way she did. I had already heard rumors about how Prince was sometimes but all I saw was a guy doing what he loves to do and loving to see the fams enjoying it too.

Thanks for the great soundcheck review. This stuff sounds like sooooo much fun, and we are so lucky that we are fans of this artist who is really very generous to his fans in many ways. I hope when he gets up to the northwest I can find some kind NPGMC member who is in need of a guest, because it sounds like quite the experience.
I hope everybody who goes to these things will write up a description of the experience so the rest of us can live through you! Doves, theartistcurrentlyknownasMel!ssa

Yes. And at the end of the show, I saw his guitar tech go up on stage and grab what looked like the same poster and give it to someone in the audience. My guess is that he signed it to give back to the kids. What a bastard. No Candy 4 Me

Nice report Brian, I've always heard Prince being polite and found this difficult to believe. I am so glad to hear that he is looking forward to coming over to Europe 'cos believe me we are all waiting for this to happen soon. Being able to read reports like this keeps us informed as to what goodies to expect.

I let my son listen to The Rainbow children...he is 6. He really like the title track. Its funny, he tells some of his freinds that he likes Prince but most of them do not even know what he is talking about. My sons second favorite is "U Make My Sun Shine". its so cute when he sings along.

I think everyone was just as surprised and happy as you were, Bill! If I'm not mistaken the Oakland sound check was the very *first* he allowed the fams into, so not knowing what to expect, made the positivity of the whole experience stand out even more!
I hope everyone has many more great experiences to share!

That was my daughter who asked Prince the question about the children's album and who was pulled on stage. She really enjoyed the show. I took her younger sister to the Saturday concert. It is very important for our kids to hear what real music sounds like because many of them have absolutely no clue. My mother took me to a Prince concert when I was 9 and I never forgot it. He was much different back then and I actually think my daughters took a lot from the concert.

Thanks Brian for telling the real story. Saturday's sound check was much better. Not that we should expect anything. His hair is not scraggly anymore! It looks like the Emancipation doo with out the light highlights. And another thing, he wore the same outfit every night in D.C. I guess it is just about the music now. The outfit I'm referring to is, black pants long white shirt and gray vest. He wore two outfits each night one for the main show and one for the encore. Sunday he wore the boots from the video “Rock'n'Rolls alive...” I thought that was interesting. Thank you so much.

So, someone who charges 125 dollars for a concert ticket is a nice guy eh? Not my idea of nice. Then he boycotts Cincinnati, screwing his ohio fans. Again, not nice. There is a long history of Prince being a bastard--believe me, his true self will come back out. All you others say Hell Yea!!

I attended the buffalo soundcheck, after being a fam for 23 years it was incredible to be able to have such an intimate exchange with prince. He asked us question, he was very nice and very polite. The group seemed like they were having a great time especially prince and larry kidding around. At one point larry was playing bass so hard that prince told him "larry don't sweat that suit out". He invited a group of us on stage to sing the chorus to last december and joked if we know the words and joked about us not clapping on time. we all laughed. Prince also set up 3 rows of seats in the orchestra pit of the arena and he allowed the people who attened the soundcheck to sit in those seats for the concert instead of the seats you purchased. These seats were in front of the first row, that shows you what kind of person he is generous beyond belief. I was also one of the 2 ladies he called on stage to dance during the concert, an experience that i will never forget. I would say if you can get to a soundcheck, go prince definitely makes it worth your while and you will get to meet the real him and see how nice he really is.I have nothing but respect for prince and larry g and would hang out with them anytime.

BanishedBrian said: First of all, don't believe the hype by the attention grabbers on this site.
Prince is a nice guy. I spent my entire college life going to Paisley, and attended many parties there where Prince would hang out and chill. I have never seen him be impolite to anyone, although he is generally very shy in public and this can make him come accross that way at times. Think about it... he opens up his studio for free on weekends so strangers can just drop on by! He makes sure there is popcorn and soda for us? What more can you ask for from a major music superstar? Can someone else name ANY musician who is so accessible and plays free shows for his fans? Can anyone else think of someone who hosts a week-long Celebration at his studio? Now he is letting us hang out during the soundcheck. I can only comment on the one yesterday, because that is the only one I attended. Despite Divinity's self-serving statements about what happened, Prince was pretty damned polite to her. After she finally shut up, a lot of us asked questions and he was really cool. The first thing he did was apologize to us for the long wait outside. He asked us how long we were waiting and someone yelled "too long!" He said he was sorry for being late but that he had been at the Kingdom worshiping. One lady offered him a poster that her students had signed for him and he was really gracious to her. He let her talk about it for minutes while he stood there politely and listened. Someone yelled out at Larry to tell us about the girl on the airplane. Larry looked puzzled for a moment, then once he figured out what the guy was talking about, he told us the story. People then thanked Prince for playing Joy in Repetition and Sometimes It Snows In April the night before, and he was really humble and told us he appreciated our compliments. Contrary to popular belief, he was not "controlling" and "possessive" about the whole thing. He was really laid back. People started yelling for him to play in Baltimore so we could see him again, and he laughed. He then got serious and mentioned that he really wants to go to Europe because he hasn't played there in so long. Someone asked about whether he might do a children's album, to which he politely said "that's a good idea." He also mentioned that it was OK for kids to listen to TRC. Someone asked him to play Power Fantastic, and he said (rather genuinely), "Hey, we really should play that one." Someone also asked if he would release a live album and he said he was working on it. He then alluded to the bootleg of the Chicago show and mentioned how that had already come out. He answered all these questions even though his bodyguard had been motioning for minutes for him to get off the stage, as it was 7:10 and the Warner had asked him to end the soundcheck by 7:00. Larry G was also really cool. Someone mentioned to him how he grew up on one of his songs. Larry G then mentioned how it had been the first #1 single by a black artist on some billboard chart, and Prince yelled out "You're black Larry?" Larry started laughing, and then he says... Do you know how I learned I was black? I looked in the mirrow and saw this... Larry G then proceeds to do the most gangsta "walk" you have ever seen. Everybody was rolling laughing their ass off. I brought my fiance to the show; and she is not even a Prince fan. She even commented about how nice he seemed during the soundcheck. She also thought he was really funny with all the joking around he was doing. So there you have it, this is the real Prince! Come to the soundcheck and chill, you will like the man! Heck, I even have to admit that I liked Larry G as well! It pains me that people are coming on here and slandering him. So refreshing. A grown up that went to the souncheck and didnt cry about something. The loser punks and haters can learn something from this

thanks..... peterv It's first come first served. The seat you are able to grab at soundcheck is the seat you will have for the show. The NPG members get to choose any seat in the first 6 rows in Atlanta.

Wake up time: most concert-goers are paying that much and MORE for most concerts now. Just another asinine reason to put Prince at fault for something. He's human and has faults like anybody else, there ain't no need to bring up irrational bullshit. Cincinnati should be boycotted - he's not the only musician to boycott playing there recently either. Since you seem to be so hot to find something to criticize him for make it legitimate. Or shut the hell up. I've read this referenced somewhere else. What's the story about "the girl on the airplane"? Can you elaborate? I forget exactly, but it was something to the effect about some lady saying "Hey, aren't you?" Larry G says, "Why yes." The lady then says whoever it was she was referring to (obviously not Larry G), but I didn't make out what he was saying at that point. Anyone else hear that part? I heard the story at the indianapolis soundcheck.....The lady on the airplane thought Larry G. was FAMOUS AMOS!!! jealousy is not a strength, it is a weakness bgladthaturfree bgladthaturfree
