Some of my favorite Musicology moments

Now that the tour is over and I saw a few shows in a row, I had a chance to "catalog" all those great little moments that painted my Musicology experience.

Prince’s shadow being cast on the arena walls during parts of the show.

Rhonda, Prince and Candy starting in the middle during “I Feel For You” and then separating to different ends of the stage

Prince’s dancing during When Doves Cry – cracked me up everytime. He’s so creative!!!!!

The whole “I ain’t got no booty” schtick. I saw it 9 times and laughed my ass off each and every time.

Prince high-fiving a woman dancing on stage as he leaves and then shaking his hand like she hit too hard

Prince getting wheeled to and from the stage in a sealed equipment box. So Prince. My friends and family didn’t believe me until they saw it for themselves!!

The Rules during the acoustic set. “If you wanna talk…If you wanna TALK…do it during the commercials!”

Prince making faces and fanning Candy during her solo

Candy handing Prince his hat during When Doves Cry

Watching Greg Boyer throw out drumstick after drumstick into the crowd while he plays the cowbell on a song (can’t remember which one)

Watching Candy have the time of her life. And pointing to Prince when she’s singing “Life O’ The Party”

Maceo and Greg coming on stage to school us in their graduation gowns. LOVE THAT!

The band freezing in motion during the break in Musicology and Prince just standing there with his arms spread – soaking in the crowd’s adulation

The incredible sonic surge of the crowd when the band launches into When Doves Cry

Waiting for the encore and hearing the crowd surge again when the purple light is shone on the pearls

Getting pumped up during Alicia’s speech every show. Especially that part where she says “I want you to get on your feet…”

Mike Philips extended playing during “God” – moving from one edge of the stage to the other, holding his notes

Witnessing Wendy, Prince and Sheila all on stage together at the HOB aftershow. Awesome.

Prince chiding the crowd for missing their cue on Little Red Corvette.

Prince miming how he sings Cream’s line “everything you do is success” to himself in the mirror. HILARIOUS!

Prince getting the crowd to sing “Sweet Thing”. Beautiful.

Prince’s heel-less moon boots.

Prince dancing his ass off on-stage. That man works his butt off – literally!!!!!

Too many John Blackwell moments – the man is amazing. And though he probably hates it, I love watching his recovery when he drops a stick. Audibly you don’t even notice!

Grey Boyer acting out the “Let’s Work” lyrics, especially “I’ll make you climb the walls”

Watching Prince run from corner to corner after Purple Rain, saying goodbye to the crowd

Prince reclining on his chair to take a nap and Chance covering him with a blanket.

Prince turning to walk away from an end of the stage, then whipping around to glare at the crowd with a sexy smirk on his face.

Rhonda’s military style turns during Controversy. She is FIERCE!

Maceo as Ray Charles. What a treat to see him stretch out his voice on that.

Watching fans lose it on stage when he sticks the mic in their face to sing he next line – FROZEN!

Prince laying his blue guitar to rest. In my early shows, he slinked across the floor to it (be still my beating heart!), but at the last couple shows, he just lay the towel on it and retreated for Takumi to collect it

Prince graciously receiving flowers from a fan in Reno and singing right to the fan that gave them to him

Soaking in the cheers of the crowd during breaks or before encores – awesome to feel all that love for Prince every night

Last night, Prince stopped over at the little table in front of Chance to dab his sweaty brow with Kleenex. Then he picked up the mirror and held it up to Chance, and then checked his look. Amazing what you can see in the dark. wink

Watching how different fans enjoy the show. Some couldn’t stop moving the whole show (me), others were still as statues.

I took a couple of friends and all my family to their first Prince show. Universal comment "He has so much energy!" smile)

Getting to the venue to find out you have first row seats at a concert of a person whose career you have followed since you were nine years old is so freakin' cool.

Prince coming out from under the stage right in front of us. eek

Meeting John Blackwell before that first show was awesome and he was so nice to me. biggrin

Let's Work. biggrin

The pizza incident. biggrin

The aftershow on the 18th of June. Having Prince do Joy In Repetition AND Something In The Water just killed me!!! biggrin
