PRINCE UNPLUGGED IN DC!! just got home from the DC Sunday show. All I can say is --Damnnnnn
The encore was a FULL LENGTH version of Adore, most of Condition of the Heart, I wanna Be Your Lover, Girls and Boys, FULL LENGTH Nothing Compare 2 U, FULL LENGTH How Come U Don't Call Me Anymore, FULL LENGTH Purple Rain (YESS Purple Rain!!!), Most of Sometimes it Snows in April, and then...BAM!!!!! Carlos Santana on Anna Stesia and a FUCKING KILLER FULl LENGTH Joy in Repetition with Santana doing the solo. LOVE ME!!! This was the best I have ever seen him (and I have seen him a lot)... This was THE definitive Prince concert...replacing Capitol Ballroom 1998. Melt with u 1:09AM you look better on your facebook page than you do in person

WOOOOOHOOOOO!!!!!
Thanx 4 the early report, it was obvious that Santana would show up sooner or later at one of the DC shows. So now he did ..and how!!! Purple Rain added again 2 the setlist...stunning soundchecks. I think that the 3 DC shows will be the highlights of the current tour...don't think that it can get any better then this right?

Well... if Carlos showed up as Prince's gig, then it would only be proper for Prince to play at Carlos' gig (didn't someone say Santana had a gig on Monday?). If so, hopefully Prince will show up with his own axe (and pick) this time and get a little love from the Santana crowd. -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Glad u liked the show anyway. peace^ Will enslave who to what? Sounds as though you are enslaved to the words themselves. In Princeology, that would be standing-under the words, as opposed to understanding the words. Words are simply words, no more. Read again: "fucking killer VERSION". The version is what's "killer," not the "fucking." And why I'm bothering to point this out, I don't know. Be mindful of what you say about what others say -- unnecessary censorship of the expression of human emotion will leave your life empty and pointless. Peace be with you, but try to perceive the message and not the delivery. At least s/he used paragraphs. Shabas

I AM POSITIVE OF IT!!!!! in fact, looking to find a Santana ticket RIGHT NOW!!!

The show was fantastic. Prince is the man and my club membership was worth it and so was every dime I paid for the concert tickets.
If any of the people who were standing in line in the rain for the soundcheck come to this site I'd like to say.. To the lady from Annapolis with the really long hair that let me stand under her umbrella.. Thank You! To the guy with the blue t-shirt on standing behind us, you looked a little stunned to be on stage dancing, lol! You did great. To the other guy with the baseball cap and the Prince t-shirt on who got on stage and danced.... you worked it! Splits and all, ! To the lady with the "I'm A Follower" sign. So, did sitting on the stage and having Prince play a solo to you make up for standing in the rain. Ha!.. you were so upset earlier To the girl that was sitting beside me that got called to the stage to dance during "Raspberry Beret". You did better that I would have. I would have been too embarrased to dance in front of all those people. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I'll play it first and tell you what it is later. -Miles Davis-

I don't know why but I'm surprised to hear people gushing over whether or not he plays PR. Don't get me wrong, it's the signature song, a beautiful song, blah, blah, blah. But I simply CANNOT WAIT to hear the stuff I've NEVER heard live. No, I haven't seen him in concert 50 times (only 6, HAA!) but the other stuff on the setlist is what I'm gonna go nuts over. Hell, he could sing One Nite Alone over & over, I'd be just fine...

T-O-DoubleD The shows are getting better as the tour goes on. The earlier shows had a lot of cover songs in the setlist, cancelled soundchecks, plus seating problems for NPGMC members. Oh well, that's the way the cookie crumbles, I guess...

I was hoping for maybe Free or Extraodinary (which he said at Saturday's soundcheck that they were rehearsing for Sunday's show)! It sounded GREAT live!!

I don't have time for a long report, but I agree that this was as good as it gets. I lived in MPLS until 1996, and have seen Prince play some GREAT shows at Paisley Park and Glam Slam, as well as some nice shows on the East Coast over the last six years. I honestly think last night was as good or better than any show I've ever seen him play.
I didn't go Saturday, so I can't compare.... but yesterday's show was really incredible. (Friday was laughable in comparison.) Forget Santana, check this out... the first 35 minutes of the show... TRC/Muse/Xeno were so tight I nearly wet my pants. There are a lot of nights that Prince is literally on cruise control with his soloing and vocals. Not last night--the first 35 minutes--damn, I thought I was watching Miles at the Fillmore back in the '70s. Prince was really inspired on guitar and keyboards, like he had something to prove to Carlos. The show had the same first set as usual, except a LG segment, Sing A Simple Song/It's Alright/Alphabet Street/The Jam added in after Strange Relationship. As mentioned above, the encore contained an INCREDIBLE full version of Adore. I mean, he sang every last line, and he really was spontaneous on the piano and with his vocals. The full version of Joy was great. In addition to those mentioned already, he also played Condition..., D&P (short), I Wanna Be..., G&B, Do Me Baby, and How Come U... during the piano segment. For those worried that this set-list is going to get stale, don't worry... Prince and the band have plenty of room to stretch these songs. For those in Europe, he mentioned during the soundcheck that he was thinking about going to Europe pretty soon because he hasn't been there in a while. Someone asked when the live album would be coming out, and he replied: "Soon.... well actually, there is a bootleg already out!" Lol! No Candy 4 Me

I thought there was no set "set-list?" That & no bungee cords...

Some of the chat in soundcheck is really not worth mentioning. Let me say though Prince made it very clear he wanted to tour Europe. Prince also commented about a 'possible' live album being released soon (I would not hold my breath..where do I get the bootleg? haaa Prince!). The soundcheck was very loose and the band was mainly working on the 'Larry Graham' jams. Prince and the band would jam a little then Prince would chat some. He did mention at soundcheck that Santana was coming so they better play some of his music. Many people were leaving when Prince and Santana strolled out on stage and they started to jam and people rushed back in to whereever they could be and just enjoyed 'joy in repetition' jam. Prince did mention the ticket buying process will be getting better. The set was amazing and the crowd energy was high. NPGMC had an add in the stagebill and it has a picture of the possible cover? to the one nite alone cd.

By the way, the soundcheck didn't start until about 6:15. It literally took an hour for them to distribute tickets to club members; this process needs to start BEFORE 5:00 in the future. At about 5:20 you could hear Najee inside warming up a little.
Prince actually apologized for starting the soundcheck so late. He said he had been at "the kingdom." He then asked how many of us had gone to church today, to which very few raised their hands. Someone then yelled out "This is church." Prince got a funny look on his face and said: "This is definitely NOT church!" Some woman put a CDR on the stage containing her personal "cover" of Crazy You. Prince got REALLY annoyed and told her to come take it back. He asked her if she had gotten a license to do it, and she tried saying she had talked to Londell. Prince had a "whatever" look and said "Londell didn't write that song, I did." He then mentioned how Alicia Keys hadn't gotten a license to cover How Come.... Someone asked why he let her come to the Celebration then, and he said: "She's cool, it's her record company (i.e. Clive Davis)." Then he started saying how "did you notice how nobody covered my songs until I started fighting with my record company." "The first was Sinead O'Connor covering NC2U." No Candy 4 Me

Actually Londell wouldnt have anything to do with getting a license for his publishing since its now administered by Universal. Even if they denied it, she or anyone else could get a compulsory license.

I was at the Friday show and thought it was the best I had ever seen (though I've only been to a meager 3 concerts now). But it sounds like Sunday was the coup-de-grace. More power to all who were there to see it. Not a big surprise Santana showed up since Prince was covering Santana on Friday night.
Special hi to all those from Lovesexy DC that I met before the show at Shelly's Back Room. I can't remember all the screen names... tough enough catching real names when awaiting the start of a concert. Give a holla wheneva. John
