Musicology Tour on DVD - please

With the U.S. tour winding down, I was wondering what everyone thinks of the idea of having it on video/DVD.

Because this was a chance to hear the hits "one last time," and because the tour was a success, I am hoping the folks in the Prince camp will decide to release it. The live simulcast opening night in Las Angeles was no doubt taped and would be a great thing to add to our video/DVD collections.

What does everyone think?

I would guess there will be a DVD release, considering that Rave was released I can not Imagine why this tour which has been a huge succes will not have a DVD.

at this stage I think the LA dvd would be a bad move, the tour has evolved in many ways

we need a much more recent show - maybe NYC ?
Hard to believe I've been on the org for over 25 years now!

I'm sure there'll be a DVD release; it's his hottest concert tour in years and he will try to milk it as much as he can!!

Did they film the NYC show?

The July 31st show in Detroit was professionally filmed.... There was talk of it being a cable special (HBO, SHO) and a DVD release - but who knows what will happen - It was defintitly a special night with the Time showing up and the whole band dressed up a little more than usual (i saw 7 shows). And, Prince wore heals the whole night - that was definitely for the taping cause he didn't do that at any of the other shows.

Peace

Yeah, and add to that a slew of microphones placed all over the Joe Louis Arena stage area the night before on July 30. Could there be a connection with the Detroit gigs? Could be but who knows for sure.

All 3 NY shows were filmed. The July 14th show was professionally shot. This is the one with The Time opening with a 35 min set & Sheila E joining Prince to do "Glamorous Life" along with a wicked drum/conga solo. In terms of the release I would assume that it will come out at some point. Prince actually played the video at the afterparty that was held at BB Kings later that evening (It looked real Good). For the record the July 14th show is hard to get. There are a zillion traders salivating for its release. The other 2 are already availible

I'd love to have a DVD of the Musicology Tour. And I hate to say it, but I think it needs to be said that if/when a DVD of the Musicology Tour is released, the DVD needs to be "professional" grade quality.... NOT poor quality like the ONA Live DVD! The content of ONA Live was great, but the quality of the footage was horrible... especially for a DVD. The ONA Live DVD is simply inexcusable for someone of Prince's caliber. To have such a great blockbuster tour like Musicology then turn around and make a poor quality DVD of the show would darn near ruin it. So, if Musicology is released on DVD, I just hope that is professional quality.

With this excellent Philly DVD already circulating, who needs an official release? BUT I hate to say it, my nephew of all people; told me that Prince should do as Marilyn Manson did for a Tour DVD. Manson took one or two songs from different concerts in different cities and blended them all together to look like one show. IMHO this is a great idea and would really work since EVERY concert was filmed and shown on the big screen during the shows anyway. I often wondered what happened to these show that were professionally filmed (Most of the European outdoor arena shows are filmed), and why more of them haven't slipped out as bootlegs. Anyway, I'm all for an official Musicology DVD release; just please don't let it be NYC.

By the sound of it it's likely to be edited together from all the shows...
