Lyric changes at Musicology concert

Does anyone know or remember which songs Prince changed the lyrics to? And if so, what were the changes?
I know about the end of Purple Rain...something about "open up your Bible"...
Thanks!

"D.M.S.R." had several changes, among them (to the best of my memory):

  • "What the hell'd you come here for" -> "Tell me what you come here for"
  • "Work your body like a whore" -> "Shake that body like you want some more"
  • "We're gonna show you muthas how to scream" -> "We're gonna show you people how to scream"
  • "Wear lingerie to a restaurant" -> "Get busy in the middle of a restaurant"

The last change above puzzles me, as it seems more suggestive than the original line, and he had no problem singing, "I wish we all were nude" during "Controversy." confuse

One thing I couldn't hear at any of the shows I attended... did he change, "Screw the masses"?

Other changes:

"Never mind your friends, girl it ain't no sin, shake that body to the early light, come on now if you dare"

I think "screw" is changed to "forget", but I'm not certain.

I was so INTO the concert that I didn't 'take note' of the lyric changes, that's why I posted this topic. That was THE best concert I've ever been to.
Anyhow, I was thinking about Little Red Corvette...did he change the part about "a pocket full of horses....." etc...?

In Eye Would Die 4 U, he said "He's your messiah" instead of 'I'm your messiah'

"He's your Messiah" is NOT a change for Musicology Tour. Prince changed those lyrics for the Purple Rain Tour!

No... he left these lyrics intact.

I didn't take notes either... a little birdy gave me the Denver show I had front row to.

Ooops... I hope I didn't say that out loud just now.

Also, let's not forget the change in Purple Rain:

"I think you better close it, open up your bible and let God guide you to the purple rain"
"How embarrasing to be human!"

Actually, that change to Purple Rain was first heard around the time of the Rave 2000 show. So, AGAIN, NOT a change for the Musicology show.

So much teaching to do here! wink
