For those of you who were in Philly on 8/24

Or those who have seen the excellent DVD now circulating. Didn't it seem really scary when Prince stumbled on the lyrics in the beginning of SOTT? I felt like I was watching him fall off stage or something. It was just a strange, indescribable feeling throughout the arena. Watching the concert later though it just seems like he may have forgotten the first few lyrics, missed his mark, or just decided he didn't wanna do that song. But being there ... damn that was a weird feeling.

Indeed...

I commented on this in previous thread. Ever since Prince dropped the Mike during the opening medly, I think he was off, and never quite recovered. That was another example. He totally missed the vocal cue, and by the time he came in with a that kinda "rap" of the opening line, I think he decided he couldn't save it an moved on. The band was caught way off guard, and just barely made it into "Let's Work" on time.

Shame that show is circulating instead of the previous night, cause in every way P. was off on Tuesday, he was ON on Monday.

Hey, the guy's only human, but still, that was a strange experience seeing those messups.

Monday Night IS circulationg too. But you know, I think that his lil screw up is what helped to make that concert great for me. I was watching the MSG concert and I was in awe of how he hits this one scream so perfectly on mark. I've seen him do the show note for note and I was impressed, both Rutherford and Philly were basically just jams to me as opposed to watching Prince, "The Entertainer" , put on one hell of a show. He also messed up on "Prince and The Band", which I don't think anyone picked up on because not too many people are familiar with that song or just how it should go. But all in all nothing compares to that strange feeling of moving backwards while sitting in my seat, that I felt as he repeated "In France a skinny man". It was just creepy.

It was definitely strange....luckily all my non Prince fans with me that evening thought he was just screwing around and didn't even think twice. He may have been but it seemed like a bonafide flub to me! One more thing: on the DVD, you get a nice clear shot of Prince dropping the mike during IWD4U but to be hear in the Wachovia and hear that collective gasp from the crowd....it was definitely an off night but I still had an incredible time and I still think the show was damned good!!
