New Album Soon!

According to a report in the N.Y. Daily News on Sunday 8/29, Prince is preparing to record a new album near the end of next month at Paisley Park. The only catch.... It's going to be a Jazz album. Wallace Roney and Matt Garrison are reported to be some musicians involved

I love Jazz (funk Jazz especially). But I was hoping for a Triple Albums like Emancipation, or double like Sign o the Times.

I want more Rock, Funk, Jazz, etc...

Anxiety

i don't think it's a "catch" at all. we already got a pop album from him this year, and a handful of pop songs to download from the site. if we get a jazz album this year or early next year, it's gravy.

It's all good news, if he cuts down the wailing guitar that puts a dampner on NEWS I will be very happy.

Bring it on....
Happy is he who finds out the causes for things.Virgil (70-19 BC). Virgil was such a lying bastard!

Rockability

Prince has been directing himself to Jazz since The Black Album.

What would work for him in terms of quality and us in terms of listening would be if the majority were jazz@vocals. Have interludes and preludes of instrumental only. The guy has a great voice and his rhythm is on it. Not to mention his lyrical composition, which is above average.

Great - as long as it's not SNOOZE 2.

wallace roney is a great trumpet player. he and roy hargrove are the torch bearers for straight ahead jazz trumpet for the last decade or so. i have a number of his discs, and i'd love to here a prince-roney collaberation. so far p's jazz outings, for me, have been spotty (the madhouse projects being the exception), but playing with folks like roney, may push him. i am not familiar with matt garrison. i'll have to check him out.
