Portland Show - One of Two Best Shows I've Ever Seen! Okay last year I raved along with my fellow Aussie's when Prince hit the Australian shores in October.....but I made a journey here to Portland Oregon a month ago to see my girlfriend and last night was ABSOLUTELY BLOWN AWAY by the most IMPORTANT GENIUS that Pop/Rock/Soul Music has ever had to offer!
So, yes it was in SOME ways better than the Sydney show as I felt that Prince's whole show has become more developed for this tour, but on the other hand, he IS appealing to the masses a little in some areas (see the Alicia Keys speech, which I felt was a corny addition) but that is my only negative criticism as Prince absolutely gave me an orgasm or six last night just through the power of his stunning musicianship and showmanship. Well, that's all I can say for now as I'm still recovering from the brilliance! Phew! Any others who attended please feel free to post here!

I absolutely agree with your comments.... I was in the third row, floor last night... and although I have seen quite a few Prince concerts, (recently the Mandalay Bay Vegas show) he was outstanding last night... I'm absolutely blown away... and completely worn out.... This was, by far, the best that I have seen him... playful, happy and enjoying his "work"... Thank you Prince. princeinhood

hey, two rows in front of me! great to hear that this was indeed Prince at his best from someone who's seen a lot of shows (I've only seen the one in Sydney, as mentioned)!

I know it's just a minor "negative" from your point of view, but I don't think the Alicia Keys speech is a corny thing to include. Not everyone who will see Prince perform will know that he has been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. I think it's good to see that Prince is actually proud of one of his accomplishments for a change instead of constantly "acting" like none of the accolades ever matter. So in my opinion, the Alicia Keys speech is very appropriate to open a show like Musicology where Prince is obviously celebrating his legendary "pop" status. And besides... as Prince would say, "if it's true, it ain't braggin". "You've got to believe in something... why not believe in me?"

My sister went to this one. (I went to the Mpls. shows) She had not seen him since the Pruple Rain tour, and joined the Music Club so she could get great seats. She dragged her husband (who is not a Prince fan) to the Portland show, and I can't wait to hear what she thought of the show. I'm sure she loved it, but I just really want to hear what my brother-in-law thought, since he's never seen him live. i totally agree with u guys...the show was sooooo awesome. this was my 2nd time seeing prince (i saw him at the shnitz in portland a couple of years ago on the One Night Alone tour) after having seen prince perform live not once, but twice, i can definitely live a much happier life now. and what was so great about the show was how much luv there was...u could tell that the audience was luving prince, and he could totally tell, and was feeding off the luv that was being shown 2 him. i had 2 sit all the way back in sec. 103, so u guys were A LOT closer than i was
but its all good...the show totally rocked...i think it will take me a while longer 2 get over this experience lets just hope that he will come through here at least one more time... peace "...took my sex and my money...took all my self esteem...had the nerve 2 think it was funny...i never knew a bitch so mean"
