does Prince doing covers on ONA tourbother you?

Does it bother anyone else that Prince does several covers during his latest tour? I saw the Cleveland show and loved it but it seems with his vast catalogue he doesn't need to do cover songs.People seemed to get into "Rollercoaster" but wouldn't they also get into one of his "hits"too? And how about a Prince medley in place of the Santana medley? But I must say that 'A case of you" was awesome!!! What do you think

No, it doesn't bother me....i loved it.
Keep in mind, he was making a statement about the sorry state of current top 40 radio. The covers were just his way of saying that these songs are all cool, and they should have never been taken off the radio...didnt cha know??

I love all his versions of others songs, especially "One of Us", "A Case of U", "La,La,La Means I Luv U", and "Betcha, Bye Golly Wow"
Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.

I like it, but wish he'd mix in some Hendrix..."Crosstown traffic"..."Voodoo Chile(Slight Return)"..."Bold as Love"

Saw him do "Superstition" at an aftershow....wow.

It didn't bother me a bit...Some of my favorite songs of his have been covers (I Can't Make U Love Me).

However, I should say, it didn't bother me until about the 100th time he started "Rollercoaster" it got old, and all of the "woo woo" around me was starting to get annoying! eek

Prince seemed really excited to be touring this time around. I saw him on the Hit N Run tour, and it seemed like he was just goin through the motions. This time around he's doing the songs HE wants to play, not what the fans expect of him. In that regard, whether it be covers or more obscure songs of his, he's having fun and it shows.

My only gripe about him covering other artists is the royalties issue. Someone on here posted a letter to NPGMC asking if it would be ok to release (for free) some of their own remixes of Ps work. The reply he got said it would not, and called it "pirating".

Is it right for Prince to take our ticket money to see him perform other peoples songs that he didn't write? Is it any worse for someone to remix his stuff and release it for free? Either way, someone is appropriating someone else's work. Just seemed like a double standard to me.

No,it didn't bother me.I thought it was a nice homage to other artist and way to say that it is okay to dig the others work.Plus so many fans knew the songs that he sang and really got into that it was a total blast.
