HELP!! MSG 7/14 Acoustic Question

[b]Hello All of you folks who were lucky enough to attend the MSG 7/14 show with Sheila E and the Time.
biggrin
It was truly a moving night, I felt the love ...wish I could repeat the experience once a month!!

I was really loving the acoustic set...but no playlist I've seen is complete....

He started to sing Jailhouse Rock and made a joke about being a Prince before you can be a King....he then did a non prince tune, which he said...."this was the jam, back in the day" i think he said something about being in the backseat of the car with this playing on the radio....and it was a ballady...70'ish love/relationship song.....Prince started playing it and the entire MSG crowd knew every word instinctively, i dont even think Prince kept singign...he just played the jam and we all sang it....I LOVED that song and swore Id remember it...but ive forgotten it/////WHAT WAS THAT TUNE???? ANYONE KNOW??? or has he done a similar thing at other shows....PLEASE HELP confused lol

That was Chaka Kahn's Sweet Thing. I believe the first time that he did this one with crowd participation was at the Vegas show on the 30th of Jan. That Garden show was cool with Sheila performing. I caught one of her drum sticks that she threw out to the audience...Got it autographed at the afterparty...:-)Aloha~

The song was called "Sweet Thing". It was originally done by a band called Rufus who had an (at the time) unknown singer named Chaka Khan.
"It's not easy having a good time..... even smiling makes my face ache."

I'm pretty sure it was "Sweet Thing" that you're talking about. He performed it again at the Continental Arena show on 7/18 also, and the whole audience sang it, he didn't. He said something along the lines of all the girls knowing it from high school....Now that was a great memory.....

I can't believe how many people don't know Sweet Thing! It's a classic by Chaka and was redone by Mary J. Blige a few years ago. Is everyone 15 or something?
