Advice 4 a Prince Concert Virgin?

Hey all,

I am counting down the days 'til I go see Prince in DC on August 13th! My seat will most likely turn out to be absolutely terrible, but I am so incredibly excited to just be there. I am from NC but missed the Carolina shows 'cause I was in Europe. This'll be my first Prince concert, and I've been a fan for five years now - so this is a long time coming. omg

So. Who's gonna be there? What should I wear? Where are the afterparties? Should I try to get a better seat when I get there? It looks like I'll be going it alone so maybe there will be a lonely seat somewhere closer to the stage.

Are these stupid questions? biggrin

Mainly I am posting because it's 2 in the morning, I can't sleep, it's pouring rain outside, and I am suffering a bheart. Also I've been MIA from the site in a long time and I kinda missed it.

When u go 2 this concert think of it as going 2 an exersice class, cause that's what Prince will have u doing from beginning 2 end. Comfortable shoes r a must!!!!! Short or better yet no sleeves, make sure u use plenty of holding spray 4 the hair, and gum 2 keep your mouth from getting dry along with some water. Aside from that don't worry about the rest. Whatever seat u have will be a great seat and if there's an afterparty or show word gets around pretty quick.

So enjoy your 1st ever Prince concert!! I guarantee u'll have a totally different view of the man once u've seen him live.

I couldn't agree more! The most important thing is that you don't expect to sit down and that you do expect a hot, sweaty workout.

So like stillw8ing said, wear comfortable shoes and a short sleeved shirt.

Oh, and don't worry about going alone...you'll be with friends before the show itself even starts. Just start talking to folks. They're so cool!!!

Absorb, breathe and feel every second of your first experience. It will be a memory you will call upon many many times. If you have something with a deep pocket or pouch to keep ID. money, keys and the Musicology CD they will give you it avoids having to worry about keeping track of things. I just throw a small square silk pouch on a long cord around my neck ~ not hot or bulky and everything fits. And ~JOIN THE NPGMC so you get up close and personal next time ~ it is SOOOOO worth it biggrin Have the most amazing time and let us know how it was!!!!!

Got to agree, excellent info for the concert. But comfortable shoes are a definite must.

And do a few warm up exercies before you go, just to loosen up. Because you will be on your feet the "WHOLE" TIME!!!!!

So far as going by yourself, I usually go by myself and I've never left without a new Purple friend.

Enjoy,

I've been to 50 Prince concerts in my life and I've worn comfortable shoes to just the first 4 and never again. I am not very tall and when I wear high heels I can see something even if I am not in the first 2 rows (besides from the fact that they look cool). In fact I don't wear high heels very often, but nearly to every concert I attend and Prince is no exception. So comfortable shoes are not a must for everybody lol.
With a very special thank you to Tina: Is hammer already absolute, how much some people verändern...ICH hope is never so I will be! And if, then I hope that I would then have wen in my environment who joins me in the A....

I'm with ya. I wore heels last night, and I was not just moving around. I was dancing my a$$ off! My shoes were remarkably comfortable, however, for heels, so I wasn't hurtin' too bad. And I continued the hard dancing until Excalibur/Vision kicked us out.

You're a hot babe, judging from your pic! smile Wear your hottest outfit, cleavage, tight pants etc. Now when you enter the concert, go where the good seats are(check the seating chart beforehand, of course) and find the 1st male usher there, flirt with him a little and beg him to upgrade your seat! If that doesn't work slip him a 20 dollar bill! You be surprised how far that can go, unless it's sold out, then your beat. Good luck and enjoy, he's the greatest!

Comfort does not mean low heels. I wear heels 2 every show myself, but they're the comfy 3-4 in. heels. wink
