On multi-night concert stays...which show is better...first, middle or last? Going to the first of 3 DC shows on Thursday..this is the first time I'm going on the opening night of a multi night show (the last time he was in town in for the ONA Tour i went to night #3 and was blessed with a surprise walk on performance by Carlos Santana on JIR!!).
For those who have seen the show more than once in the same city, which night usually has the most punch? I know a lot has to do with the crowd, but i figure the first show is the one that usually gets reviewed in the paper and on radio and TV...but I did have that wonderful closing night experience last time (not to mention I can't help thinking a Saturday show is gonna be more pumped than a Thursday...what's your experiences? you look better on your facebook page than you do in person

When P was in Detroit in June, I went to both shows and the second night kicked ass. Don't get me wrong, the first night was good, but he blew the roof off the Palace on the second night. When he was here last month, I only went to the the 1st of 3 shows. It was good, but wouldn't you know it, on the second night The Time openend up the show. Boy was I pissed.
So from my experience the second night is usually the best. [This message was edited Mon Aug 9 7:49:23 2004 by PurpleCharm]

I've been to quite a few 3 nighters and by the 3rd night all the bugs have been worked out, Prince knows he moving to the next destination or having a break and usually pull out all the goodies.
ONA - DC - Last Night Santana Musicology - NY - Sheila and the Time I'd rather have 3rd night tickets that first night anytime. I've learned my lesson. **************************************************

The second and third showsin MSG NYC I went the 2nd night and it was just a straight prince concert with no surprises, but the 3rd show is when the Time and Sheila E showed up and surprised the MSG NYC audience, so in my opinion the 2nd and 3rd!!!!!

It usually goes: 1st = great
2nd = greater 3rd = greatest " a newborn child knows nothing of destruction, nothing of love & hate"

I would say the 2nd show. Openeing nite in any city is always new...realtively tentative. The second nite in NYC at the GArden was the best...Yeah, yeah, The TIme and Sheila E. were awesome on the last night, and Prince seemd to be having a ball, but the second night was truly amazing in terms of the set lsit and the energy and the GUITAR!!!!! But i would always say the 2nd and last shows... Purplehead
