1st of 3 chicago shows

it was great! the band was tight as always and prince was in full swing! he had the entire venue up on their feet through pretty much the whole show. the setlist was basically the same as previous shows with only a few slight changes. there was no question of u/fallin'/the one. in its place, "pop life" was performed! has "pop life" been performed at any other show? i don't recall seeing it on anyone's setlist but i may have just overlooked it. during the acoustic set prince added "peach" and "i love u in me"!!! i thought i was gonna die...i can't believe i heard "i love u in me" live!

anyhow, its late and i'm tired. i need to grab some zzz so i can function tomorrow at the 2nd show! i'll leave the good reviews to those who have the patience for that sort of thing. smile

The concert was amazing!

Highlights, getting the birdseye view of Prince rising from under the stage (no man should be that fine!):

I Love U in Me
The Beautiful Ones
Nothing Compares To You

Prince showed at Excalibur around 2 a.m. He was on the third level looking down on the dance floor in his white pants and black sleeveless top chillin'. I know he had to be thinking, "I had all those people crushed in this little space during the JOTY Tour aftershow? And that's why he probably opted to do his aftershow at HOB. Of course, the above Prince thought is MHO in trying to read his mind.

smile The show was great and P looked Super!
He did change a few songs from the last time he was there.
I love when he said "HEY CHICAGO..... I'M BAAAAACK!"
Awesome.
I just wish he would change the set list a bit more for each show..

I enjoyed last night's show very much. I noticed some small changes as well from the show I saw in Raleigh so that was a welcome surprise. A surprise that wasn't so welcome was the configuration at Allstate Arena. Somebody, somewhere needs their ayass whooped for that ridiculousness. The layout is so horrible. Can you say TRAFFIC JAM?? And to make matters worse there isn't enough parking to accomodate the place, so folkx are being herded like cattle on shuttle busses from across the interstate to the arena. Not to mention the like 5 or 6lanes of traffic I saw trying to get out of the Arena's offical parking lot... all merging into 1 lane. I was like "R U FRICKIN KIDDING ME???"

The show started late about 45-minutes and we still missed about 15-20 minutes, which sucked big time.

Also, I got up to go to the bathroom after the first set during "A Wonderful World"... no biggie I'd already seen the show. But I couldn't believe the number of folks who were out in the hallways as well. Going to the bathroom, buying drinks, just hanging out. I knew these folks hadn't been to multiple shows so I was thinking they're crazy. I didn't dare go anywhere my first show. I wanted to say what the heck are you doing out here chillin... there is some bad ayass music being played in there can't you feel that horn???

I was surrounded mostly by a bunch of drab folks too. They clearly didn't know a single song. They were standing but they weren't really feeling the funk. UGH. That is the WORST.

It's gonna take all the strength in me NOT to try and score tix to tonight's concert. I just can't afford it!! LOL

i went to the chicago show in june and it took us an hour to get out of the parking lot. this time my friend and i rode our bikes and that worked really well. we parked about two miles away and biked the rest of the way. cops let us park our bikes where the tour buses were parked - they called us the two smartest people in the joint. then we got our front row tix from will call and headed to the show.

anybody know anything about the prince and the band song?
