Why do progressives want to cancel women?

There are a few terms/terminology that's been going around that really bothers me.

Using 'Persons Who Give Birth' and 'Menstrating People' is extremely disrespectuful to Women/Females. There was even some places where they wanted to remove use of Father/Mother.

I know what/why they are doing this, but I mean this extreme force in changing of language is sensless

Why do progressives want to cancel women?

Bernard Goldberg, opinion contributor 2 hrs ago

I have a confession to make. I'm hopelessly behind the curve. Excuse my language, but I'm ... old-fashioned. I'm one of those Neanderthals who is so unwoke that I actually believe - forgive me again, please - that only women can get pregnant and have babies.

But at least I'm open to new ideas - and trust me, there is no shortage of new ideas about who's capable of childbirth.

...

Let's start with the progressives in lefty-land at the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU). They quoted the late Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg on abortion, but instead of quoting her accurately, this is what came out of the ACLU's woke sensibilities:

"The decision whether or not to bear a child is central to a [person's] life, to [their] well-being and dignity."

Justice Ginsburg wrote about women, not "persons." So the ACLU apologized for tampering with her actual words. But the folks over there apparently know something about who can and who can't "bear a child" that I don't know. There's a line in a great old love song about how "The fundamental things apply, as time goes by." Don't bet on it.

...

Then there's the Department of Justice (DOJ), which put out a brief against the Texas abortion law - a brief that refers to "any individuals who become pregnant." I'm not cool enough to understand why the DOJ didn't simply say "any woman who becomes pregnant."

And the folks at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) want everyone to know that COVID-19 vaccines are safe for "pregnant people."

The White House's 2022 fiscal year budget replaced the word "mothers" with "birthing people" in a section about public health funding. This prompted Jessica Anderson, of the conservative Heritage Action, to tweet, "Why does [President] Biden want to cancel mothers?"

...

Nicole Ault, who writes for the Wall Street Journal's editorial page, says that, "Language and the law are inseparable. If we erase sex-specific words from our language, we erase, too, what it means to be a man or a woman. Where does it stop? There are people - you can look it up - who identify as not human. Is 'person' an insensitive term?"

...

I did look it up - and here's what I found on the University of Cambridge's website: "As social beings, a sense of identity plays an important role in our relations - and in our own happiness. But identity doesn't have to be narrowly human."

In the article was a picture of a young woman who obviously doesn't identify as a human, with this caption: "When people ask me 'How does it feel to be a cat?' I'm like, 'How does it feel to be a human?'"

I'm so confused! I used to believe all the "birds and bees" stuff. But then, I'm a pathetic cisgender man, so what do I know? Actually that's a rhetorical question because I do know this much: The fundamental things no longer apply as time goes by.

"Any educational institution that receives federal funding must admit biologically-male athletes to women's teams, women's scholarships, etc. A new glass ceiling was just placed over girls," she tweeted, adding that the order "unilaterally eviscerates women's sports."

Her message was retweeted by Erielle Davidson from the Jewish Institute for National Security of America who described Biden's order as a "sad day for women's sports" because it would mean that "women must compete against biological males at the risk of injury and loss of title.

"Don't ever tell me this is 'pro-woman.' It's not. It's destructive and malicious." Davidson added. Ryan Anderson from the conservative Heritage Foundation wrote that "in reality, it spells the end of girls' and women's sports as we know them."

On Thursday, Steube reintroduced the Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act which he had put forward earlier in the month before Biden took office and which is backed by 13 other GOP lawmakers.

In a statement, he said the bill would "protect women and girls in competitive sports. It states that "in athletics, sex shall be recognized based solely on a person's reproductive biology and genetics at birth."

In 16 states there are policies aiding the inclusion of trans/non-binary/GNC (gender non-conforming) students in high school athletics, according to Transathlete.

Humans are mammals. All mammals exhibit sexual dimorphism. Biological sex is a reality and should not be ignored.

FYI, although I first registered as a Democrat in 2020, I have always been a Democratic-leaning voter. Since I became eligible to vote in 2004, every presidential candidate and Senate candidate for whom I have voted has been a Democrat. I voted for John Kerry in 2004, Barack Obama in 2008 and 2012, Hillary Clinton in 2016, and Joe Biden in 2020. I say all of this to say that there are many Democrats who are very uncomfortable with the progressive Left’s positions on transgender-related issues.

MAYBE aoc people are mad because while talking of lifting women you and the illiberals don't seem to respect (females:girls and women)

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez said not only women menstruate, but also trans men and nonbinary people, responding to an earlier comment she made referring to "menstruating people."

"Trans men & non-binary people can also menstruate," Ocasio-Cortez tweeted, along with a screenshot of a Daily Mail headline that said: "AOC calls women 'menstruating people' while explaining the female body."

.

"Some women also *don’t* menstruate for many reasons, including surviving cancer that required a hysterectomy. GOP mad at this are protecting the patriarchal idea that women are most valuable as uterus holders," the New York Democrat continued.
.

Ocasio-Cortez referred to "menstruating people" during a CNN interview discussing a restrictive Texas law that blocks abortion after a fetal heartbeat is detected.

"I don't know if he is familiar with a menstruating person's body. In fact, I do know that he's not familiar with a woman, with a female, or menstruating person's body," she said of Texas Gov. Greg Abbott. "He speaks from such a place of deep ignorance, and it's not just ignorance. It's ignorance that's hurting people."
