Trump is back!

We haven't seen the last of Donald Trump yet. Even Republicans who opposed him are now saying they will support him if that's what it takes to get the White House back. And if Kamala Harris is all the Democrats have to offer, he will probably succeed. Joe Biden only won because people hated Trump, but three years from now, that feeling will be gone. Of course a lot can happen in the coming years, but the difference between Reps and Dems isn't going to go away. It's only getting worse. Obama offered hope and yes we can, but after that, we got Trump. It always seems to go from one extreme to another.

This could be a bait thread judging by the title.

Also, I wouldn't call Obama or anyone from the Democrat party extreme. Bernie Sanders only appears extreme because the socio-economic pendulum for people in America has moved so far to the right in past 30-40 years. In Scandinavia he would probably be viewed as a centrist.

The hypocrisy of the far-left is something else.

Yes, most likely a typical bait thread or will end up as one.

I think I'll take both as a compliment. wink Anyway, no, that wasn't my intention. Just expressing my feeling that we seem to be running out of politicians who are reliable. In my own country, the government fell, there were new elections and after half a year of trying to form a new government, the parties who formed the old one are coming back together, so nothing has changed. And then I saw the news of Trump gaining support. It kind of makes you lose hope. That's what I was thinking about when I started this thread.

.

Whether trump is the next presidential candidate is in the hands of courts and the GoP. Given Biden's age there was always a strong probability that he would only ever be a one term president largely elected simply because he is not trump.

.

trump's supporters in the GoP political machine will only stand by him whilst they can benefit by doing so. They will weigh up that even if he is re-elected, he will only be useful for two years, then he will be a lame duck as they look to who will replace him. Worse than that, his nepotism means that they will need to consider the possibility that trump will use the second term to prepare for a dynasty. At some stage the GoP will need to consider how they can motivate the trump base.

That’s the truth. It’s pathetic that anyone would want to vote for him, and yes it seems the desperation to keep certain privileges is what voting for him is more of their concern, than what’s actually good for the country.

Unfortunately, Trump isn't going away. He has a stranglehold on the GOP, and Democrats better understand that.

Yeah, I think many Dems are pretty much aware of that, because he hasn’t detached himself from the GOP who can’t seem to function without him, and he still can’t accept that he lost the election.

Or you can just give up and let this country decay like other empires have in the past, and move on to whatever the next good place is your future (or your children's futures).

Giving up would be a bad choice. Thank goodness for those who didn’t fear the grip trump had on the GOP and went out and voted against him, which is why he lost the last election.

I truly hope voters will have the same fire in the next one.

Actually he lost because the phony ass election rigging Electoral College is still in place.

.

No, actually, his loss looks smaller because of the phony ass election rigging electoral college system.

.

He lost on the total national vote ie lost on one person one vote.

.

He would have lost if each state was given an equal proportional vote relative to its eligible to vote population - ie one person, one vote counted by State whether or not they voted.

.

He would have lost if each state was given an equal proportional vote relative to its actually voting population - ie one person, one vote counted by State.

.

He would have lost on a preferential voting system as it would not have gone to preferences because Biden got more than 50% of the vote.

.

He would have lost with run off election system if no gets more than 50% in the first election as it it would not have gone to a run off election because Biden got more than 50% of the vote.

.

The gerrymander built into the electoral college system favours the smaller population states which favoured trump, so the electoral college system understated his loss.

And that seems to be exactly what Trump is going for: coming back with a vengeance. And I don't really see how anybody is going to stop him. He's got the Republican party in his hands and the Democrats only have an old guy and a lady who, let's face it, was only chosen because of her skin colour. So unless the Dems come up with a new Obama, it doesn't look good.

Do you think a Black or Latino or Asian person as stupid and ignorant and loud as Marjorie Taylor Greene or Matt Gaetz or Lauren Boebert (a HS dropout!) could ever be elected to Congress ?
