cANCEl Culture 'The truth doesn’t seem to matter'

my first 'realization' of it happening in a different way came after the increase of reality shows

And people watching celebrities or people who are socialites.

The sad thing is that on average people watch about 5-7hrs of TV a day.

Whoopi Goldberg criticizes cancel culture: 'The truth doesn’t seem to matter'

Jessica Napoli - Yesterday 9:30 AM

"Because there is cancel culture, people will call or text and say, ‘I’m not buying your product. This is who you have talking about your product, me and my 5 million followers, if you keep her, we’re not going to buy your car, or we’re not going to buy your shampoo or we’re not going to buy your toothbrush or we’re not going to buy your Pampers," Goldberg mused.

She was out of work for five years until Barbara Walters offered Goldberg a spot on "The View."

Exactly. There is nothing new and nothing onesided about cancel culture. Before the Beatles, it was McCarthyism. Before that there were various boycotts on against slavery, absentee farm owners especially Captain Boycott. There have been many boycotts over time: Of Ford for an anti-semitic article. The salt boycott in India, The bus boycotts following Rosa Parks and in South Africa. The grape growers boycott. Taco Bell, NFL, NRA, against the North Carolina Bathroom Bill. etc etc etc.

.

Before this there was a boycott of British goods because there was a new Stamp Act where people felt that this was taxation without representation.

NBA news: Shaquille O'Nea...oints.com)

Shaquille O’Neal gets brutally honest on being afraid of cancel culture

Shaq is one of the most beloved NBA players ever. The Los Angeles Lakers icon has endeared himself to fans because of his outgoing personality, childish humor, and constantly giving back to the community. So it would seem implausible that he would get bashed. But with the way cancel culture has become pervasive on social media when someone messes up, even a guy like Shaq isn’t safe (via Reddit).

“I try to tell people I’m a real model, not a role model. Everybody makes mistakes. When I make a mistake, I want you to learn from my mistake. I probably won’t make a purposeful mistake, I may make an accidental mistake, but I try to be as respectful and righteous as I can. Times are different. You can’t say things like you used to could say.”

With the 24/7 nature of news in the digital age, celebrities are always under the microscope. One slip-up and it would be all over the headlines and online platforms. Shaq himself has been embroiled in several issues because of his controversial statements regarding the current crop of NBA players. So he knows how hard it is to stay on the right lane.

Half of them need to find something to do. Now they getting rid of one of my favorite Office episodes and more. Might as well get rid of all the 90s shows and especially Married With Children if its like that. SMH

Download all the shit hop that you can for your kids, neices, nephews, and their friends also. That will prevent them from going out and buying it and will prevent some shit hop sales. Every little bit helps - Andy

The thing about 'cancel culture' is much different from before is social media and social media 'interactions' did not exist back in the day, like today.

.
What I started to see happening was the result of FB twitter + Reality TV where people more 'intimately' followed peoples lives, many of these people not even being celebrities. So you have people who almost invest their time in following peoples lives and feeling they have the right to critique and judge them, nit pick, tell them how they don't like how they styled their childs hair etc

Which of course can become very detached and vicious

.

It's easy for people who are not 'popular' to do the very same things they accuse 'famous' people of doing, yet we don't readily have access to 'regular' peoples conversations and actions.
