So when you have both will you keep wearing that thing? That's like taking aspirin because you might get a headache. We should do what we can to stop the virus, but there is no need to be paranoid about it.

So, you will wear them in solidarity with employees who have to wear them because of policy?
Ok, then.

If you believed that the possibility of a lab leak was a debunked conspiracy theory, you're getting your news from the wrong source. Just sayin'...

I might stop wearing them after my second vaccine but I will still be paranoid about it
There has to be a good reason why employees are still required to wear them

According to a new gallup poll, fully vaccinated people are far more likely to still wear masks than those that have no plans to get the covid shot.

Bill Maher cited a Gallup poll showing that 71% of Democrats believe that otherwise healthy people should stay at home as much as possible.

There's a lot of Democrats in this forum. Do any of you agree with that statement?

Saw that. No I don't agree with that statement. In fact, I was rather surprised. But please Deej, don't characterize all of us with that poll.

JULY 2020

https://youtu.be/9tYdeuSebzQ
https://youtu.be/_2MmX2U2V3c
Krystal and Saagar react to Dr. Fauci's interview where he admits health officials downplayed the importance of masks to save PPE for healthcare workers.
Saagar and Ryan Grim respond to concerns about Dr.Fauci's coronavirus advice from Megan McCain and Texas Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick who said, 'I don’t need his advice anymore.' About Rising: Rising is a weekday morning show with bipartisan hosts that breaks the mold of morning TV by taking viewers inside the halls of Washington power like never before. The show leans into the day's political cycle with cutting edge analysis from DC insiders who can predict what is going to happen. It also sets the day's political agenda by breaking exclusive news with a team of scoop-driven reporters and demanding answers during interviews with the country's most important political newsmakers.

In the US, vaccines are widely available and free to all.

Anybody in an at-risk group should get vaccininated.

People in public are starting to go unmasked. You can go in a store and nobody will hassle you. My church is still full masks but that's only respect for the priests. The priests are only doing it because word hasn't come down from up top to stop yet. The second I'm outside, the mask is off. Bible class, nobody masks and nobody has masked this entire "pandemic"

Usually when others see that others are not wearing a mask, they get brave and take theirs off. Everybody's doing it for others but the majority don't seem to actually care.

So I'm happy vaccines are widely available and free. Anybody who is worried or at-risk should get one.

Me, I'm not worried. So no masks, no vaccines, no problem. If I get it, I get it. (But I have a theory that I caught covid in Late December 2019-January 2020. We had a ton of Chinese tourists for the winter and I had some type of sickness for about a week or two)

I feel bad for the people still trapped in blue states. Not trying to make it a partisan thing but we know what covid is now and to still be locked down is pointlessly destructive. I feel less bad when they visit here on vacation and go into hysterics because people aren't behaving the way they think they should behave.

Nothing pisses me off more than tourists leaving negative reviews on local restaurants, who basically had the fight of their life just to stay open during all of this, while they post positive reviews for tourist things. Suddenly they don't need a mask when they're fishing on a charter boat but heaven forbid some small business owner doesn't wear one during their 8 hour shift making pizzas or somebody comes in maskless and the business owner doesn't make a scene.

And what is that?

Basically if you're wearing a mask and the other person isn't then you're giving them more protection than you're giving yourself.

Additionally, if someone is fully vaccinated and they're not wearing a mask they are likelier to pass on an infection, at least asymptomatically, than catch an infection from somebody else.

Yes, and those of us who have been vaccinated and still wear a mask are protecting the anti vaxxers and anti maskers.

And let's not forget the losers who are walking around acting like they have been vaccinated and not wearing a mask.

It's good to see some informed and sensible comments in this thread.

On the thread maybe, but not in this post. The more people get vaccinated, the less harm the virus will do and therefore the wearing of masks becomes more and more useless. Over here in Holland, the government is going to put and end to the rule of wearing one. It was about time!

For those that think there is no harm from the masks...

A group of Florida parents sent a batch of masks worn by their children to a lab. Here's what they found:

https://rationalground.co...ace-masks/

"The analysis detected the following 11 dangerous pathogens on the masks:

  • Streptococcus pneumoniae (pneumonia)
  • Mycobacterium tuberculosis (tuberculosis)
  • Neisseria meningitidis (meningitis, sepsis)
  • Acanthamoeba polyphaga (keratitis and granulomatous amebic encephalitis)
  • Acinetobacter baumanni (pneumonia, blood stream infections, meningitis, UTIs—resistant to antibiotics)
  • Escherichia coli (food poisoning)
  • Borrelia burgdorferi (causes Lyme disease)
  • Corynebacterium diphtheriae (diphtheria)
  • Legionella pneumophila (Legionnaires’ disease)
  • Staphylococcus pyogenes serotype M3 (severe infections—high morbidity rates)
  • Staphylococcus aureus (meningitis, sepsis)

Half of the masks were contaminated with one or more strains of pneumonia-causing bacteria. One-third were contaminated with one or more strains of meningitis-causing bacteria. One-third were contaminated with dangerous, antibiotic-resistant bacterial pathogens. In addition, less dangerous pathogens were identified, including pathogens that can cause fever, ulcers, acne, yeast infections, strep throat, periodontal disease, Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever, and more."

Ha! Reminds me of some report that listed all the pathogens that could be found on the penis, so you should always wash after whizzing. Right. If dicks were that dangerous, the species would have died out long ago.

Never wore a mask because wearing a medical appropraite mask by non-mediacal personel in Netherlands would get you a hefty fine.
We were only allowed to wear commerciually available masks that were proven that they didn;t work (Medical masks have anti-bacterial filters that do the work needed and these bullshit overpriced masks don't.)

You betray yourself with the language you use. The wearing of masks certainly becomes less and less needed. But you seem to be starting from a position of them being 'useless' in the first place.

Six masks? Great sample size. But anyway, it looks like they're protecting from an awful lot more than just Covid-19.
