I will never lower myself to the nadir of celebrating any man's death. No matter what any man was, he is a child of God. If I am able to see Him, I do not want to explain the hatred required to do such a thing in regards to a brother on this planet.

Rush was far from perfect - he was a human. I admired his courage. His candor was always needed and his was like no other. America will miss it.

I guess you admired this about him also : "Rush made lies common in America and gave us the right wing takeover of media lies. He used the radio waves to spread dangerous views and made lying for a living the norm."???

As the Thread starter mention in the first post:-( confused

Anyone who celebrated Black deaths and those who have died of AIDS deserves to burn to a pile of powder in the lowest depths of hell. He wasn't courageous. He was a white supremacist coward, as they all are. Anyone who liked him deserves the grief they get from logical people.

Exactly...he'd never say "take the bone out of your nose" to a brotha's face. A fucking coward, as all racists are.

If there is a god/final judgement (which I doubt), hopefully Rush is getting his (along with Breitbart).

The same type of person who'd support a person who mocked a disabled reporter, calls women pigs, horse faces, and fatsos, brags about infidelity, and general has the biggest case of small dick syndrome I've ever seen. That's who. Birds of a feather...

One could say that attacking an individual Black person in a racially demeaning and stereotypical manner is in a way an attack on the Black community (or any community being labeled) .

And is a “personal “ interaction the only standard for having a reaction to someone? If a person came on here and said that their child was molested or murdered, I could hate the perpetrator even if I never met them or if they did anything to me personally.

youre moving the goalposts by talking about murderers and child molesters...this is about Rush Limbaugh...an inconsequential man who died...your life after Rush Limbaugh's death will be no different than your life before he died... his death will not benefit you or I in any calculable or tangible way... so what are you really celebrating?... a death...someone brought up people celebrating when a dictator dies.. well yeah, theyre thinking their lives and situations are going to change for the better... not at all comparable to a racist/bigoted radio show host..u may say he has vocal power to rally peoples emotions ...well thats kinda weak because those people were already in their feelings and didnt need Limbaugh to set them off.

I’m not “moving the goalposts “, I’m simply pointing out that it is possible to have an opinion on something or someone even if you never met them, or even if their actions never effected you personally.

As for Limbaugh, my personal view is this : you get back what you put out. A person advocates hatred and mockery, they should not be surprised if that comes back at them times 10.
Some, like yourself, see things differently... other people believe “an eye for an eye”.... We’ll all just have to agree to differ
Peace out.. ..

i definitely and firmly believecin an eye for an eye too...but first, someone has to come at my eye before i go at theirs...spoken words of hate aint shit to me ... as many times as me and my people been called Nigg***s and other racial slurs, if i went "eye for eye" or "hate for hate" with all those devils, id be in jail by now...i dont respond to these barbaric devils with more barbarism...now, if me or my family or my home, is in any way threatened, then i attack with unlimited force and whatever weaponry i have at my disposal at that time...but i will never allow myself to lose my bearing and composure (and possibly my freedom or life) trying to match displays of hate or bigotry contained in some spoken words by a radio talk show host... thats how THEY want us to respond...like the emotional beligerent miscreants they try to portray us as...im WAY too smart for that

They can't harm me for what I'm feeling and thinking ....

(And perhaps because I've had similar experiences to the ones you describe that have led me to my feelings and thoughts on Fat Limbaugh's not-soon-enough demise...)

But like I said, we just have to agree to disagree...No harm in that

Speaking for myself?

As a bisexual male who had a classmate and a former coworker die of AIDS in the 80's, Rush mocking AIDS victims seems and implying they deserved it seems like a direct attack on me and my friends.

As a liberal democrat, him telling his listeners that I am a socialist commie who hates america is another. When I opposed the invasion of Iraq, I was told that I support terrorists and want them to "win".

As a recovering drug addict, Rush telling his listeners that people like me are subhuman scum who belong locked up in prison? I count that one.

Being informed that depression and ADHD are made up attack both me and my son.

Slut shaming women who seek abortions is a direct attack on the mother of my son, some of my friends and my grandmother.

I could go on but, before I do, lemme ask you something:

Are you seriously suggesting here that someone with an audience numbering in the millions who speaks daily has to say the words "Herb4, you specifically are an asshole, drug addict terrorist sympathizer who hates America and deserves AIDS?" in order to feel personally attacked? Because that's one of the stupidest fucking things I've read here in a while.

And that's saying a LOT.

If I said "every poster here whose user name starts with RJ posts idiotic, moronic bullshit", would you feel personally attacked?

Then you go on to compare yourself to Malcom X by standing up for Rush Limbaugh?

Dude...

Here's a hint: If I say "Gay people deserve to die of AIDS" and someone is gay, that's an attack on that person. If I say "Black people are genetically inferior and less intelligent than other races", that's a direct attack on every black person. And so forth. This isn't complicated.

Several posters have mentioned this about Rush and I agree. He overly influenced a large swath of

poorly-educated, easily-influenced people by pretending to identify w/ their concerns. Many did not have the sophistication to critique what he was saying.

He was malicious in that sense.

When Rush directly attacks and mocks my gay friends or myself as a bisexual male then, yes, it is a personal attack on me even if Rush Limbaugh never specifically said "I hope Prince.org forums user, Herb4, contracts AIDS because of his sexuality so I can make fun of his death while playng songs like 'Never Love This Way Again'".

When he ridicules and attacks black people or women, it is a direct attack on my black and female friends and cohorts. Rush doesn't have to say "Herb4's friend, Kathy, only got into college because she is black and is so ugly she has not other choice but to be a lesbian" in order directly insult my friend, Kathy and every other gay or african american woman.

I distinctly recall Rush calling out the physical appearance of prominent gay women and basically saying "Of course they're gay. No man would ever want to fuck them". Yeah...Rush Limbaugh "weighing" in on physical attractiveness is pretty rich in its own right but, furthermore, this is a direct attack on all gay women and unattractive people in general.

It's made worse because his dumb listeners get brainwashed by him and repeat his "funny" talking points so a large segment of society gets it in their head that it's cool, humorous and edgy to be an asshole. Normalizing this bullshit leads to people parroting Rush and MORE attacks and insults through society. Which is borderline worse.

He doesn't have to personally punch me in the face while shouting my name to "attack" me and I'm shocked to see people here splitting hairs like this. Actually, no I'm not but it's disappointing nonetheless.

I'm fucking glad he's dead, I hope he suffered, I pray that it was incredibly painful and I have no regrets or shame whatsoever feeling this way at all.

how are YOU on the receiving end of any "hate" from Rush Limbaugh? ...unless youve had some encounters with him im unaware of...the dude has never done anything to you..."hate" is a verb, an action word...yeah he says hateful shit but so what, who doesnt?...if we spend time hating and wishing and celebrating death on everyone who says hateful shit, what does that accomplish?..ignore that shit...its just words...what act of hate has Limbaugh committed against you personally?...and in case you forgot, even Malcolm evolved from that aggressive overt racial separatist stance when he left The Nation Of Islam..even "Malcolm's philosophy" evolved past that...so which Malcolm X are you referring to?...ive never heard or seen him ever wish or celebrate anyones death in any of his stages...the chickens coming home to roost statement wasnt a cheer or celebration..it was a matter of fact observation...Lets not misrepresent the Great el-Hajj Malik el-Shabazz aka Malcolm X

I took from this that your opinion was strongly in line with Malcom's. I don't see other way to read it.

"See, even Malcom agrees with me that it's wrong to grave dance" was the way I read that.

I'm fucking glad he's dead, I hope he suffered, I pray that it was incredibly painful and I have no regrets or shame whatsoever feeling this way at all.

i mean...imagine the irony of popping off at someone about their spelling, while misspelling words...LOLOL...this place is endless comedy. PUNCTATION? word?

Oh, my bad. Are you feeling personally attacked?

Well, let me put it this way: what if I knew you were, for the sake of argument, an Asian woman and I wrote something to the effect of "well, that's just how those people tend to post since women are kind of dumb to start with and what with those slanty eyes, haha, it really makes it hard for them to see the phone keyboard when they type"

Would you consider that a direct insult?

Because it would be, you shouldn't make excuses for me and you'd be 100% right for feeling that way.

One thing about Limbaugh- As an unrepentant bigot, I'm sure he most likely held anti-Semitic views. But to the best of my knowledge, he never expressed such opinions on the air. It's acceptable , even profitable, to spew anti-black, anti-Hispanic, anti-Woman, anti-LGBTQ, anti-disabled views on the air. Hell, you can even get awared with the highest civilian honor this country gives. But he had ever spouted anything anti-Semitic on the airwaves, Fat Rush would have been GONE....And he certainly knew that

Several posters have mentioned this about Rush and I agree. He overly influenced a large swath of

poorly-educated, easily-influenced people by pretending to identify w/ their concerns. Many did not have the sophistication to critique what he was saying.

He was malicious in that sense.

And who else does that sound like ?
