Biden's Incoming Administration - as it develops

So it looks like Biden is starting to name his Administration officials. I don't know the names announced per se but from what I'm reading it sounds pretty promising. They'll have to confirmed by the Senate but fingers crossed this won't be a long drawn out process.

Biden poised to nominate Antony Blinken as secretary of state

By Jeff Zeleny, Dan Merica and Kylie Atwood, CNN
Updated 10:59 PM ET, Sun November 22, 2020

“President-elect Joe Biden is poised to nominate Antony Blinken to serve as secretary of state, people familiar with the matter told CNN, elevating a longtime foreign policy adviser as Biden makes his first round of Cabinet announcements Tuesday.”

Incoming White House chief of staff Ron Klain said earlier Sunday that Biden intended to begin revealing members of his Cabinet Tuesday. Blinken is expected to be among the first nominations, people familiar with the matter said, with Biden intent on sending a signal that rebuilding America's alliances is one of his top priorities.“

Biden names 2 White House staffers to help negotiate legislation with Congress

BART JANSEN | USA TODAY | 1 hour ago

Reema Dodin and Shuwanza Goff were each named deputy director of the Office of Legislative Affairs.

Dodin works for Sen. Dick Durbin, D-Ill., the assistant minority leader. Goff works for House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer, D-Md., and became the first Black woman to serve as floor director, helping set the Democrats' legislative agenda and determining which bills reach the floor.

“The American people are eager for our Administration to get to work, and today’s appointees will help advance our agenda and ensure every American has a fair shot,” Biden said in a statement. “In a Biden administration, we will have an open door to the Hill and this team will make sure their views are always represented in the White House.”

Biden’s pick for DHS

https://www.buzzfeednews....s-dhs-pick

Biden Has Picked A Cuban Immigrant And Former Obama-Era Official To Lead DHS

“President-elect Joe Biden has picked Alejandro Mayorkas, a former top Obama administration official, to run the Department of Homeland Security, which would make him the first Latino and immigrant to serve in the role.

Mayorkas, who was born in Havana, Cuba, and became a US citizen in 1973, served as the director of the US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) and deputy secretary of DHS during the Obama administration. The 60-year-old led USCIS in 2012 when the agency rolled out the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) policy, which sought to protect undocumented immigrants brought to the country at a young age from deportation. Biden has promised to restore those protections.

“We have no time to lose when it comes to our national security and foreign policy,” Biden said in a statement that announced the selection of Mayorkas and others in top roles. “I need a team ready on Day One to help me reclaim America’s seat at the head of the table, rally the world to meet the biggest challenges we face, and advance our security, prosperity, and values. This is the crux of that team.”

More to Biden’s list:

https://www.google.com/am...html%3famp

Biden names veteran diplomat Linda Thomas-Greenfield as UN ambassador

“President-elect Joe Biden has named Linda Thomas-Greenfield as his pick to be the US ambassador to the United Nations.

The announcement came with a number of other nominations to key cabinet posts with an aim of restoring “respected American leadership abroad and dignified leadership at him”, while also fulfilling a commitment to a more diverse cabinet.

The veteran diplomat has a foreign service career dating back to the Reagan administration and has served as ambassador to Liberia from 2008 to 2012, as well as postings in Switzerland, Pakistan, Kenya, The Gambia, Nigeria and Jamaica.

Prior to that appointment, she served as director general of the foreign service and director of human resources, leading a team in charge of the State Department’s 70,000-strong workforce.

After being let go from her role in the early days of the Trump administration, Ms Thomas-Greenfield became a senior vice president at Albright Stonebridge Group, leading the Africa practice.

She served as co-chair of the Advisory Committee for a Council on Foreign Relations Special Report, Revitalizing the State Department and American Diplomacy.“

Biden picks Avril Haines as director of national intelligence

“Having served Obama as a national security lawyer and deputy CIA director, Haines has been playing a key”

Nov. 23, 2020, 12:30 PM EST
By Ken Dilanian and Geoff Bennett

WASHINGTON — Joe Biden has selected Avril Haines, who held top national security jobs under President Obama, to become director of national intelligence in the Biden administration.

Having served Obama as a national security lawyer and deputy CIA director, Haines, 51, has been playing a key national security role in the Biden transition. She will become the first woman in the DNI job, which was created after the 9-11 attacks to better coordinate the sprawling American intelligence bureaucracy.
Among other things, the DNI oversees the presidential intelligence briefing process. But the DNI does not run covert operations ordered by the president — the CIA director retains that power.

Janet Yellen Is Biden’s Pick for Treasury Secretary

Former Fed chief, if confirmed by Senate, would be first woman to hold job

By Nick Timiraos , Kate Davidson and Ken Thomas
Updated Nov. 23, 2020 3:53 pm ET

President-elect Joe Biden plans to nominate former Federal Reserve Chairwoman Janet Yellen, an economist at the forefront of policy-making for three decades, to become the next Treasury secretary, according to people familiar with the decision.

If confirmed by the Senate, Ms. Yellen would become the first woman to hold the job. Mr. Biden’s selection positions the 74-year-old labor economist to lead his administration’s efforts to drive the recovery from the destruction caused by the coronavirus pandemic.

Ms. Yellen, who was the first woman to lead the Fed, would become the first person to have headed the Treasury, the central bank and the White House Council of Economic Advisers.”

Remember when Trump was banging about Obama's birth certificate? And then he had that press conference where he said something like "I acknowledge that President Obama was boarn in America. I started this foilks and now I'm ending it." Remeber that?

He's now doing it here. He's trying to save face by tweeting he didn't want this GSA woman to have any more threats or whatever. Like he's now the good guy in all this. BTW, she said she hasn't had any WH influence to deny or issue the acertainment. But he just tweeted that he instructed her.

It was expected that Obama's record would be beat. Every election the voter count gets higher. The thing about past elections is that voter turnout has been low or at least average. Voters on both sides were definitely energised for the 2020 election rolleyes and so yes, Obama's record would get beaten. Some day, maybe at the next election, Biden's will fall. But Trump beating Obama's vote number is not exactly something to get excited about when it was expected.

At least Obama wasn't a one term president lol
