6 Accused of Planned Kidnapping Of Michigan Governor & Gvmt Overthrow

Six men are accused of participating in what the FBI is calling a “violent” militia scheme involving people from several different states to kidnap Gov. Gretchen Whitmer as a hostage and overthrow the Michigan government.

“The United States, including the FBI,” is investigating a conspiracy to kidnap the governor of Michigan," the criminal complaint reads.

6 men named in complaint Five Michigan residents -- Adam Fox, Ty Garbin, Kaleb Franks, Daniel Harris and Brandon Caserta -- and Barry Croft, of Delaware, have been charged with conspiring to kidnap Whitmer. Officials said they became aware of the conspiracy in early 2020.

“A group of individuals were discussing the violent overthrow of certain government and law enforcement components,” the complaint reads. Croft and Fox agreed to recruit others to take “violent action against multiple state governments that they believe are violating the U.S. Constitution,” federal officials said.

Group meets in Ohio On June 6, Croft, Fox and around 13 others from multiple states gathered in Dublin, Ohio, to discuss creating a society that followed the Bill of Rights and allowed them to be self sufficient, officials said. A confidential informant for the FBI was at the meeting, according to court records. They talked about different ways to achieve their goals, from peaceful to violent actions, feds said. “Several members talked about murdering ‘tyrants’ or ‘taking’ a sitting governor,” the criminal complaint says. “The group decided they needed to increase their numbers and encouraged each other to talk to their neighbors and spread their message.”

Militia involvement

Fox is accused of reaching out to a Michigan-based militia group to help in the scheme, officials said. The group had already been brought to the FBI’s attention in March 2020 by a local police department, court records show. At the time, members of the militia group were trying to find the addresses of law enforcement officers, police said.

A member of the militia was interviewed by the FBI and agreed to becoming an undercover source, according to authorities. ’ Police said the militia group regularly meets in remote parts of the state to run through tactical drills and train with guns.

On June 14, one of the founders of the militia group said he had been introduced to Fox, according to the confidential source. Fox invited the leader to meet at his Grand Rapids business later in the week, the complaint says. Fox met with members of the militia group multiple times throughout June, officials said. On June 18, the confidential informant secretly recorded audio of a meeting in which Fox and militia leaders, including Garbin, met at a Second Amendment rally at the state Capitol in Lansing, the FBI said. While trying to recruit more members for the operation, Fox told Garbin and the informant that he planned to attack the Capitol and asked them to combine forces, according to court records.

Plan to take Whitmer Hostage

During a phone call with a confidential FBI informant, which was recorded by officials, Fox said he needed 200 men to storm the Capitol building and take hostages, including Whitmer.

Fox said they would try the governor for treason, authorities said. The plan was to be executed before the November 2020 election, court documents show. Meeting through secret trap door On June 20, Garbin, Fox and several others went to Fox’s Grand Rapids business, meeting in the basement, which was accessed through a trap door hidden under a rug on the main floor, according to officials.

Plan to abduct Whitmer

During a July 27 meeting at Fox’s business, Fox said the best opportunity to abduct Whitmer would be when she was arriving at or leaving her vacation home or the official governor’s summer residence. He described it as a “snatch and grab, man,” officials said. “Grab the f****** governor,” he said, according to the FBI. “Just grab the b***. Because at that point, we do that, dude -- it’s over.” Fox said after kidnapping Whitmer, they would move her to a secure location in Wisconsin for “trial," officials said. He suggested recruiting a realtor to help them find the exact location of the vacation home and collect information about the surrounding homes and structures, FBI officials said.

Whitmer specifically blamed President Donald Trump, who has repeatedly declined to condemn far-right groups.
"Just last week, the President of the United States stood before the American people and refused to condemn white supremacists and hate groups like these two Michigan militia groups," she said. "'Stand back and stand by,' he told them. 'Stand back and stand by.' Hate groups heard the President's words not as a rebuke, but as a rallying cry, as a call to action. When our leaders speak, their words matter. They carry weight."

I live in Michigan and it's disgusting how many people hate her for trying to protect the residents against the virus. But, most of them will not hold Trump accountable for down playing the virus and not allowing us to take precautions earlier.

Just watched an interview with the MI AG. I remember we had a "lively" thread about those armed "demonstrators" who stormed the steps of the Michigan state capitol waiving threatening signs about Governor Whitmer.

Turns out there is a direct link between those armed idiots and the 13 right wing terrorists who have been arrested.

'Lock her up!': Anti-Whitmer coronavirus lockdown protestors swarm Michigan Capitol

April 15, 2020, 3:14 PM EDT / Updated April 15, 2020, 5:21 PM EDT
By Allan Smith

Thousands of demonstrators descended on the state Capitol in Lansing, Michigan, on Wednesday to protest Gov. Gretchen Whitmer's r...home order, clogging the streets with their cars while scores ignored organizers' pleas to stay inside their vehicles.

The protest — dubbed "Operation Gridlock" — was organized by the Michigan Conservative Coalition and the Michigan Freedom Fund, a DeVos family-linked conservative group. Protesters were encouraged to show up and cause traffic jams, honk and bring signs to display from their cars.

Organizers wrote on Facebook: "Do not park and walk — stay in your vehicles!"

Many ignored the demand. Demonstrators, on foot, were seen waving American, "Don't Tread on Me" and Trump campaign flags. At least two Confederate flags were spotted.

Protesters could be heard chanting "Open up Michigan!" At one point, there was a "lock her up" chant in reference to Whitmer.

"We can get this rally done and stay within the social distancing guidelines,” Marian Sheridan, a Michigan Conservative Coalition co-founder, said in a statement ahead of the rally. "Citizens are frankly tired of being treated like babies. As adults, we now know what needs to be done to stay safe."

Speaking to Michigan NBC affiliate WOOD-TV, one woman attending suggested she didn't entirely trust the social distancing recommendations being made by "the so-called scientists" like Dr. Anthony Fauci, adding that she believes "very strongly in herd immunity."

Tom Norton, a Republican running to unseat Rep. Justin Amash, who left the Republican Party last year, told WOOD-TV that "the cure is worse than the disease," pointing to the impact of the shutdowns on small businesses and the potential for rising rates of depression and suicide.

They said these kidnappers are supporters of the Boogaloos also. I hope trump takes the FBI and DHS’ report seriously now, but he’ll find a way to deflect from it more than likely. A former member of a nazi group said these groups are hoping for a race war. Glad the FBI caught them.

You seriously think that these terrorists saw the debate and started planning?

These are extremists, who have been this way for a long time. They hate democrats, Republicans, minorities, jews, etc. These people do not compare to normal people.

Governor Whitmer bringing Trump into the discussion is wrong. She's unfairly trying to equate in order to score political points. Shameful.

Listen folx, these psychos are real. They're out there, and they are active. This wouldn't have been busted early if not for somebody with the common sense to realize this was wrong and went confidential informant for the FBI.

It's not a political game. People can be just straight up evil.

I live in Michigan and voted for Gov Whitmer. We needed her after the Snyder debacle. Michigan is a mostly rural state, contrary to the idea that we are just Detroit, Flint, Grand Rapids, and Lansing. There's a number of people who are mostly segregated from interaction with others. In fact, there was a direct link to the Oklahoma bombings from Michigan extremists. And I believe one of the guys they just arrested has ties to Ruby Ridge.

Trump doesn't encourage these people. Govt actions are what fire these people up. They're not happy about the masks, about law enforcement, about our friendship with Israel, our welcoming of middle eastern citizens, etc. Unfortunately it's turning into another left vs right game. Saddens me because these people are serious and dangerous.

Trump doesn't do anything to discourage this behavior either. In fact, he feels the same about middle eastern immigrants and masks and he tries to make the world belive that BLM are a terrorist group. I do understand what you're saying, but as the President he should be denouncing all of this shit, but he doesn't.

Those very same people support Trump. There were plenty pf MAGA signs at that anti-mask protest. I suppose tweeting "LIBERATE MICHIGAN" when it was in lockdown to curb the virus wasn't encouragment? Come on.

And it was after Trump tweeted "Liberate Michigan", along with approving of their actions, that these domestic terrorists began planning what the kidnapping to try the governor for treason. And the sheriff is dismissing them and giving them an "out" with a law about making felony arrests.
