Trump campaign sued for attempting to disenfranchise Black voters

The Trump campaign has repeatedly attempted to use the judicial system to overturn the president’s defeat to President-elect Joe Biden, filing more than two dozen unsuccessful lawsuits since Election Day.

But the president’s campaign now finds itself on the other side of a legal case in a newly filed federal lawsuit alleging that it violated the Voting Rights Act of 1965 when it sought to “disenfranchise hundreds of thousands of voters,” particularly African Americans in metropolitan areas of Michigan.

“It’s not even about the success of President Trump and the Trump campaign’s attempts to overturn the election,” Monique Lin-Luse, assistant counsel of the NAACP Legal Defense and Education Fund, which filed the lawsuit, told Yahoo News. “The very attempt ... to overturn it by disenfranchising and de-legitimizing Black voters is what we believe is unlawful, and it's also dangerous and corrosive to our democracy.”

You do know that everytime these claims have been put before the court, the court has not only dismissed these claims but laughed them out of court on lack of evidence. Many of the claims not even Rudy was silly enough to put them before a court.

This is just in a GOP meeting and media stunt to pressure PA to disenfranchise the State or convince its electors to be faithless. It is not a court. It is easy to assert lies when you know they will not be tested.

The problem is President Unelect trump is once again putting his ego before the good of country, just as he has done so many times eg over covid. He has built up in the minds of his base the lie that he won. I don't think it is even important for him to actually steal the election - just that he be able to say he never lost, it was stolen from him and have adoring crowds say they believe him and believe in him.

Donald Trump is losing over and over again. This time a federal appeals court ruled against his latest challenge to the election results in Pennsylvania. The AP writes:

The 3rd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals echoed a string of other courts in finding the Trump campaign offered no evidence of any election fraud. Instead, the court said “the campaign’s claims have no merit.”

“Free, fair elections are the lifeblood of our democracy. Charges of unfairness are serious. But calling an election unfair does not make it so. Charges require specific allegations and then proof. We have neither here,” Judge Stephanos Bibas, a Trump appointee and former law school professor, wrote for the three-judge panel.
