(CNN)Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsbu... on Friday, the court announced. She was 87.

Ginsburg was appointed in 1993 by President Bill Clinton and in recent years served as the most senior member of the court's liberal wing consistently delivering progressive votes on the most divisive social issues of the day, including abortion rights, same-sex marriage, voting rights, immigration, health care and affirmative action.
Along the way, she developed a rock star type status and was dubbed the "Notorious R.B.G." In speaking events across the country before liberal audiences, she was greeted with standing ovations as she spoke about her view of the law, her famed exercise routine and her often fiery dissents.
She had suffered from five bouts of cancer, most recently a recurrence in early 2020 when a biopsy revealed lesions on her liver. In a statement she said that chemotherapy was yielding "positive results" and that she was able to maintain an active daily routine.

"I would just like people to think of me as a judge who did the best she could with whatever limited talent I had," Ginsburg said at an event at the University of California Hastings College of Law in 2011, "to keep our country true to what makes it a great nation and to make things a little better than they might have been if I hadn't been there." - RBG

Here's what bothers ME:

Prince died of an overdose of the drug Fentanyl. Of which, it is very highly fucking likely that he never even knew he'd taken.

According to Jewish tradition, a person who dies on Rosh Hashanah, which began tonight, is a tzaddik, a person of great righteousness.

And the Notorious RBG was a person of great righteousness. RIP Justice Ginsburg.

Damn. sad

First let me say that may she rest in peace. rose I'm sure she was tired...

Before the election, there was this NPR news cast in which they were talking about the upcoming election and what could be at stake with the supreme court if trump was elected president.

They were taking comments and this one woman called in and challenged the panel to give her a reason to vote for Hillary, OTHER THAN what impact a trump presidency could have on the supreme court. Basically she was minimizing that impact. So one of the hosts basically said that that should be enough. Like she was dumbfounded that people could still take so lightly the importance of who was on the Supreme Court. i just remember hearing all that and basically thinking "boy are we in trouble"...

Coming up on three nominations later and, boy are we in trouble. disbelief Actions do have consequences.

R.I.P.

Rest in Peace Bettie Boo. See u soon.

What a great person she was. She will be missed for many reasons.

I really feel for the American people as you know she will be replaced by a right wing conservative that will strip current rights. Very sad indeed.

That’s what I’m afraid of. Of course they are going to push to fill her seat before the election. This should wait until after the election seeing the Election Day is less than 2 months away. So in his statement about Ginsburg he throws in ‘ ‘a lame duck’ reference? They just can’t keep their hands off Obama’s penis. Smh.

It is not going to happen until after the election...and then it will depend on the results.

if it was june or july maybe. Not in Mid Sept.

Many scenerios. Could bring out Trump base, but really bring out dems. It will be seen as a mean power grab by suburbin voters.

The far left is saying she should have retired in 2012.

maybe not 12 but 14 for sure. She was convinced Hillary would get the most votes and win she wanted to be replaced by a woman with a woman. It was a cool idea.

But yeah, this will be exploited by both trump and Biden sick and sad. I say as it is Sept wait until after the new congress (some 33 senators up for election) is seated in early Jan... and then only if Trump wins. But the left has little to say if they do try to push one through.

VOTE these asses out of office.

How shameful

R
ep. Doug Collins is getting slammed for his insensitive and inflammatory tweet about the death of Ruth Bader Ginsburg. Instead of paying his respects to the Supreme Court justice, the Georgia Republican wrote:

RIP to the more than 30 million innocent babies that have been murdered during the decades that Ruth Bader Ginsburg defended pro-abortion laws. With @realDonaldTrump nominating a replacement that values human life, generations of unborn children have a chance to live.

Hasn’t been 24 hrs after her passing, and he’s already trying to put someone in her seat before the election.

Trump says he thinks he'll have a Supreme Court nominee next week
By Veronica Stracqualursi and Jim Acosta,
CNN
Updated 6:01 PM ET, Sat September 19, 2020

President Donald Trump said he will have a nominee "very soon" to fill the vacant seat on the Supreme Court and he thinks he'll make his choice next week.

"We want to respect the process, and the process will move, I think it is going to move very quickly actually. I agree with the statement put out by Mitch McConnell. I agree with it actually 100%. I put out a very similar statement you saw, so I think we're going to start the process extremely soon, and we'll have a nominee very soon," Trump told reporters before departing the White House on Saturday.”

When Scalia suddenly died 10 months before the election they refused to hold a hearing on Obama's nomination for the court because it was "an election year and the people should be able to choose the next president to nominate the next supreme court judge" so thye left the court wihtout a 9th judge for nearly a year until after Trump was elected.

If they (and I mean McConnell and all republicans in the senate) push someone through with 40 days to the election their legacy will be that they will be the most corrupt hypocrits to ever serve in US government.

they will argue the difference is in 2016 is was a for sure new POTUS and for now is is just a 80% sure new one.

on the other side the Dems that demanded obama's pick get a vote can only argue as I have that there is not time to do it correctly. If she would have passed in Feb no one that wanted garland to get a hearing could really be mad that her replacement did.
