Thanks, Ian. I am truly appreciative for your POV and all others who live outside the U.S. The persepctive of those of you outside the country looking at what's happening not only here, but around the world, is important to me.

I agree, and appreciate Ian’s input as well. It’s amazing how Ian can see the reason for the protests, and the actual racial injustices and police brutality that is going on in this country. It’s so difficult at times, to get some Americans to admit these ills are real, and happening, because many of them just refuse to admit it, and I think it’s because of the uncomfortability of those realities or either some folks’ ego would rather deflect and deny the fact that these ills exists. [Edited 9/8/20 16:24pm]

nod Denial is ugly and only tries to minimize the problems which then fester.

WTH? disbelief approaching unarmed protesters with guns is provocation.

Which one of the university administrators promised him a vote? He doesn’t do anything without a favor in return. So no, I don’t see it as a genuine gesture, no more than he met with some Black clergy before he was elected, and obviously promised them something for a vote.

Trump is a snake that even when he sheds one skin, it’s still the same.

Any reference to what he has done for Black Americans is disingenuous. And the only thing he would say about John Lewis is that he didn't go to his inauguration. disbelief

Likely jealous of the (deserved) accolades Lewis got when he passed. Lewis did not attend GW Bush's inauguration either but Bush acknowledged Lewis'ssacrifices and contributions to this country.

Trump is small and pathetic, but he is a gigantic piece of shit.

He's obsessed with control, and usually folks like him are very insecure, so they have a need to ‘control’ others to feel confident about themselves. But in reality, they’re just bullies.

Oh Susan Smith! I did not buy it for a SECOND! I was in my apartment and I had a older woman as a roomie... and we are watching the news coverage and I said "She did it...She's lying..." and my roomie got mad! She cursed me out and said she could not take it and was going to move out! And she did.. until we found out..

Like others who did things like this and make up some bad guys one has to wonder if she would have let someone get convicted for this?

very cool well said. I am sure some will attack him. And I am not sure I agree 100% of what he said... but he made a great point that some want to change what a word means and then use that new meaning to go back in time to erase someone.

He's pretty sharp. There are people who won't listen to him because of the title but he is very articulate and even handed in his thoughts about things. And yeah the vid isn't just about blm But peole who call themselves Left/Democratic will find he agrees/disagrees with the same things they do

Breonna Taylor's life mattered, and according to the city of Louisville KY, it was worth $12 million - the settlement offerred in the wrongful death lawsuit lodged against the for her death. The city offered $$$ to her family in addition to instituting changes in the police department.

Hmmm... restitution and a postive change brought on by protests supported by BLM. How about that!?

Exactly. People could trash BLM all they want, but the good thing, is that their massive protests, is forcing changes in many police depts, many places of employment, in advertising, etc. just to name a few. So their raising awareness of police brutality/killing of many unarmed people of color, racial injustices in America, has been effective and definitely has some power behind it to be able to have forced many changes. Long way to go still, but getting there.

A friend sent me that vid in a tex. Really amazing imagery and music fits perfectly (because not much ahs changed since MJ recorded it)

It reflects exactly what is happening today. And you’re right, not that much has changed since MJ recorded it. I’m proud of the BLM peaceful protesters, and other protesters who have the courage to raise their voices and march against police brutality and racism. They will be the ones to force change in this country. The protests must continue or things will remain the same. Protesters of the 60s were highly criticized, attacked, called communists, troublemakers, and faced all kinds of verbal and physical abuse, but they marched on, and ‘some’ progress came out of it, but not far enough, as we see today that police brutality/racism is still a major issue. Love the Spike Lee vid with MJ. Speaks volumes. Power to the protesters, they will eventually prevail. [Edited 8/31/20 20:58pm]

MJ was a greater entertainer - he was also a delusional pedophile. Enough said
